Well boys, I’m sorry to say I’m surprised you have as many subscribers as you do. I guess you are super busy and haven’t had time to find a shovel or a broom or even an air hose to clean up the shop and the sawmill itself. I myself am not a fast budget for cleanliness, but then I’m not putting out a video and asking people to watch and send me money. I wish you all the best of luck in your future sawmilling business. God bless and stay safe. ✌️🇨🇦

It would be foolish to inoculate all the ash trees. Butt not to protect even one or two wild specimines which can continue to produce seeds... Especially when it's so God damn cheap and easy. one hundred percent full proof to protect any size ash Until danger from investation populations inevitably passes locally and only low dose reinaculations required

Very nice idea but You waisted a lot of extra money on insulation that created less efficiency. 2x6 wall is only wide enough for r19. r38 requires a 13 1/2” space. Compressing fiberglass makes it almost useless

Do you store your dry lumber in a building that is temperature controlled? Because if you didn't it would absorb moisture again.

I pretty sure it's done to prevent the warping and curling of the wood inwards, if so the shape of the cut shouldn't matter.

I just cut one of these down and was planning to mill it. I just took a look at it today, two weeks since I cut it down, and it has all cracked from the center outward. The bark just falls off, which it had been doing for awhile. What caused this tree to crack so badly? Is it just age?

It's part of drying. If it was dead standing it was already starting to dry out. You probably still have plenty of useful lumber.

I noticed you're not using any vents. Have you noticed any issues with the kiln overheating? I'm currently in the process of constructing a kiln and I'm not sure if I need to vent it or not. It seems to be counterintuitive to install them after I've spent so much effort insulating and air sealing the chamber.

Do you have to worry about "end matching" your boards so the ends lock together with the next piece?

I only see that about 50/50 on hardwood flooring. If your installer is a professional, and he works with clean, square, sharp tools he should be able to butt pieces together cleanly

I am making some flooring from a walnut tree and some white oak trees on a property I own, just looking at how it is done by others as the wood cures. I have been practicing with other species as I am making an oak and walnut floor specifically for my new home. A bit envious of the 4 sided moulder. My saws are simpler, chainsaw mill, an old U.S. bandsaw from the 50's and a tablesaw cast and machined in Elyria, Ohio, my planer is a bit smaller of the same brand, and I am forced to use a slower router table for the tongue and groove and relief as that is what I have with some Yonico flooring bits. It is going very slowly here, but my test batches are working out. I can see that the routing is the bottleneck for me but this is a one off for me for my own home so I will muscle through all of these pieces. I hope that you guys are doing well out in PA.
