Hey friends! The Alesis Samplepad Pro is not without it's problems or limitations. However, as a portable mini kit, it's hard to beat! If you are someone who depends on fast reliable sampling, this is probably not for you. However, if you are a drummer looking for a portable option to play along live with backing tracks or a live band situation, this is a great and cheap option, especially when...

Any suggestions for how to setup the system to make it work. Hope you have a solution as I feel I've been tinkering with the threshold, sensitivity, etc. for hours...

    • @sabadrum

      In the trigger functions, which I believe is under ‘Utility’, you need to make sure your pad is set to head and rim, so it picks up 2 triggers. Also make sure you are plugged into one of the inputs in the back that has 2 numbers, not 1. I believe it’s 2/3 and 4/5. I know for a fact that input 1 is only for single trigger pads.

      Hello there!!! Unfortunately the Pro doesn't support 3 zone ride cymbals, and Roland actually prints that in their Manual. The cymbal will work as regular dual zone, but you can't use the bell zone. This is the same for the TM6 module. However, I am pretty happy using the 'Switch' playmode in which I get my bell sound by hitting the cymbal harder. Won't work for everyone, but you can still technically achieve 3 different sounds on the dual zone cymbal, when you consider the edge as well!

      You need a y cable male splitter that plugs into both audio inputs of the Strike to connect to your laptop. Once you have that you hit the sampling button and it’s pretty straight forward by just playing your sample into the strike. You wouldn’t adjust any of the audio settings in logic to my knowledge, just let it play from the external headphone jack, which is where you’ll plug in the y cable. Hope this helps!

      it's good, but the issue I had with it after a while is that the kick trigger is posted on the rack leg, so you had to sit accordingly. The regular towers are better too, but they are bulky on the other side so depending on how much space you have it could interfere.

      If you are using a 3 zone Yamaha pad, you need to trigger each zone, the head, the crosstick section, and the rimshot section, all 3 zones will be recognized by the module. Hi, this is great. Thanks for explaining how to connect to the DAW. I've seen videos that talk about the capabilities of the Alesis Strike Multipad to be used as a midi controller inside the DAW. I mean, if I could somehow use the different pads of the Strike Multipad to generate sounds from a synth VST on Logic, I think this this is way more bang for buck than the Nord Drum 3p. Like you can probably tell, I am torn between buying this or the Nord Drum 3p. Any suggestions would help.

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum Місяць тому

      Nord Drum looks cool, but you only get one kick trigger and it counts as one of the pads. So if you are content with only have a kick pad and just 5 other pads it will work. But I wanted hi hat control and other inputs too so for me it wasn’t worth it. You could use the Nord in conjunction with another pad I guess lol you can also configure it with MIDI, but I just prefer using the audio from the module. I may do another video on configuring the strike with the Logic Pro midi.

    Great review on all the pads worth buying !!!!! I'm not surprised that you landed on those two, the Strike pro and the Roland Pro. They both seem top notch. I don't have either, but thinking about one of them. The Alesis is way cheaper. I mostly just want a stand alone set that is easy to carry to jams or gigs. In your opinion, is the cost worth it between the 2 ? Thanks ! :-)

      hey man! Thanks! If you just want something to jam and use on gigs then the Alesis should work great actually! Lots of great instrument sounds, and can upload your own samples and it's easy. I wouldn't put 2 sounds (Wave A and Wave B) on one pad , just Wave A, cause you'll occasionally find some latency between the 2 voices. But it's a not a huge thing

    Can I add cymbals as well to the Yamaha dtx 12? Cheers

      yep. it allows up to 5 external triggers, when you split the 2 dual trigger inputs. You won't get triple zone though unless you use Input 13 though.

      @@pigsfromagun4050 yeah it should. I had good luck with Roland pads, the Yamaha pads caused a lot of cross talk with the Multi 12 if you can believe it lol

      ua-cam.com/video/Zf-G-Jo4cf0/v-deo.htmlsi=lHPJjoaARatXVs8I hey man, check out the video link here that goes into a bit more depth. I used splitters for 2 of the trigger inputs, since each trigger can be split into 2 single zone triggers. You just need to get Y cable 1/4 inch splitters. I also use both toms as single zone, as well as the hi hat. This frees up that space. Hope this helps!
