Omega - Restoration - Full Service - Old Pocket Watch Silver Case
Переглядів 764Рік тому
It is a rare Omega pocket watch. The case was made of sterling silver. It doesn't work, and I think that's because it was left in the drawer for a long time. It needs to be cleaned, lubricated, and some parts changed. This Triple Date Watch came to me with a problem. It has no power to run. Maybe it is because it has not had service for a long time. I thought that maybe it was abandoned. I have a pocket watch; it's nice; it's not a large watch, but it's medium in size. After I serviced it, I decided to convert it from a pocket watch to a wrist watch. Because a wrist watch is more convenient to use than a pocket watch. I tried to convert it. I don’t know how the final result will turn out to be. Let’s do it. Vintage Watch Restoration - A Hundred Years Old Wrist Watch
Great job How did you clean the dial ? what did you use to clean it ?
Good job. In fact its a pocket watch but changed into o wrist watch
did you have to swap out the cap jewel on the balance wheel or disassemble the balance? there were 2 screws on the balance cap stone but it seems to be missing one screw when you reassemble it to make it ticks, does the missing screw affect the rate much?
I didn't like the service provided by this Omega. It didn't show washing the machine in the video. Apparently the machine was not washed in the global watch cleaning solution and other products. Apparently he just cleaned the parts and lubricated them superficially. To make matters worse, when assembling the watch as a whole, he ended up doing a disservice by losing a screw that held the case together. I managed to see the lost screw inside the silver case that he didn't see... And that is an unforgivable watchmaker service on an omega watch that is over 125 years old and deserves treatment from a more qualified watchmaker.
Anyone know when the *LIVE* bear cam comes back?
Lovely. I wanted to know what you did to clean up the dial. Also, what can of strap did you put on?
At 3:09 you can see loose screw under the balance wheel
The music to this video it make it more awesome
From two make one! Apparently some watch enthusiasts dislike such a Frankenstein watch, but I think it's beautiful how you made one nice functioning watch out of those parts. After all, it'll keep good time and look nice, and that's what essentially matters for any watch.
Hi Bangkok, Do you still have that old Landeron 48 named Sultana dial? How much do you want for it ? Thanks David
Hi
Thanks for this video! I'm working on trying to restore a Tip-Top as well and this has been a great guide. What type of crystal did you use to replace the old, yellowed original? I'm looking for this part as well.
That would have made a lovely pocket watch
Nice work thanks for sharing
Um....why is the strap oriented so that 10 o'clock is straight up?
It’s a driving watch style
Do you have a showroom?
No, I don't have one. It's a private collection.
Absolutely love the watch
When was the year of production or this model?
arent cloth finger cots a bad idea since the fibers would get into the movement?
wow. looks beautiful in your arm. Better than new rolex gold.
Where is your shop located?
I've owned a few of these over the years but at time I wasn't interested (American watches were my focus) they were just part of the deal. I don't think I currently have one in my collection.
Great skills and good video also just a feedback, seems the light is perpendicular to the watch and the watch reflect too much light to the camera, putting the light in an angle will show better the watch and no reflection to the camera.
Cool👍
Very good ⚙⌚📽👏
No Lube????
two things I noticed that can lead to poor performance: 1. you've lubricated the pallet fork pivots, that is known to steal a lot of your amplitude. keep them dry; 2. the pallet fork pivot holes look worn out, you can try to tighten them using punches/broaches. 3. pin pallet movements usually run like crap anyway :)
Whatever caused tremor, I feel sorry for you. Hope you'll be OK.
Those pin pallet movements are a bear to work on!
why u dont replace the barrel?
Hi...great job. As a hobbyist I'm about to start the restoration of a L48 myself. I have a few donor movements a well as one for restore. I notice NONE of my movements have the screw in sliding gear that you installed 2nd (17:42 mark) during re-assembly. Newer versions of this movement and sliding gear don't have that 2nd screw at all. Do you know if you need it for this caliber?
I think this sliding gear is designed to be loose. So need 2 screws. But that new version was designed to address this problem.
@@bangkokvintagewatch Both of the sliding gear screws are the same so I'm going to proceed and take a screw from one of the donors on the top position since none of them have the second screw.
Hi, I like to buy these Landeron 48 movements, if you still have them? Thanks David
as Lewis Jones has correctly pointed out, it's not a marriage watch, it's a WWI trench watch. The movement is hard to identify precisely, it was an era when everybody was doing the same thing with minor cosmetic variations. The dial, the hands and the movement are definitely original, the case I'm not so sure about - I googled a bit and I couldn't find this exact configuration, and in general front covers were uncommon on these watches, but they have made so many variations that it could as well be original, it's just hard to tell.
👍👍👍👍from indonesia
You the best
Nicely done! I love the artistic engravings on the bridges. Very pretty watch!

Nice Watch👍
Great work!
Lovely old watch, good workmanship. Thanks
ขายมั้ยครับ
ไม่ได้ขายครับ
When you turned it over with the new crystal… Wow!
IDENTIC SEA GUL CHINA WATCH CRONOGRAF 👍👍 🇧🇷
Why does the movement have unadjusted engraved in it ?
It was for the old U.S. taxation tariffs at the Customs. The USA charged an import fee for imported watch movements regarding their quality. An adjusted movement with many jewels was taxed heavier than a simpler movement. It is still noticeable that many vintage watches sold in the USA bear less jewels and refinement than their European counterparts originally sold outside of the U.S. Typical example of the era would be the Omega 56x Series: The U.S. version (eg. 560) would have 17 jewels only as all the others (eg. 562) would have 24.
This repair was totally awesome . Want To Sell It ????
🔬⌚️🕵♀️👍
I didn't see the yoke spring being installed.
I notice you didn't let down the power in the mainspring before you removed the pallet fork. Doesn't the rapid release risk damage to the mainspring or train of wheels?
Yes, I know that. I try to release the power of the mainspring, but something sticks inside. The only way is to remove the pallet fork carefully.
