    This is a good thing to think about and an interesting problem. I typically find that the board is not coming up to my back foot back because my pop and jump do not match (i.e. I jumped too high and didn't pop enough), or I did not push my front foot out far enough in order to bring the board up to the proper height. It's actually a good thing that your back foot can get away from the board a bit, but you do want it to be intentional, as this is what will allow you to be away from the board enough for it to flip during flip tricks. When I do a good ollie I can feel the board pop up into my back foot, it's not that I'm doing anything with my back foot other than popping and jumping, the proper pop power, timing, and my front foot are what brings the board to my back foot. This is what allows me to do kickflips, heelflips, etc. although with some slight adjustments of course but the general idea is that you're ollieing and getting away from your board just enough so that when you flick it, it can spin while it is coming up to your back foot just in time for you to catch it.

    I can't even get the board to flick. It probably won't take you long to do a double kickflip! Did you get the kickflip after all?

      I did manage to land a kickflip yes :) And in my eyes it was a very pretty one actually, i've posted a short clip of it on my insta and even the professional skateboarder from the San Francisco Bay area Aaron Kyro commented on it :D Sadly due to some life decisions i didnt really have much time anymore to improve or continue skating :/ But for your flicking problem - the Videos from Aaron Kyros "Braille" yt-channel explain it very nicely and thats how i learned and finally managed to do it :) (and as you can see it can take some time to actually do it)

    I just had a thought in my mind I wanted to share, I don't know if it will work in practice. If you think about it, maybe you want to have your back foot reach the same level as your front foot when the front foot has reached the tip of the nose (assuming you have pushed it that far), and have it reach this level at exactly this time (not later and not earlier). To achieve this, maybe you have to predict the timing with which your front will stop levelling out the board, and raise your back foot at such a rate that it apexes at the right time

    • @Trickyman95
      @Trickyman95 3 роки тому

      im with you there, i noticed the reason for the backfoot is the timing. But visualizing it with the analogy helped me fix the timing. just thinking about it or knowing how it works doesnt make your body understand it immedietly. but if the real logic helps you that totally fine too!

    • @GabrielConstantinides
      @GabrielConstantinides 3 роки тому

      @@Trickyman95 I'm gonna be honest the logic doesn't help my body at all, I'm not that good at applying it

  • @GabrielConstantinides
    @GabrielConstantinides 3 роки тому

    I like the analogy, thanks for the video. I think I might struggle to put it into practice myself, but I hope I give it a go and manage to surprise myself. I have this exact issue with the Ollie, my friends seem to keep their back foot in contact with the tail of the board but mine always comes off. I think it is reasonable to be honest, if you think about it a back foot rising quicker than the board loses grip with the board, whereas a back foot rising slower than the board inhibits the tail from rising. So there must be a sweet spot where your foot is moving effectively in sync with it, but in my mind that seems very hard to achieve

    • @Trickyman95
      @Trickyman95 3 роки тому

      so you could try popping the board while standing on the floor next to it and see how it reacts. when you get a feel for that you try just jumping on your board without popping, then you try both together, while you jump up straight, use your ankle to pop the board...a major issue with leveling out the board for me was not tilting my front foot. If you look at 1:31 the top of the foot is touching the board this will prolly also help to drag it a bit forward if u have trouble with it going backwards...hope i could help. lemme know how its going (dont expect miracles its a pretty steep learning curve imo) Good luck
