    1. You never want to bring their entire defense near the basket. Makes it to easy for them to trap you, get turnovers and score quickly. 2. Never have your inbounder run down the sideline cause they can easy get trapped on the sideline with no where to go and have to force it back inside where the defense is waiting for a turnover.

I like this. I do it a little different with my 5th graders since they aren’t strong enough to make solid longer passes. This ensures the ball gets in. Having teammates 15 feet apart and having 2-3 immediate options does make it easier for fast decision making.

Right on. I call this 14, normal look with guards inside, screening out for 4/5. And 14 Big, like you had it to start, 4/5 screen out and guards flash in.

Why in the first slide does the (1) cut ball-side, and then stay there, waiting to go ball-side? That's like the opposite of all traditional 5-out rotation principles and is an unusual hybrid between 5-out and some sort of 4-1 creation after the pass. Even in traditional 4-1 the post is supposed to be on the other side of the ball. So, it's sort of contradictory to both 5-out and 4-1, all in one, which is unique to say the least. I like and am intrigued by this whole concept, it's just very unusual, and I need to see more of it beyond this given how unusual it is. It almost seems like you created this without knowing the rules of everything else, but I still remain interested and am not so dogmatic that I can't see it working.

Traditional basketball concepts are starting to get coaches and players in trouble. The game has evolved quite a bit and we need to look at it through a different lens. A ball side cut happens because it’s the first option to score. It’s been a few years since this video and my offensive philosophies have evolved quite a bit (which you’ll see in videos soon) but the objective is always to score quickly - and “traditional” basketball offense does the opposite.

I’m currently coaching a team of 6-7 year olds and our biggest struggle is offensive flow. I want to implement something like this without making it over complicated. I already started with a base triangle formation. Do you have any videos that show a hybrid triangle/motion offense? Thanks

Coach, love the idea, but skip pass from 4 to 2 seems risky against a press. Why not pass from 4 to 5, 2 and 3 can run down opposite sidelines to wings, 4 and 1 then fill in just above midcourt and 5 has great options. What do you think?

Ran a very similar 4 man breaker, worked when I could get kids to run it. One issue we had was a short guard getting trapped on the sideline. Picking the ball up in the corners of death.

I like everything except the drive left move left. I would say drive left move right and look for 5 coming backside. Then if nothing is there, 3 can continue to the left corner and 5 pop back to the right corner. Drive left move left is a lot of extra running for 3 to go back to the right corner and also 1 position coming all the way around to the top wing to fill in and also running into 3 when they're both cutting to the same block!?

The best press break I ever watched, as a coach, was Green Valley HS, Las Vegas. They used the 5 to inbound, 3 and 4 were on the opposite baseline. The 1 and 2 worked together to start the press break. The 5 was coached to be the best passer on the team.

When you throw the ball back to 1 opposite guard 2 rotates to middle while 5 rotates over to ball side wing area - 3 clears to weak side of floor. My question is does 4 stay wide in the back court? So if the pass goes to 2 "middle" he has a 3 on 2 situation with 5 & 3. "Correct"?
