This is a REAL WORLD review of the Sony 12-24mm f2.8 GM where I give you my impressions after shooting 2 real estate gigs! Which super-wide is best for you and your Sony? TLDR - Its a BEAST, but an expensive beast, like a Tibetan Mastiff. Complete with finished images and weighing other options! Buy something/anything with our Amazon link to support the channel! Our Sony A7SIII Complete Rig for Real Estate Videos
Переглядів 3,9 тис.3 роки тому
We've been asked many times what gear we use for our real estate productions so we decided to spill the beans. We recently upgraded to the Sony A7SIII but still have retained a lot of the same gear we have been using over the years. This is the complete kit we use to shoot low to medium budget real estate projects including the lenses, gimbal, audio, and lighting equipment to get that HGTV feel...

    Can you test the Aivascope 1.5x with a. Sony 70-200mm f2.8 ii GM taking lens (or Sigma/Canon/etc equivalent)? I know on the website it says the sweet spot is 50-90mm, but I wonder what a long 70-200mm would look like, especially at 135mm and above...

    • @fullbars
      @fullbars Місяць тому

      @@adrianrobison tough, front element on Sony lenses are very large. Better to use mechanical lenses/primes. You lose the anamorphic character after 85mm anyway

    • @adrianrobison
      @adrianrobison Місяць тому

      @@fullbars Ahhh gotcha. So that’s why they have on the website 50-90mm…. It’s not a “if the lens will fit” issue (some long lenses have small fronts) it’s more of a “you will lose the anamorphic look” issue? I see now…. Thank you.

      I have the 14mm but rarely use it since I’m digging the right shots. Biggest problem with super wide in real estate is the side walls stretch and take up so much space in the frame, and puts everything center of frame at a distance.

    Would you guys recommend this over 16-35gm 2.8 lens for real estate videography? Considering I already own a GM 24-70 2.8?? And why?? Do we really need the aparture to go down to 2.8 for this lens over say the same lens that's F4? And why? Thanks I appreciate any advice

    • @fullbars
      @fullbars Рік тому

      I personally would not. It’s kind of a specialty lens and not an all arounder like the 16-35. I’d rather have 35m tight than 24m any day. You’re right, if you don’t need the extra stop you can get away with an f4 but the GM just feels like a safer bet in terms of image quality.

    Also! I shoot on the fx3 as well and was considering this adapter. Already have the tilta cage and some canon fD primes from back in the day. Anyway you could provide links to the LWS plate and other rigging gear you used to setup the adapter and camera together? Planning on getting this setup and trying to balance it on my ronin s 2 though I'm not sure how it'll handle.

    • @fullbars
      @fullbars Рік тому

      The lens comes with a rail adapter. The lws plate is the Tilta one that pairs with their cage. one caveat to Tilta’s system is you need to buy their dovetail which is not a standard size. Also look at the Blazar 1.5x adapter. You can get a similar quality at a lower price point.

    Nice lens but it's way overpriced. I have a Sigma 14-24mm who's image quality is on par with Sony GM lenses at a third of the cost. The difference between 12mm and 14mm is minimal and not worth an extra $2k.
