How to Shoot a Basketball - Shooting Hand Off Hand Placement

When shooting a basketball, placing your hand in the center of the ball may actually be hurting your shot. Coach Scott shows you how to move your off hand and keep your shooting hand relaxed. www.point5basketball.com
I agree with 100/%
1. You never want to bring their entire defense near the basket. Makes it to easy for them to trap you, get turnovers and score quickly. 2. Never have your inbounder run down the sideline cause they can easy get trapped on the sideline with no where to go and have to force it back inside where the defense is waiting for a turnover.
I like this. I do it a little different with my 5th graders since they aren’t strong enough to make solid longer passes. This ensures the ball gets in. Having teammates 15 feet apart and having 2-3 immediate options does make it easier for fast decision making.
Are you my caoch this is kayden
This was really good.
Excellent
Right on. I call this 14, normal look with guards inside, screening out for 4/5. And 14 Big, like you had it to start, 4/5 screen out and guards flash in.
Do you have any other drills or plays for 5 out motions
Why in the first slide does the (1) cut ball-side, and then stay there, waiting to go ball-side? That's like the opposite of all traditional 5-out rotation principles and is an unusual hybrid between 5-out and some sort of 4-1 creation after the pass. Even in traditional 4-1 the post is supposed to be on the other side of the ball. So, it's sort of contradictory to both 5-out and 4-1, all in one, which is unique to say the least. I like and am intrigued by this whole concept, it's just very unusual, and I need to see more of it beyond this given how unusual it is. It almost seems like you created this without knowing the rules of everything else, but I still remain interested and am not so dogmatic that I can't see it working.
Traditional basketball concepts are starting to get coaches and players in trouble. The game has evolved quite a bit and we need to look at it through a different lens. A ball side cut happens because it’s the first option to score. It’s been a few years since this video and my offensive philosophies have evolved quite a bit (which you’ll see in videos soon) but the objective is always to score quickly - and “traditional” basketball offense does the opposite.
How do we get more of this?
New videos coming this week.
@@hoopsensebasketball Oh that's awesome. 🙌✨ Glad you're still active and excited to see more, as this seems to be a pretty bespoke version of 5-0/4-1 motion
Anyone here it is year 2024 is that kid is Luka Doncic?
Coach Scott here. You commented at a good time. New videos coming soon and HoopSense getting a full revival this year. 💪
@@hoopsensebasketball can you do a combo of offense of Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki? Plus defense of KG. Im a inspired PF/C i would t teach my son
Thank you so much, Coach! I appreciate it. This was what I was looking for. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. Keep the videos coming. Thank you! 🙏🏽
I’m currently coaching a team of 6-7 year olds and our biggest struggle is offensive flow. I want to implement something like this without making it over complicated. I already started with a base triangle formation. Do you have any videos that show a hybrid triangle/motion offense? Thanks
Please make videos again 😢
So there's no video of what you're talking about?
Coach, love the idea, but skip pass from 4 to 2 seems risky against a press. Why not pass from 4 to 5, 2 and 3 can run down opposite sidelines to wings, 4 and 1 then fill in just above midcourt and 5 has great options. What do you think?
Yes ! I like that 👍
Love the video, I have a question about the purpose of the 360 spins. What’s the importance of them and why should that be something implemented in skill development training?
I really like the spacing and emphasis on executing without dribbling. Thanks 😅
Thank you so much!!! We really needed this
Excellent and informative video!!
When the ball is passed do they all move at the same time to a different spot
Ran a very similar 4 man breaker, worked when I could get kids to run it. One issue we had was a short guard getting trapped on the sideline. Picking the ball up in the corners of death.
Great vid coach Scott thanks for explaining so well
I like everything except the drive left move left. I would say drive left move right and look for 5 coming backside. Then if nothing is there, 3 can continue to the left corner and 5 pop back to the right corner. Drive left move left is a lot of extra running for 3 to go back to the right corner and also 1 position coming all the way around to the top wing to fill in and also running into 3 when they're both cutting to the same block!?
Is there a video about options off this 5 out motion? What about 4 out?
waht software do you use to make the videos plays , also thank you for the video help me teach my team alot
Thank you for the video and your help.
Great breakdown
Much needed! Thank u..
Brilliant and simple, you must be a teacher, lol.... Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Peace
Very helpful 👍
What app are you using? Thank you in advance.
Great stuff 🎉
Muchas gracias... Muy buena
Thank you putting this in today
Nonsense about throwing ball backwards
Any difference running this against a full court 1-3-1?
The best press break I ever watched, as a coach, was Green Valley HS, Las Vegas. They used the 5 to inbound, 3 and 4 were on the opposite baseline. The 1 and 2 worked together to start the press break. The 5 was coached to be the best passer on the team.
Any videos to watch on this?
Miss the content, Coach. Hope all is well
Here after Bellarmine beat Louisville. They seem to have this mastered.
They have mastered it, yes, and I don't believe there is anyone even close. If you haven't seen this video, it's a fantastic introduction to these concepts at a very advanced stage. Fun basketball for sure! ua-cam.com/video/T2T4bJh165g/v-deo.html
Our middle school team of very inexperienced girl's used this press break last season with success
Fun basketball drills 3 players
Hi!! This was very helpful. Thanks
Easiest press break I have seen.
Weve put in ball screens but the Coach designates who can ball screen, usually the big so no or 1 ball screener only
What are some drills for this motion 5 out?
When you throw the ball back to 1 opposite guard 2 rotates to middle while 5 rotates over to ball side wing area - 3 clears to weak side of floor. My question is does 4 stay wide in the back court? So if the pass goes to 2 "middle" he has a 3 on 2 situation with 5 & 3. "Correct"?
Hmmm doesn’t seem realistic for high school to college but thanks ! Appreciate the teachings
Any other way is not smart
1 should cut middle after pass to 5 then 2 should drop ba k to safety should 5 need to reverse ball coach
