      I believe at the time I built this I had maybe 250 dollars in the whole build. It's been a while but I believe that's what I had wrapped up in it. I only use this just a few times a year. Mainly when we have a power outage and my furnace isn't running. For my situation it has been worth every penny. I also see these heaters for sale on Facebook marketplace for pretty cheap so that would help a person save some money on it.

    In the too late suggestion department: before you cut anything, have you considered running some of the hose back into the bag?

    • @cbadventures8996

      I actually ended up cutting my hose and put an inline water filter in it. I also keep an extra hose in case the filter needs to be bypassed. I don't ever run dirty water through it but the filter is more of an added protection.

    My 3/8 90 degree piece is leaking Gas from where it screws into the heater even with tape. I have tried 3 different 3/8 flare types and they all leak from where it screws into the heater and not where it connects to the gas line. What can I do to seal the leak.

    • @cbadventures8996
      @cbadventures8996 Рік тому

      The only thing I have used is tape and it works fine for me. They do make a liquid style tape that you brush on. That may help seal up your leak. You could also run a tap on the threads of your heater to make sure they are clean.

    Nice overview! I have a heavy duty (10 gauge) standard 120V extension cord. Would I be fine using that (in conjunction with heavy duty 4-way splitter) plugged into one of those two smaller 120v outlets, and use it kinda like you did your twist-lock cord? (Fridge, tv, cable box, lamp)

    • @cbadventures8996
      @cbadventures8996 2 роки тому

      I wouldn't see why not. A 10 gauge cord is pretty substantial so as long as your total watt draw doesn't exceed the generators output you should be fine. I have since ran this with multiple cords running power tools and it worked fine.

I'm thinking about buying the HL55 now because I found an online store that still has it in blister packs at an acceptable price. Seven years after its release this is a very outdated headlamp but it seems to have made history, many owners and even some speleos still speak very well for it.
