@@jimcallaham1392 funny. Yeah when I was a teenager and early 20’s the typical all around shortboard was around 6’ 2” very thin and narrow. Then in the late 2000’s(if I remember correctly) they started making them shorter, thicker and wider.

@Surferjoefwb Thats probably a good deal. That 7' would be the right call on most days. Will be able to turn that thing quicker and still be able to get in early like on the Lb. A new firewire!? Niiiice bruddah! Forecast looking dismal other than maybe a bump or two the next couple days. Seems like everytime I got a new board it would be flat for awhile. 😀

@RossJBeach it's not the crowds that we don't like, it's the snaking. I would highly suggest not to ever come to the gulf coast with that energy. We come to the east coast with respect we expect the same out of yall. We would not put up with the snaking and the kind of attitude you have in this comment at all.

@@godisjudge3 Well, when the first hurricane swell hits here, everyone and their brother shows up...the locals should get the pick of the litter on waves...especially at the top spots here...same logic works for your local spots as well.

@RossJBeach that doesn't mean you snake someone. It's dangerous and rude. I didn't make the rules dude these rules have been around for decades now. Not everyone is gonna put up with that. You respect the locals by showing love, appreciation, not paddle battling them, or paddling around them to the peak. You don't respect a local by letting them snake you every wave. Also Florida is Florida. We are all Floridians at the end of the day. We aren't gonna snake yall when yall come to a gulf coast hurricane swell which yall do too. We show love and if you get out of line we deal with it accordingly. I beat up a grown man from Jacksonville when I was in highschool because he didn't follow the rules at our pier. At this age I'd handle it a lil bit differently but we don't snake around here because we don't play that game around here we respect eachother as fellow surfers. Not who's local spot it is or not.

@@JonnyDee-uh1eo nothing quite like the sugar white sand of Floridas Gulf Coast. Yeah there’s a couple spot around FWB that would be seriously going off with those numbers. Been very quiet over this way 😩 But hurricane season isn’t over yet 🤘🏼

@Surferjoefwb Southwest to northwest depending on spot. On Siesta Key when it's northwest cold front onshores it'll be side offshore and reeling rights down the beach. The most power comes from the south swells but what makes some of the best surf are those fronts in the winter that dig down through Texas and the winds will point right at us at a west northwest angle before the winds swing to the northeast with incoming swell and offshore. The days it's onshore here in the winter are your glass off perfection days.

@@JonnyDee-uh1eo right on sounds sick! Yeah in the Winter here it’ll start picking up when it’s out of the ENE. Then over the next couple days the wind will slowly clock around to the southwest and the surf gets bigger but onshore. Then it switches W then NW and goes offshore and it gets really cold. It it switches late in the afternoon before dark a lot of times it’s flat by morning. Best case scenario it switches about 3 AM and at first light it’s overhead and offshore and firing. But cold and it shrinks within a matter of hours sometimes depending on how hard the wind is blowing.

@Surferjoefwb Thats the perfect setup for you. Southwest. That deep water canyon points in at you helping amplify swell. In the winter I want the northwest winds and you need the winds the other way. Lol. There's tines in the winter when yall can flattened out with north wind cold front after cold front with no real Southerly suck up before. I've seen that happen. We get tons of surf and you get blown flat. It's a give and take. I need a cat 3 plus to come up from the Caribbean and slam into p'cola but you need them to stay to the right bringing you swell with north wind. One things for sure, when there's good swell headed up to yall I'm all over the cams on your coast all day scoping out what's breaking and then checking my UA-cam notifications for my Florida Boy Joe to post action from out in the water!
