- Pistachio is the 6th Havanese my family has gotten to enjoy.
- Pistachio is also the 1st dog I have been the primary owner of, and I'm learning tons along the way.

What REALLY happens at the groomer
For many dog parents, taking your dog to the groomer can feel really daunting. You want to know what your dog is about to be subjected to, whether or not the groomer will take care of your dog the way you would, and if you're even going to get your money's worth!
I've had these same questions. Luckily for all of us, Jess from Mother of Dog LLC partnered with me to answer these questions for us and show us exactly what happens when you bring your pup to a qualified groomer.

How we avoided SEPARATION ANXIETY with our Havanese puppy
❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is one of the cutest things I have ever seen ❤
It's all about training as puppy to get them used to being alone
This is just the way our puppy lives too! The routines are basically the same except at 10 pm, right before we go to bed, she plays tug of war pretty violently with growling and snorting, to get her last bit of energy out before retiring.🤗
The only time my little Havanese barks is when someone gets close to the car when she is inside the car, and it is parked in a parking lot. I have had her for a couple of months now, and so far, I have only heard her bark five times. I am sure my neighbours don't even know I have a second dog.
ohhh she cries until she is put in the empty shower haha. Enjoy your presence and delivery! Get ours in few hours !!!!
I was born tongue tied in the 1950’s . The Dr snipped it right away . It is connective tissue and does not have a lot of blood supply. I still retain as small lisp but I thank goodness that it was the policy then . I think it is sensible . My DIL pumped her milk from a year because my grandson is tongue tied ,
did she get any cycle before spaying? :) she’s so lovely
I absolutely love your videos….so encouraging. I am now two years since my Boxer (Scooby doo) passed. Feeling ready to get another pup and would love to have a Havanese. Your videos are so helpful. and I love your kind and loving nature towards your pup. Bet you are a fabulous mom too ☺️.
You have awesome videos.
Love your story and such a great video for newbies 🥰
Oh wow…great advice. I had a Lhasa rescue puppy …he was about 3 months and when I got him and he was not very interactive at all…I did all the crating and he potty trained easily, but he paid no attention to me…I thought, “ omg.. he doesn’t like me and this will be an odd relationship. I was pretty distraught, but I kept trying. I was patient and just kind of accepted him that first couple months as he was. Well eventually I noticed him coming closer when I was sitting on the couch…within feet, but closer and closer until one day he wanted up on the couch. I was shocked. It was such moment. so I put him up and let him chill with his favorite toy at the other end he was about 5 months at this point. I tried not to be too excited or force the issue with excitement. Within another month he go closer and closer to me until he was on my lap and that’s where he preferred to be from that point on. He ended up being the best dog I could have ever asked for. Stubborn as an ox, but he was so loving and fun. What a little clown. Never give up on them…it may take months, but be there for them and they can learn to trust you. It took months . So glad I was patient and had the time to be able to be there with him all day. It paid off. That dog had an amazing soul.
So,true…when I first got my Lhasa puppy I went through the same changes as,he grew from puppy to adolescence etc…he grew into a wonderful snuggler.
Thank you so much…I had a wonderful Lhasa and then a boxer I adopted from my daughter. I lost her two years ago due to age…😢 both magnificent animals. I have always admired the Havanese….having had a Lhasa I understood and adored his clownish and stubborn ways. He owned me. So I am researching and appreciate your time. I want a reputable breeder and don’t have a clue where to start…I love in Southern Oregon. So appreciate all the information ☺️. We will give a havanese pup two retired people who will take, such good care.
Was she crated when you left?
I love my Havanese.
We have a Havanese called Houston, he is so handsome, a great attitude, i would say a mans dog, we also have a shih tzu who demands attention all the time by jumping up and down.. Both love chasing, especially Houston who can go really ballistic if chased around the house.. 🤣😂
Hi can you please make a video where you just hang out with Pistachio i love this channel so much and would really appreciate that
Thanks for the update. I've been contemplating getting a Havanese for over a year now. I've picked out a breeder and have been learning about the breed, but the timing hasn't been right yet. By next spring or summer I should have all my "ducks in a row" and I'll be bringing home a Havanese. It's very helpful to get your take on what to expect as the puppy becomes a dog. Thank you.
One more thing to add, non-shedders can overheat SUPER fast! So people who live in hot areas, PLEASE consider this. The vet in our area shares ev-ery year how many dogs die from overheating. Once they overheat, it's nearly impossible to reverse their temperature, and save them. Non-shedders are especially prone to this. PLEASE include this as a con, right after the pro for Havanese breeds being a non-shedding breed. Thanks again!
I like this video, EXCEPT one part. ALL dogs require walks, for a happy, HEALTHY pup. Not only do they see the world through their noses, which allows them to explore different smells in their world, but it's just healthy. They may be fine if you've just had surgery and can't move for days, but ev-ery living thing, needs outdoor walks. So PLEASE consider editing that one part. Otherwise, THANK YOU for the wonderful info on this sweet wonderful breed.
Our mini poodle has just been spayed! This video was very reassuring, thanks for sharing your journey! 🫶🏼
Love this!
I have a Havadoodle she is so lovable, social, intelligent and funny. I love her so much, greatest companion ever. I can’t say enough about this breed.
Have you traveled via plane with any of them? Just want to know how my little guy will do on this up coming trip we’re taking in November… the flight is only about 3 hours
Strongly recommend the recovery suit!!! So much better than the cone. Thank you so much ❤
I've been trying to find a breeder in GA, somewhere about 1 hour and a half or so from Atlanta and I haven't found anything. If anyone knows of one please let me know, I would really appreciate it. 🙌🏻😅
Thank you Awesome 👊🏻
J’ai une havanais. Elle a 3 mois. Elle est remplie d’énergie. J’adore sa queue qui tourne comme les hélices d’un 🚁. Je l’aime de tout mon cœur. Elle me suis partout 🥰😍
I have the puppy blues rn really really bad. This video has really helped me have hope I will get through this. Thank you for making this.
Thank you ❤
Love this dog
Love your dog videos
I strongly prefer to see dog content, not baby content.
There is some very very good advice here. Nothing revolutionary but. Thank you for the reminder of what I already knew. This is a great video. I think you are very wise and respectful and kind dog owners. I’m interested in a Havanese breed. I have only owned collies and poodles.
Our Peggy joined our family in March of 2023 at 10 weeks old. We have watched and rewatched your videos; they have been very helpful for us. Peggy is (was) a brown chocolate Havanese with a white apron, underbelly, and socks. She is slowly becoming silver. When Pegs exhibited a new behavior we'd recall that you covered that in one of your videos about Pistachio; it was very reassuring. Thank you for everything you do for your viewers.
So right!!! I love how my havanese plays by himself. Gotta brush or keep short. They WILL MATT!!! He does follow me around,.....everywhere. But he gets diarrhea if even small amounts of people food. Just don't do it!! Great dog!!! And so SMART!!! Best dog even. But DOES need his hair care for regularly. Not good to leave by themselves all day at work.
I absolutely loved both this and the puppy blues video of yours. We are fostering a 2 year old girl who's a very good dog but my regret and anxiety is through the roof. She slept through her first night perfectly, no accidents, no noise, and I got 2 hours of broken rest because I was so stressed. My appetite's been pretty crappy too and if she isn't napping, I keep checking to see if she needs me and feeling awful if I don't interact with her (I'm also WFH). Because she was a stray, we are taking her out pretty often and no accidents in the house so far. But I'm impressed how long your puppers can wait especially in the afternoon for a bathroom break. How did you decide on the bathroom schedule once she was no longer being potty trained?
Do they get brain tumors?
Where do you live 😱🫢 How do you just put her outside and walk away!?!
I live somewhere with zero predators of concern :)
Why do gen z’s laugh while they’re talking when nothing they’re saying is humorous?
Why did my Havanese puppy pee in my lap? She is now 6 months old.
I cannot THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! You educated me with a Mom's perspective on how to help my sweet Coco go through this procedure. I am grateful for you. Thank you!❤🩹
I’m so glad this was helpful! Best of luck to you and Coco.
You basically described my parents dog who is Havanese, she’s a rascal! Quick question, is it common for them to have noisy a snoring noise when either asleep or almost asleep, their dog sounds like a gramma snoring at times 😃
