Why the BMW 8 Series was the best BMW of the 90's
Received feedback about not enough close ups of the car so happy to go through with you in this video what the car looks like from the outside to the inside. All in all, a very looked after vehicle. Car has had 14 previous owners, MOT history shows that car has done 20 000 miles in nearly 20 years, a show car doing 1000 miles a year. This is a truly special car so join me in this episode where we take a look at the items left to get this car 100% perfect.

BMW E31 850i. The stuff of dreams, never ever thought one would get their mitts on one of these beautiful things. One typically becomes available every 3 or so years. This BMW 850i has some problems (it is a non-runner) the car has a current MOT till Feb 2025 so hopefully won't need too much replacing. I tried to get a pre-assembled fuel pump assembly pretty common part but that has been discon...

A car is a matter of life or death 2. It is repairable when it has catastrophic damage, engineers like working on them. 4.4 engi...

I won this car in an Ebay auction recently for £2500 "an absolute steal" for a 2011 facelift model, these typically start at the £8000 with lower milage examples priced double, this is a lot of car. After running the car again today, I am doubtful this can be saved as there is a bad knocking sound (right at end of video) and the car does not raise the suspension on the left of the car. Hello sir I am Rakib Rahman. I am an SEO Expert. I can grow your UA-cam channel very fast.
Welll done pal

Very informative and interesting journey you've had. I've always admired the original 8 series. I like a modern classic and I'm on a similar journey with a 2001 CL55. Just about to change rear shocks and brakes. Enjoy your car! Why did you choose the BMW? What did it cost and how much for all the repairs?
Why did you choose the BMW? When I was growing I loved the sound of the 635i CSI cars. Mercedes AMG was great as well, then a neighbour bought a Macau Blue M3 and that became everyones favourite ever car. This car technically is two of the 2.5 engines which was already a classic. These are quite rare in UK, unlike America or Europe I honestly never thought I would ever find one What did it cost and how much for all the repairs? Car was 10K as it was salvage, repairs are at about £5000 as of now The sellers thought the problem on the car was the immobilisor Major problem left is the front suspension, other than that the wipers don't work, apparently there are a couple of metal washers that rust that need to be replaced I probably would have gone with a Mercedes of some description but feared the dreaded ABC suspension. Not the job itself but finding a shop/mechanic willling to do the job. Tyrell's Classic Workshop posted a video recently about his SL500 with some great tips about looking after one of these great cars. I might pick up a R107 or SL500, SL55 in the future once I see off a few cars as I have run out of space
Nice car, but your presentation needs a bit ;-)

yes
Do the 313 come in a square set up?
Late reaction, but your problem is a vacuum leak, not the spark plugs. Misfire as a result of incorrect fuel mixture due too vacuum leak.

Your problem is buying British? Range Rovers are notoriously rubbish. It's not just build quality, but the mindset of those who put them together? I would rather buy a skoda, an old one, or a Polish trabant! 😳🙃 👨🏽🎓🙏🏽👼🏽🙏🏽👨🏽🎓
Like Chevrolet or Buick in America there is a huge dedication to these cars in the UK. This specific model was produced entirely in the UK,, engine at Bridgend and body in Solihul before this was moved to Mexico and India with the L405. I bought this car for rock bottom a price and now have a reliable car for just oevr £10 000 including the price of the car, with a new engine so this will last another 10 years. It might appear crazy to buy one of these cars but there is a Huge following. It is like using British Airways, you know there are better airlines but still use them because of who they are. Thanks for taking the time to comment
Iv really got into your channel! So glad the Range Rover is coming together. What a journey. I admire your patience, perseverance and good articulation. You’re a decent guy
First 🎉
On the 2017 mot it says the coolant is low and leaking. Wonder if excess heat was a factor for the engine failing.
You seem like a really genuine guy. Subbed
Great video my Brother!❤
Would a single service of prevented the failure, was it a lack of maintenance to begin with, or is it an inherent design fault
Sorry but if you buy a 14yr old LR/RR vehicle of any model you are gaurenteed faults, normally huge ones.
This car is running perfectly, we have rebuild the engine and the car is driving like brand new. The technicians checked everything and said I don't need to worry about anything. I am planning to take the car across Europe at some point.
The quality of JLR alloy wheels have always been very poor and they always suffer from corrosion. In contrast I have a 25 year old Toyota Land Cruiser that has near zero corrosion and also a 10 year Old Ford Ranger working in filthy conditions [it’s a work truck] that has zero corrosion on its alloy wheels. JLR just are cheaply built where it matters. They are certainly not built to be reliable and use cheap parts typified by the alloy wheels and poor unreliable engines.
The Ingenium 2.0 diesel engines are plenty powerful enough. The issue is a poor design and quality of the timing chain and guides. I very nearly bought a First Edition Defender 110, whose performance was actually OK, but I had a very lucky escape. Ingenium have been continually improved in production of course and may well now be good engines. Every brand has their problem engines and/or transmissions from time to time, witness the Ford Ecoboost and Ecoblue and some BMW and Mini engines. The Ford made pre-ingenium V6 3.0 litre engine used by JLR that commonly snaps crankshafts.
Irrelevant to this model of RR.
@@chrisglover2133 Very relevant to the brand and plenty of models before the Ingenium though. It’s a systemic problem with JLR going back to the 1970’s and I’ve had a large number of their products, both utility and luxury since then. Would have had many more if only they backed up their poor engineering and, historically, assembly also. They are a terrible company and the worse of the worse and it took me the longest time to finally dispel myself of the desire for their products. Only yesterday I was offered a Defender 90 250 with only 2500 miles covered in a year and I declined to purchase it from a private seller. I might have been tempted if he was willing to sell it for £10,000 less than the current new selling price, but he was not and I breathed a sigh of relief.
This is not what I am hearing ua-cam.com/video/Ls5og7v0aMc/v-deo.html NB
@@chrisglover2133 the point I was trying to make is that you are better off with the older engine in the L322 car than a newer ingenium engine.
Unless I missing something your front offside tyre looks a bit illegal at 2.23 ?
No you are not, well spotted! I was told that the type was fitted the wrong way round before I bought the car. I took the car to the type shop and they said it was OK to drive (and it passed an MOT) but I am currently looking for new wheels and will get a set of 4 new Pirelli's or Continental tryes. Very well spotted.
Exhaust pipe ?? Its a tubular side step just get it re powdercoated and lock cap wont make any difference it just covers the hole for the key to go in underneath incase of flat battery
Good job boss 👌📈
WTG!
just some questions and tips, arent you supposed to use silicon. warm water for rubber gasket to help it relax. proper torque for the bolts, or new bolts. then let it sit for hours and hours. and maybe replace the pcv hose on the closer cylinder. just some ideas. it is a slanted version, did you ever re do it?
Yea this isnt a very good vid. Theres better ones out there.
@@thechronic555 1 year later and i still don't understand why he did not let the silicon cure, instead just starts her right up
@@MM-pv8zp dude had a damn tomahawk he was so excited to cook on that baby grill mayne 😅
👍Ok
The amount of work current;ly conducted in service revenue would be a bargain to purchase for someone should you sell
LOVING YOUR VIDEOS, FELLOW L322 OWNER
thanks, I will try and upload some more
please keep updating the channel on the L322
these video are gold
Very cool, thank you! Now off to do mine.
Mate get a land cruiser or a Mitsubishi Shogan/Pajero for the overlanding peace of mind you need. There’s always a compromise in every SUV or car, what are you willing to prioritise or compromise? Comfort/Luxury vs reliability/simplicity. I had a 2009 L322 supercharge before, I now have a discovery 4 sdv6 from 2013 to date and a Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5 diesel 2017 model, i have anxiety every time i go overlanding in the Discovery on what might fail, it has never left me stranded, not once , touch wood. But I’m so carefree and relaxed when i go overlanding in the Land Cruiser. All the best mate regards from South Africa.
What a load of crap do some talking . Bored after 2mins .
Hi there, thanks for the feedback. I will try and make things more entertaining in the future.
Background music: Carmina Burana, maybe? Excellent choice.
Thank you very much and yes it is the Carmina Burana
Wow where did you get that work done so cheap? Some people have spent over 7k just on turbos. Lovely to see you in my home county of Yorkshire
Thanks for the video, really enjoy these updates as a fellow L322 owner
I work in a European specialty garage and Land Rovers and Jaguars have made me a lot of money. These things always need work. You fix one thing something else will break before it even leaves the shop from the first repair. I wouldn't buy one of these. Lease a new one or dont drive one at all.
Absolutely right they are the very definition of high maintenance
Parts are cheap for the L322, you just have to search! Never buy from a main dealer! You will have a £250 mark up on most parts! The L322 is a car you can work on yourself! No need for garage fees! 🙂
what a complete waste of money
I just can’t believe that a Range Rover can do 130k! Astonished!
😆
It'll do 130k but you'll have spent about that much in money to get it there😂
So people are stealing land rovers in London so people in the sticks can get cheaper parts. Refurbished parts. 😂 Good work. Keep it up buddy.
I don't think there are any thefts of these vehicles. I think the owners are just firing them and claiming on the insurance after shelling out for months on end.
Good luck to you buddy. But clearly you need a spare car.
