They're just watching it, with Luigi trying his best to tug on any positive remarks made, while Mario stares at him with the look of both annoyance and utter confusion as if Luigi's trying to sell him a pyramid scheme

As someone living in a city that is older than 300 years I can confirm that you'd just build outside the walls. But the rest of the nation? Skyrim isn't a nation, yet. The stormcloaks are currently fighting for the province's independence from an empire that lost a devastating war just a generation earlier. But it would indeed be interesting to see how much rebuilding Helgen would cost. Especially since the game provides us with the knowledge of lumber prices.

In general the architectural style is very close to art nouveau, which would place this house roughly between 1890 to 1910 so the way houses were built back then those walls are almost certainly load bearing.

Let’s be honest, the most unrealistic part of Zelda is that the Hylians haven’t kicked every other race off their native lands. Then again, considering most of their land in modern titles is either A. On molten rocks. B. In a desert. or C. On flood lands. Maybe they already have.

The splicing of PUSH IT with the retired fitness instructor had me fucking dying I would definitely consider myself a sceptic but this was such a well documented little piece of history I couldn't help but heed every word. Allow me to be a nerd Many people, me included. Believe that everything in skyrim is "scaled down" to make the player experience less overwhelming, boring and take less time from the devs to make. In several books and dialogues, whiterun is said to have like thousands of people. Yet in game you have what, 50? Khajiits, mercenaries and travelers in general always mention that going from a city to another takes days of traveling, a lot of resources and a lot of bravery since some paths are extremely dangerous. But the player can do it in like 15 minutes max. Even counting "skyrim hours", it would be just 1 or 2 days. So in lore. Whiterun and the other big cities probably have a lot more room to build and expand. And also a good amount of houses available to purchase. We hear from some characters that they came to live there "recently". And no one ever mentions having a overpopulation problem. The house prices is also something that i'm not sure if it makes sense in the lore. Maybe is just a price that the game thinks it would make sense for the player. Nobody would want to do like months of missions just to be able to afford a house lmao. And traveling giving you so much money could also be just making getting money less boring. But even if it's not. It kinda makes sense. As i said before, everything is very dangerous. We see entire soldier groups and mercenary caravans getting destroyed after trying to explore a cave or dungeon. So doing it all alone and claiming the hundreds of coins reward it's probably not a very realistic way of making a life.

10:00 they probably take the danger of traveling most roads in Skyrim into consideration with the price of delivery quests. For the Dragonborn it’s pretty easy but the number of dead bodies you can find lying by the roadsides indicate that deliveries in Skyrim have a high chance of death.

So far, you forgot to include the civil war in your analysis, and as technically with a change of Jarl could influence ownership, people are probably not as interested in buying a house. For the Dragon borne, they're always siding with the winning side, so they wouldn't be influenced by that factor, but a regular citizen would.

If anything the civil war is helping keep the coming housing crisis at bay. All the young men kept busy fighting away from the cities, the casualties reducing demand post war, less able bodies delinquents roaming the streets as work is more available, and etc. Once victory occurs though then they are probably in for a révolution. Having a bunch of newly unemployed young men who are arms and know how to use them.

This rubs elbows with the "how to make money starting out" and typically, chopping wood, or cleaning out a farm and selling the produce is a very easy way to get started. Mining/Smithing is a good option for longer-term financial stability, but I really feel like Alchemy is *the way to go* because even garbage potions sell for an obscene amount of septims. Also, if this thought experiment implies that you remain at level 1, you need to eat (how many times a day?) and sleep for 8 hours, then it somewhat changes the parameters (you can't get better at making gear or crafting potions) but still, being a low level scab is honestly better than doing what most of the Skyrim residents are doing for a living. I feel like all the housing a player can purchase, is among the highest value property in any given hold, because you're NOT just a transient, you're a Thane before you can buy property at all. So with that in mind, looking at what any given NPC has is a better barometer for how much extra money a given person might have at any point. So 100g is meaningless, but that's 600g a week, *EXTRA* and since many of them give you a quest for finding 3 flowers and they pay you 500g, they must have some extra squirreled away somewhere.

As an Adventurer I surefire would take the Forrest Temple as my Homebase. All I had to do is to let Link go first so he can purge the curse ol Ganondorf put up. Once Link is done the Restauration could begin. Thanks to the legendary prime location one can go to anywhere important in very short time, building materials are also more than just available. And the absolute best thing is that one would not even need to officially buy the land as there's basically no one who can remember that place actually exists, so there's no reason to worry. Well thers Saria who probably owns the place as Sage of that Temple but that girl is to nice to make problems and it's not like I would make the place worse lol

Well, I allways go for the plot of land that's available in Falkreath. I can't say if it's relative cheap or expensive but I bet there way more expensive places that are worse

10:11 Tbf, most of these NPCs in the game aren't even half as strong as tbe dragonborn and theyd die if they attempted to do the delivery themselves. In the game's lore its a similar situation: Skyrim's world isnt built to scale, so in the lore, they're asking you to take a dangerous multi day journey in the middle of a civil war (which means there are less guard patrols to stop bandits). Now 500 gold doesnt seem like quite so much, especially if you play on high difficulties with no fast travel (and no cheats).
