Could You Ever Run A 4 Minute Mile?
I really hope you guys enjoyed this video! A Sub 4-minute mile is very fast and only the best can do it! I also should've mentioned 5k times. You should have a fast 5k time as well to indicate that you're in shape to run a 3:59 mile.

@@RunningJunkies Well, im trying to, and have been making great progress but yesterday at the end of my run I started feeling a weird sharp pain in my left calf, thought nothing of it and kept running through it, throughout the day it got worse and sleep didn't help at all, since then its been hard to walk because of it and I certainly cant run... @@ClaymorePvP Yea for newer runners or if you haven’t ran in a while then bad calf pain is quite normal. I’ve dealt with it bad in the past and it’s not fun. But it’s only temporary. Just take it easy for a day or two then try to push through it.

Just wanted to say this is a great video. When you were training for the mile, how many easy miles did you run in a week, and what was the pace you ran them in? Thanks

    • @RunningJunkies

I run about 25-30 easy miles every week. My easy runs are always at comfortable talking pace. So it’s always person to person. I used to do it at 9:30 pace but now a year later I feel comfortable at 8:10-8:45 depending on how good im feeling.

How anyone could run under 8 minutes in the 2 mile is beyond belief. It takes unbelievable mental and physical strength. The amount of pain is overwhelming. I believe you would have to easily run 100 mile per week mixed with speed workouts, to even come close to a 4 minute mile.

No way you’re in high school man, you look old as hell 💀 insane progress though. Unbelievably impressive. With those 400 workouts at 67 average, you might want to switch to the 32 and 5k. I haven't really hit puberty yet and all i'm not sure if that affects anything. I'm not sure if you know anything about cross country but whenever I'm racing and I get to a hill I will die for the rest of the race and be out of breath forever so i'm not sure how I can get faster. All that speed work means nothing. Go do 6 months of pure base work. Then finalise with sections of speed work so you peak twice with base in between the 2 speed sections. I learnt this the hard way. Guys id go up against were doing 100 to 130k feb march aprils before winter cross country season. Which led them to be aerobic beasts in the 800 and 1500 on the track in the summer. I never did enough base work so i tapered off and didnt do as well in multiple heat and final situations. At the final id always be cooked. On single races i did better. keep it up. Learn from my mistakes. FYI i was a state top 3 800 m runner and national top 5 800 and 1500 runner ages 11 to 16. One of my hardest sessions back then was 20 x 400 with 1 min break at 72s if i remember. Used to do so many 15 x 200 and 20 x 200 with jog next 200 in 28s to 32s back then as well. Also in the 1500 and 800 i learnt too late to always go out slower and sit 3rd way back in the pack. Wish i knew that looking back when i was younger. Funny how your pbs were very similar to mine 4.15 1500m and 1.57 800 m. The crux was when i was 15 i stagnated due to lack of base work. Guys got down to 1.50 to 1.52 range and i stayed stagnent. age 14 and 15 and 16 the big 3-5 second jumps occured in the boys times for both 800m and 1500m.

Very intersting. My PR for the 100 is 12.10, 52.7 for the 400, 1:58.9 for the 800, and 4:37 for the 1600. According to you I have the footspeed just not the aerobic XD

Yess!! your foot speed is there. Your 400 time will go down a little bit to as you get more aerobic! 👍🏼
