This Camera is Hollywood Level but it’s Cheap (BM6K Full Frame)
In this video, I break down why the Blackmagic 6K Full Frame is the ultimate cinema camera you should consider right now. This camera is truly a hidden gem-unbelievably underrated just because it’s not in a “box” shape. But trust me, the 6K Full Frame is a cinematic cheat code that can turn your world into a movie!
I took it to Long Island City, New York, to test it out and was blown away by the results. Watch as I put the Blackmagic 6K Full Frame to the test and see why it outshines the competition in real-world shooting.
If you’re looking for the best cinema camera for filmmakers right now, this might be it. In this video I breakdown its performance, features, and why it’s perfect for creating breathtaking visuals.

Man your visuals are amazing!
Wow I appreciate your comment. I’m obsessed with collecting cinematic images. 😁 photography helps getting nice shots in filmmaking.
Yes my first love is photography as well!!

Thanks my bro!
Thank You, Brother, new subscriber here! I love the Blackmagic line of cameras; I have a BMPCC OG/Original in my kit. Thanks again and Best Wishes to you and your loved ones. Carlos 🙏🏾
Stunning shots, too!!! Amazing footage.
Thanks my bro! That OG camera is still good to this day bro you’re lucky.
Yooo thank you bro! I’m in love with this camera bro.
@@CabralCreates Very welcome! True, the OG is still a Beast, hehe.

the footage looks magnificent when i keep my display in night light mode , try it
Oh 😮 I didn’t know about this, I will try it.
I use the same camera and I love it. Everything you said is 100% on point! Great shots man! Now let's go out and cook! I subbed! Saludos!
Saludos bro! Let’s go and create! Man I’m in love with this camera.
only records in BRAW or does it do ProRes as well?
As of right now it’s only BRaw but hopefully with a software update they could add ProRes as well like in their pocket series. The good thing is that it comes with resolve studio, if you’re sending files to customers you could transcode the files using via their transcoder app.
@@CabralCreates Is the app a separate software or is it part of Davinci Resolve?
I’m sorry I was wrong, you can create proxies ProRes 1080p 10 bit with the transcoding app. But it’s just proxies. The name of the app is blackmagic proxy generator. You can download it and it works in conjunction with resolve, it’s seamless.
Thanks for a great review! The false color feature is great. So cool that Blackmagic let you test it out, a shame you have to return it tho! 😅😅
Thanks it’s a great camera, yeah too bad they won’t let me keep it. 😞
Yeah, for me its either the C400/C80 or PYXIS/BMCC6K. But despite its high price tag in this comparison I am most stronly leaning towards the C400 because of all of its features that makes incredibly fast pace run an gun shooting easier (5 integrated very strong ND filters up to 10 stops and triple base ISO to get your lighting right in any situation, while you dont even need to be in control of the lighting; working Autofocus; multi functional grip, support for 12-pin power connector for broadcast lenses, which dont have AF but are just incredibly versatile, because you barely need to swap lenses because they dont only have big zoom ranges, but also integrated focal range extenders, which reduce the amount of times you need to spend time swapping lenses - you also get the RF 24-105 F2.8, which gives you a lot of options while shooting at any aperture you could ask for, while offering still a wide zoom range even on a full frame sensor, without needing to crop)
Thanks for the comment! Oh the C400 is an excellent camera, unfortunately it’s 8 thousand dollars and the c80 is almost 6k, while those are great choices the price is way above most solo filmmakers. No other camera offers what blackmagic cameras offer at its price point. But yeah if you have the budget and you feel that might be the best choice it would make sense, for me I rather safe the money and just add Lidar autofocus since I would be using vintage glass anyway and some form of ND adapter on the camera, that would be just right for me while still saving a lot of money to buy great quality glass and maybe a B cam. 😁
Your shots were fantastic 👌
Oh thanks I appreciate that! I’m very impressed with the performance of this camera, I wonder how much would I improve my shots once I get to master it, I’m still getting the hang of it.
This was absolutely amazing. Great filming and color grading my g..
Thanks bro! 😁
🔥🔥🔥🔥🎥 love this review bro black magic always punches above its weight class
You’re right! No one is doing what they’re doing in this price range. Plus that image quality is blackmagic 🪄
I saw this video twice, skipped it first, then the thumbnail changed, and clicked on it. Was the one with the camera and all the arrows. Puts the focus on the camera, and not you, which apologies, but that’s what a first time watcher is here for!

@ you’re most welcome! Figured I’d beat UA-cam studio to the punch ;)

Hi. Did you shoot in the super35 crop format? Is the video quality decreasing? I have a lot of super35 lenses and I don't want to sell them at a loss.
I have a GH5, I didn’t shoot in super35 I will try it to see what happens, the quality should decrease a tiny bit but you could also increase the compression ratio and shoot at higher quality, I shot everything at the lowest compression. Man lenses is the most important thing in my opinion and it’s the reason why I would like to upgrade to this camera, because I want to built my dream lens and they’re full frame. What camera do you have?
@@CabralCreates thank you! alexa classic.
That’s an excellent camera! If you’re planing to use the 6K full frame on set you might want to consider the Pyxis since it’s a box shaped camera and it’s built like a tank, it’s fully metal. But if you want a more run and gun cam that you could use as a B cam to your Arri the 6K full frame is excellent. I think you should rent them both and give them a try before you make a decision of selling your lenses. I used the Helios lens for must of the shots a lot of the images might be softer than usual, but I love the character it brings. Feel free to let me know if you make a move and tell me how you like the camera.
@@CabralCreates Yes, thank you! Yes, I would like a movie camera that can be put in a backpack or a raincoat pocket. But without loss of image quality.
@IlyaPodnebesmiy oh then this is the right one. The image quality in this camera is superb and it’s smaller than most cinema cameras out there. I got a small camera bag and I was able to carry the camera there with the battery grip and 2 lenses, that’s one of the reason why I think this one is the best choice for us. Just keep in mind this shoots in BRaw only no ProRes options here, they might add ProRes in the future since other cinema cameras they made have that codec, BRaw runs excellent in Davinci Resolve, I don’t know if you could use it on premiere or Final Cut.
I have the original 6K. Been hacked with the Tilta screen mod, so screen is adjustable. I have it as my everyday carry. It has changed me. I did not realise how much the hybrid cameras were holding me back. So many tricks, gotchas and buried controls. It had me spooked. I thought it was me. That I was just crap at getting footage. All the focus assist and stabilisation was conditioning me to keep my hands off the lens, use a poor holding technique and to let the camera drive focus. And yes my filmmaking was technically crap but more importantly it had no direction. I was a spectator of the camera. Luckily it died of heat exhaustion one day. I got a 6K as a loaner. What they don’t tell you about manual focus and hand holding is just how many decisions you have to make during every take. And while you are making those decisions you are involved in the take. You are growing as a film maker. Your curiosity grows, confidence grows. Ability grows. You start building scenes out of short takes. Understanding direction. And then it becomes fun. You want to shoot because it feels great and you want to do more. Grow more. The Blackmagic pocket camera is like a massive catchers mitt. As long as I don’t see zebras I know I have detail in the footage. White balance? All good, adjust it later. Bit of shakes, hardly a problem when you hold it well and Da Vinci has my back. Focus? Yeah, follow the red outlines - piss easy. My rig out is a cold shoe mount on the top and a quick release strap on the bottom Manfrotto plate. It goes from bag to recording in under 10 seconds. My Canon R6 could never be action ready that fast and get it right. This 6K beast smokes it with ease time and again. Oh, and can I say that just pointing this camera at reality turns the world into a stage. I too have had those smiles from people transfixed by the replay.
Thanks for taking your time to comment. I do agree with you, I’m now a much better shooter because I own a GH5, that camera turned me into a better shooter because of the lack of auto focus, I’ve to say once I put my hands on that blackmagic camera I knew it was special. The ease of use alone allows you to focus on the task ahead and not so much on the camera, and that blackmagic image I felt in love with ever since someone sent me a bunch of fujifilm footage to edit, along all that great footage there was one clip that caught my attention, it look like Arri footage or something like it, So I asked the owner of the footage what camera that was and he said blackmagic, ever since that I knew I wanted to put my hands on a blackmagic camera, hopefully in the future I’m able to upgrade to a blackmagic.
❤❤❤

Wow bro that means a lot to me! Comments like this inspire me to keep going, yoo sometimes I think of quitting this journey, it’s not easy but I’m constantly reminded I should keep going. 😁 thanks bro!
@ Bro, please don't give up! Your videos are art! It inspires a lot of people! 🙏🙌🎥
@penyaevpavel thanks bro it’s tough, at the end of the day if we can’t convert our passion to money it’s impossible to continue. Hopefully I could make it before I’ve to get a second job 🤣
Always love love the Blackmagic system! Great breakdown!
Thanks! Man it’s hard to beat the blackmagic system bro.
YO, glad you had so much fun shooting. Hope you still have love for your GH5 once you send it back, but I'm predicting you will be withdrawing some money out of your account soon to bring this camera back to your proverbial kitchen to continue to cook with it. Once you have your hands on it, it's hard to forget... ;) Cool work here, good insight into what the camera is like in real-life use, and awesome overall as usual. Onward you go!! Thanks for sharing.
Hey bro! Thanks for watching! Well it’s an incredible cinema camera for sure but I won’t be taking money out of my account to buy anything filmmaking related 🤣 the GH5 will be buried with me no matter what how many cameras I buy. But the 6K full frame might be the worthy successor I’ve been waiting for. I’ve always wanted to shoot on blackmagic so I’m happy that I finally got to do that. When you play back video on this camera if you’ve focus peaking on you’re able to see the focus peaking on the playback clip. You’re able to organize your clips in camera, So when you bring your footage in resolve you could have it organized. Plus it takes time to master a camera, I really wish I could have time to do that.
@ sounds amazing. I’m sure you are going to have many unbelievably fantastic cameras in your hands as you progress along your journey. I’m glad you got to have this experience, and I’m also certain that any camera in your hands is going to come with great footage.
Man I appreciate that! Someone lended me a Helios lens as well so hopefully I can make a video about it next. I’m in love with vintage lenses now 😂
@ there are a bunch of different versions of that lens, but if you got even a decent one, I’m interested to see what you think, because of all of the lenses I have used, that one feels the most different of any other lens. It just has a completely unique feeling unto itself. It feels very anamorphic, but it really is one of a kind. Can’t wait to see what you have to say about it.
@RockWILK Man wait until I get my dream trio lens, one day when I’ve enough 💰
