    How do determine the end of a quarter per subject for grade 5?

    • @ahallelujahplace
      @ahallelujahplace 10 днів тому

      @@Dmari_07 Hi sorry for the delay in responding, but usually every quarter is about 42 lessons so a total of 4 quarters with 170 lessons total. So you would just add up the total grades, divide by how many there are and that would be his or hers average grade for that quarter. if you have the progress report that helps you to keep everything listed as far as what grades are received and for what class. I think they also also might be available on the Abeka website to print off. If you don’t use abeka then you can just keep track of the grades for 40 or 42 lessons and then divide and then that is his or hers average for that quarter.

      @@melissamiranda7322 Hi Melissa, yes, if you want to participate in the ceremony, you have to do accredited the senior year. of course if you don’t want to do accredited and you still use abeka, then you could do a graduation ceremony in your state. In Ohio we have churches and groups that put on their own graduation ceremony, but if you want them to do the graduation walk at Pensacola Christian Academy then they have to be accredited their senior year and have all the necessary credits which is what I’m doing with my children because they want to! You can check on the Abeka website and it shows you high school graduation requirements,course of study for high school etc I hope this answers your question!😊

    How does it work with you doing a 4 day week due to co-op? How do you make up that day without going over 34 extra days at the end of the year? (We don’t want an extra month of school🥴) Asking because our public schools here went to a 4 day week so, naturally, my kids want to do the same. Just looking at different options to fit the 5 days of work into 4 without overloading them too much and making them despise it😅

    • @ahallelujahplace
      @ahallelujahplace Місяць тому

      Hi! To make up the co-op days is really optional for us. The state of Ohio requires 900 hours of homeschooling time for the home school year and co-op counts as homeschooling hours. We are not a Abeka accredited, but we will be next year. However, we have completed the 170 lessons many times. We will start a month before the CC starts. Our local CC doesn’t go very long. They take about two months off for Christmas and they are usually done by April whereas we go to the end of May or the middle of June. We also do not take off some holidays so we make up the Abeka work on those days. I’ve also heard of people making it up on a Saturday. If your state goes to four days a week and you’re not accredited, I would just do school those four days a week and check your states homeschooling hours to make sure you get your hours in. I heard of some states going into four days of school each week. I do have some friends that homeschool their kids and only do four days a week but if you are accredited with Abeka then you may need to do the five! I hope this helps!😊

    Did you use the video with your geometry? Some people have said they didn't like that geometry so I am wanting to see how did it go for you?

    • @ahallelujahplace
      @ahallelujahplace Місяць тому

      Hey! We used Abeka geometry with the dvds. I sat through most of the classes with him and watched the DVDs along with my teen. I feel that if you choose the Abeka Geometry Curriculum then getting the DVDs would be beneficial. If I just look at the book and forget about the DVDs, I would be completely lost. I think the DVDs give a lot of information, show the constructions, and they actually get to see the professor doing the problems. Abeka geometry is advanced, so I’ve heard, and it was ruff, but I feel without the DVDs we would be completely lost. If you go on the Abeka website they have, where you can view a few of the geometry videos. They are old about 20 years old, but the information is still relevant. If you’re going to choose a whole different curriculum for geometry, some people do that too. I know people who use Saxon. I think Saxon combines geometry with a little bit of algebra. Some people use teaching textbooks which is supposed to be easier. That is an online Curriculum I believe. But if you’re going to use Abeka, I recommend the DVDs! I hope this helps! 😊

    • @queenpeach7865
      @queenpeach7865 Місяць тому

      @@ahallelujahplace Thank you for your response. Yes this helps, we have used CTCmath and this math was given to us and I thought that having a book and working the exercises on a notebook would be better than on the pc, but if i need the dvds I might just stick to CTC.

    My oldest has used Abeka Math 4th-6th grade and next year I'm considering jumping to Pre-algebra. He is gifted in math and making A's and high B's. From your experience, do you think skipping Math 7 and going to Pre-algebra will be a mistake?

    • @ahallelujahplace
      @ahallelujahplace 5 місяців тому

      Hi Melanie! That’s a good question! I think that there is a big jump from six grade math to seventh grade math! Of course, both of my kids were not gifted in math. I do think there is a big jump though! If he wants to get credit towards high school math he has to take those classes in high school. So for high school it’s usually algebra 1 algebra 2 geometry pre-calculus. I’m just thinking what would he take in eighth grade? Because I think in order for it to count as a credit for algebra one he would have to be in high school. You could always call Abeka and make sure. But for me, and since my boys are not gifted, they’re average in math though, I would not skip it for them. My oldest also got A’s and B’s. You could always try it and I think you have 30 days to return it? There are sample videos online for pre-algebra. Maybe have him watch some and see what you think? You can also sign up to get free watch hours, so you could always sign up for that and do a couple of lessons and see if he catches on quickly. I hope this helps! 😊

I noticed that you are uploading videos regularly but due to some issues your videos are not getting more views, subscribers, watch time and likes. As a result your attempt is failing. If you want to increase views, subscribers, likes and watchtime then friendly I will help you. Or if you can do it yourself then you can reach the goal very easily. 1. The title of the video should be given correctly. 2. Video description should be SEO friendly. 3. Video tags should be SEO friendly. 4. SEO score should be high. 5. Must be shared on social media. And your channel should be fully setup. Only then videos will come, subscribe will increase

    • @ahallelujahplace
      @ahallelujahplace 6 місяців тому

      Hello! it depends on if you will be using the parent lead for eighth grade or DVDs for eighth grade. I believe the DVDs are between 35 to 40 minutes each and if you have six classes then you can plan for about 5 1/2 to 6 hours. If you plan to parent lead then you can pick and choose what you will teach and how much time you will spend on each subject. I have been using the DVD since eighth grade and I still tweak the DVDs here and there such as fast forwarding things. Then there’s the homework assignments at the end of the lessons which you can also tweak here and there-such as I have them tell me the answers versus writing the answers down. I might have them write one answer to the questions and the rest they verbally tell me. Sometimes with math I only pick the problems they are having difficulty with for them to do, but usually with math they complete all of the homework. it also depends if you are accredited or not accredited If you are accredited then you have to do the DVDs you have to watch all of the DVDs and then you have to turn in certain tests, papers, etc. If you are unaccredited, then you can do either parent lead or the DVDs and you can pick and choose what you want to do. I hope this answers some of your questions! Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know if you have any more questions! 😊👍

    Sending you lots of positive vibes Mama! This video is just inspiring and so real! Real life stuff, sometimes meal plan happens the day of - it sure does in this house quite often! I’m with you I didn’t have quizzes every other day in school but a quiz would definitely challenge the brain on all the new content for sure! I would probably struggle hard cause I need to hear new information like 7 times to retain it 😅

    • @ahallelujahplace

      I’m right with you 7 times repeating, and then it kind of sticks at least for my son. It doesn’t for me since I’m getting older. I think I need like 10 times repeating😆. I think classical conversations repeats the fact seven times in order to remember it! Thanks for the positive vibes from you as well! It’s hard work being a Homeschooling mom but it’s also very rewarding. I keep telling myself to think on the bright side. I just keep chugging along like we moms all do! Thanks for the encouraging comment!💕😊

    Thanks for sharing your day with us and for sharing about the classes your high school student is taking. It really helps seeing how Abeka Academy works in the high school years. Please keep sharing high school videos. My daughter is one year away from starting high school and we are thinking about using Abeka Academy.

      The high school years can be some of the best! However, when it comes to work load it picks up quite a bit for the kids and for myself as a Homeschool Mom. I just keep telling myself that they are getting a great education with Abeka! It seems like you are working ahead, which is good! I will try and post more high school videos for you that focus on the High School Curriculum only and how we make it work. Maybe I could follow my son around for a day in his life with his schoolwork. 🤣 Either way I will try and post some thing for you! Thank you for your kind comment! ❄️

    Hi Bonnie! Thank you for this amazing day in the life! The job of us mothers is definitely a hard job, but also a rewarding job. A lot of the time I feel exhausted of the constant repetition every single day. Thank you for showing how we are not alone, and reminding us of the blessing that we have of being able to do this for our family. My oldest daughter who takes geometry had pointed out that Miss Smith was a fellow student. We thought that was fun! My daughter dislikes very much how old the geometry videos are. Hopefully they update it for next year. My other daughter will be taking the class next year. I definitely agree with you in regard to the quizzes and tests. Abeka really does give a lot! My two daughters are taking spanish 1 and 2. I speak fluent spanish, and I agree that the quizzes and tests for spanish are very hard! Well thanks again for your encouraging words and great videos! God bless you guys❤️

      Hi Jenny I didn’t realize that your daughter was close to my oldest sons age!I don’t even want to think about 11th grade! 🙄🤣I can’t believe he will be in 11th grade next school year! You are right the geometry videos do look outdated. Maybe Abeka thinks that he is probably one of the best geometry teachers they have. I’m not sure if he still teaches at the Academy or not, but I think he wrote part of the geometry book along with some other men. We are looking forward to Miss Shawna in algebra two next year. I didn’t know you spoke fluent Spanish! That means it must be really easy for you to teach Spanish to your daughters. My hope is to one day learn a good amount of Spanish. My son does really well with pronunciation-much better than I do! how is your daughter doing? I hope she is better. 😊As for us Moms, it’s nice to be able to think that other moms are doing the same thing that we are doing day in and day out and that Mom’s before us have done the same thing. We’ve heard it said before that one day we will miss this. We just have to get past the repetitiveness to finding joy in what we get to do! I hope you’re all doing well! ❄️❄️

      @@ahallelujahplace ❤️Yes I have two daughters. One is in 11th grade and the other is in 10th grade like your son. I also have my son who is in 5th grade. Are you planning on attending the graduation in Pensacola? If so, maybe we can meet each other there since our kids will graduate at the same time☺️ We opted to do algebra 1 in 9th grade, algebra 2 in 10th grade, and geometry for 11th grade. It is a handful along with chemistry though. My family is from Puerto Rico but I was born here. Even though I speak spanish, trying to teach my kids the language is like pulling teeth lol🤦‍♀️ I wish I would have taught them while they were younger. Will you have your kiddos do state testing this year since it’s no longer a requirement in our state? I am still debating whether we should still do it since it comes included with the abeka accredited program.

      Thank you for asking about my daughter. That is so kind of you! She is actually showing improvement praise the Lord! She obviously had the parasite for quite some time (maybe up to a year) so it definitely is taking time to get rid of. She took antibiotics 6 weeks ago and I also bought some natural herbs like black walnut and wormwood. It tastes very nasty, but I can see big improvements since she has been taken it. She is slowly regaining her energy and the pain and nausea are subsided. God is so good! I pray everyone in your family is doing wonderful as well❤️

      @@jennyortiz3046 I forgot you were in Ohio too! I’m getting old! Yes, we are planning to do the graduation ceremony in Pensacola! I’d love to meet up with you most definitely that would be great! I just need to make sure that I don’t miss the cut off date to request him in the graduation ceremony and all that stuff but I’m sure it will work out! He’s already looking forward to it. Will your older daughter the one who is in 11th grade now will she be graduating there as well? So you will be a pro when it comes to knowing what to do for your second daughter that’s good! It’s hard to think of them graduating soon I’m going to be a basket case and crying! That’s great that your parents are from Puerto Rico. I wish I could travel anywhere outside of United States. My husband has been to South America a couple of times for mission work, but that’s about it. My oldest son wants to travel a lot so I’m hoping he’ll be able to retain some Spanish. I’m also thinking of getting him private lessons with someone local. I think most kids are not very fond of foreign languages, but Josiah happens to love a lot of them. He wants to take French too, but I don’t think Abeka offers that. With state testing, in Ohio, it was never really required I think. It was just an option. So you could take the state testing or you could have the portfolio signed off on. I always chose the portfolio, but this year I think I am going to do some form of testing. I’m not quite sure which test I’m going to use. One of my friends recommended it to me and I can’t remember what it’s called. I have to find out. I wanted them to get used to other tests. That’s really the main point for me, more experience for them. I wouldn’t send it and I would just keep it for the records and for them to get experience. it’s a tough decision. You could continue doing it or opt out of it which ever you would like or your kids.🤣 I think a lot of homeschool parents do the testing because they don’t regularly give their kids tests or quizzes. I am surprised by how many moms that I know that homeschool and never give their children tests or quizzes and if they do, it’s very rarely. In that case they do the state testing at times. So it all depends. Stay warm tomorrow it’s supposed to be -10 over here in South East Ohio. ❄️☃️

      @@jennyortiz3046 it makes me so sad to think of her with that parasite for so long. It must break your heart. I also feel as if the doctors should’ve maybe caught it earlier, but at least they have now and now she can begin to heal. Life is hard as it is and to have to go through all that pain, I feel so bad for her. Maybe you could try a probiotic? That might help her gut to get some good bacteria. I hope that she can get rid of the parasite for good and I hope the doctors are going to regularly check her to make sure that it’s gone for good! I will keep praying for her! ❤️ God bless your sweet family!

      Hi and thank you for your comment! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond back! For some reason, I was not getting alerts on my phone for comments and they are only going to my laptop which I am not usually on, but will be from now on. I think Abeka has a great literature program. Highschoolers write between 4-5 book reports, one research report, a literary analysis, character analysis etc. I do wish they read more Shakespeare though. They only read one book in 10th grade plus the 4-5 book reports and essays, but I'm not sure about the last two years of high school. For the most part, you and your child get to pick the book report books you'd like to do the book reports on. The teacher on the dvd explains the writing process very clearly. I think it is a good program, but I do know that some others prefer a more advanced writing program. I hear that IEW writing is very good and challenging. I hope this help! Thank you!

    Hi Bonnie Happy New Year!! This year has definitely been a wild one for our family. Turned out that my daughter did not have acid reflux like numerous doctors had said. After requesting a stool test from the 4th doctor, turns out she has the parasite giardia!!! We are in aww that God answered our prayers and told us what she actually has. She has been suffering with this for so long and was misdiagnosed for so long. She isn’t out of the woods quite yet, but we trust and have faith that God is at work within her right now. We believe this year will be a better year. I too wish to start reading some good books. I also want to start this year by keeping up with daily bible readings and making sure God is always first! As always, thanks for your encouraging words and inspiration. God bless you all

    I love this idea to follow along with an advent book during the holidays. So special that you have one you do with your family every year. My hubby got some beautiful Christmas books from his parents when he was a kid and we recently got them and have enjoyed sharing them with our children. The books you shared have so many neat and great ideas to bring more festive cheer or just open the conversation about why we celebrate Christmas. Love it!
