Of course it'll start lmao it's when its minus 30 to minus 40 where it starts to cause issues
@@Aajb2 it’ll be fine
@DanielDougalProductions yeah plugged in
This kind of stuff just makes me laugh. This isn't worthy of an argument. Plugging in an engine and keeping it warm will never hurt it especially diesel engines. Manufacturers have been putting heaters on engines for many years for a reason. Plugging it in will never harm the engine in any manner not plugging it in, could harm the engine or prevent it from starting. And if you don't understand that warm oil flows better than freezing cold oil well then just simply research it. What I have found today in just about every subject imaginable you can't teach young people anything they already know it all.
@@garryallan824 I’m not saying it doesn’t flow better when warm it definitely does but it ain’t gonna hurt it cold
@DanielDougalProductions so how did you arrive at this conclusion? Is this an N of 1 evaluation? I can tell you're definitely not a mechanical engineer or a type of engineer who designs and works on car engines and automobiles. Do you make this statement with a reasonable degree of engineering certainty? I'm curious how many diesel trucks you've worked on or have designed the engines for that have led you to believe that an engine block heater is never needed? Exactly what was the temperature when you started your truck and made this video? Have you ever had a diesel truck sit outside for say 3 days or longer at 0° or -10 ° Fahrenheit? Do you know at what temperature diesel fuel starts to gel? Newer diesel engines are certainly better than old ones, but heaters are installed for a reason. Is there any temperature that you personally recommend using a heater on a diesel powered vehicle? 0°, -10°, -20° ? Any temperature?
@ then tell me why my 2020 doesn’t even have a block heater lol
@@DanielDougalProductions really? That's the best you got? Well you're not going to believe this, there are a lot of diesel power trucks that are sold in very warm or hot climates that never require a block heater and that is why the manufacturers make it an option for those who live in cold climates....Lol. perhaps you could answer my questions above?
@@garryallan824 if they were so “necessary” they would all come with them like per say idk tires
Oils like molasses
Doesn't hurt
Am I crazy or do lots of comments here sound like cold temperatures are something new? Why all the drama? We've been starting and running diesels for decades in subzero temps. That includes starting them down to -30f. Below freezing? Seriously? Anyone who lives in cold climates with a diesel knows what is required to start them. Plugging them in is only one of many things to consider.

@@FUS95-g9w yep I guess lol proof is in the pudding never plugged anything in they still make it to 500k I’m not worried
Well you know that's how they are with all this new technology in the and UA-cam videos are automatically experts. I remember working for an outfit in Wyoming three of the trucks core heaters had went out. So what they did is they bought electric blankets and soon as you shut your truck off you threw that electric blanket over the top of that engine, And I actually think it kept the engine a lot warmer than a heater block cuz the whole engine was heat soaked with that blanket.
After coming back in the morning early morning like 4 or 5:00 in the morning the whole engine was completely warm
@ not good to heat soak an engine
Am I the only one that heard this kid call this truck a f250 and then show the f350 on the side of the truck?
@@FUS95-g9w it’s got different badges 👍
Duh!! What’s better for the engine in the long term, starting from freezing or starting from a warm engine block?? Of course it will start without plugging it in, but is it the smartest thing to do, I think not.
@@Jeffintheglen it’s not gonna hurt it plenty ranch trucks that don’t get plugged in over 500k on them
@ stay in school young fella. 😂
@@Jeffintheglen the proof is in the pudding
@@DanielDougalProductions the pudding is older than you so how would you know the proof is there?
@ it’s not rocket science lol
So the reason you should plug your truck in is because there are small oil passages and if that oil is too cold it won't make it through those passages soon enough and it could cause damage with cold thick oil.. it's not that your truck won't start when it's cold it won't get the proper lubrication when it's cold

I plug mine in because i like my oil to be above freezing temp when i start my engine in the winter
@@speedyd1971 oil is good to -55+ it’s fine
@@DanielDougalProductions correct, but the colder it gets, the worse it flows and the less it lubricates. Still better off plugging it in
It’s about optimal oil performance, not whether it’ll start or not, just fyi. Oil isn’t a good lubricant below a certain temp because it becomes congealed in extreme cold temps. I don’t think ANY diesel truck has had problems with starting in below freezing temps since the 1980’s so this is a really… interesting video 🤣

I bought the truck for 800$, and have replaced literally everything but the motor. It’s beyond a little freshening up. Almost 500,000 the rings and cylinders are gone. I’ve had to add two slobber tubes to keep it from pushing oil out of the dipstick rear main seal and every where else it can. Simple solution plug it in!! Starts and runs fine. Without it not enough compression to fire off with no heat in it….
@@justinaustin6565 well the case of this video is for the normal truck that has adequate Compression
Have perfect compression on all 4 of my trucks 97,99,2008,2021 all get plugged in when it's below 30 degrees, if you use the correct oil it's thick plus leave the defrost vent on no frozen windows instant heat no warm up, it's dealer recommended especially when it gets close to 0 it also helps fuel get warmer quicker and not gel, try owning diesel heavy equipment IDC how new cold enough they struggle to start
