Thank you! He’s the best!
Absolutely best video for troubleshooting this issue. I had issue after issue with my RV oven and was able to light it right away... we are having cookies tonight yay lol.
Hey! I’m glad it helped! Enjoy the cookies!
thanks
I just have a small flick but nothing lighting for the stovetop and oven...suggestions???
Hm. Good question. I would check to see if it nights when you use a match or a lighter. It may be that your gas line is clogged. If you take the burner cap off, you’ll see a little piece under there with a tiny hole in it. You can use something like a toothpick to clean that out. Just be careful not to break any part of it off in the hole.
Great video. I appreciate you pointing out that you can increase but NOT decrease pressure once pressurized...makes total sense but would have probably overlooked that
I am glad you found this video helpful! What other topics would you find helpful?
I notice the packaging says it's for outdoor use only. What does that mean exactly? Is it not safe to use even though it says it's lead free? I notice it also has a California state warning that it could contain lead and not be safe. So this is somewhat confusing. Thank you.
Hello! Many products have the California state warning. That has to do with California’s state law that requires businesses to label items that certain chemicals, even if it does not make the product unsafe. This is a California standard, not a national standard. These regulators are marketed for both RVs and boats and are used by many. I am separate from Camco, so particular questions like this may be best to ask them directly.
@@DustyTrailRV Thank you!
I hope you got it free, there's only one way to sleep on that - sleep on the floor - more comfortable
In my experience, a lot of the comfort around these depend on your weight. If you are a large person, you may find them more uncomfortable. This is the third trifold I have used, and it’s the most comfortable out of all three. I use it frequently without issues.
I loved your line “I don’t get on my own nerves” . I am just about to embark on an adventure in my new Airstream and thoroughly enjoyed your video

Thanks! I hope it was helpful!
I appreciated hearing about some of the subtler topics around the changes to RV living. They're maybe even more real that the mechanics of RVing. Thank you!
I am so glad you found the video helpful!
SMART! Vans are built to handle heavier loads and objects for longer periods and distances than RVs, that are slapped together in a quicker time frame and with cheaper materials at higher prices for the quality you think you are getting - RVs- a POOR CHOICE!
Great point!
Hes a good looking puppy. I love Dobermans and always wanted one. But i knew i didnt have the active lifestyle that fits a Doberman. Seems like they were very popular in the 70's. I remember seeing them more often then. But kinda disappeared for a while
Hey Thanks! Dobermans are such a fun breed. And, I have definitely noticed how it seems like there are fewer now.
Glad you and the RV made it through the storm. I am getting ready to go full time next month. Already prepping for the cold winters here in Texas.
Yep! We made it through tropical storm Debbie. Not sure about Milton, though. Fingers crossed!

Very good video , one of the best I ever see. Honest words. Most of channels out there are just profiting on youtube views. Nothing against them. Anyways Great job.

@@DustyTrailRV please address the costs of on-road repair shops and assessing value of workmanship. Are these shops able to do good quality warranty work?
@@DustyTrailRV
@@beckyelliott2871 Hey! Great point! On-the-road repair shops and mobile repair techs can do great work. Like anything else, you must do your research and due diligence to ensure you only allow qualified professionals to work on your rig. There are many forums and online resources where people can discuss the costs of this work.
Good video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very good ideas. Parking the travel trailer east and west with the bedroom opposite the sunset really helped. This also helps when you open windows, you get a good north/south cross wind. I have a cat and dog so i like to open my windows on cooler nights to air it out
Good point on the crosswind! I think parking position and location is one of the biggest things we can do to help the heat!
Last night i ordered a similar one. Cant wait to get it. The door window lets a too much light in
Nice! I noticed a huge difference when I installed mine. I am sure you will too. I swear my door just radiated heat.
Great video and topic. I pick up my used, 25ft class C that I’m paying cash (got a rv inspection) , bought a used Thousand Trails Adventure membership paid off. This provides me the piece of mind that I’ll always have a RV spot. This allows me to just deal with monthly expenses, which I am disciplined with. I’ve been researching, planning and dreaming of going full time RV since 2021 and I am so excited. I’m taking the online Rv training course to learn how to fix and maintain it myself. I think this is a great lifestyle so long as you research and know what you are getting into and have realistic expectations. I’m nervous but more excited than anything!
Good for you! It sounds like you’ve done your due diligence. I think your approach will help you be successful! Congratulations and good luck!
What is a thermister
Hey! A thermistor is a little temperature probe that gets plugged into your evaporator coil and it helps your ac avoid freezing up.
I thought that was a thermometer
@@mailgail1if you google AC thermistor, it will give you more information.
Good job ❤
Thanks! What sort of upgrades do you like to see?
Slick video! I’d like inquire about your system at 00:48 that you use with your ladder to get the new unit up and the old unit down! Looks like a holder that tracks on a traditional extension ladder. Any words of wisdom? Thanks!
That is the brain child of Dan (Dan themanrvrepair.com). It looked to me like it was an electric hoist with a platform that was tracked to the fly section of that ladder. I’ve seen hoists like this before where the motor is mounted at the bottom of the ladder and there is a reverse pulley attached to the highest rung of the ladder and then a platform (of some sort) that runs the rails like a track.
The other reason an AC unit leaks, especially if leaking when it rains, is the gasket between the RV roof and the AC. It is a black foam large square gasket with a square 14" hole in middle. You may be able to see it from the inside if you take the filter down. Make sure your AC unit is not loose. Do not over tighten. To replace you need to pull the AC. This is easy though. There are vids. When I did this, I did not remove the shroud at all. One trick is do not remove all the wires the go the box you see attached to the shroud at minute 1:14. Instead remove the box from the shroud from inside the RV. You can see it looking up. Then unplug the multi-pin connected from that little box to the AC. Now the AC is free from the RV and you can lift it up and turn it over to fix the gasket.
That is a great point! Luckily this unit was pretty new so I didn’t worry about the gasket being bad. I have definitely seen them start losing their structure after several years. I also didn’t mention that it could be the ac unit freezing up. All great points! I’ll have to make another video when I come across an ac unit with a failed gasket or a frozen evaporator coil! Thanks for your comment! Hopefully it will be helpful to others!!

If things look like they are going to get nasty, I tow my rig inland about an hour. I work in the area, so I can’t go too far.
Honestly, thank you so much for this video me and my fiance were smacking our foreheads, we struggle with that damn oven no more! 😂

Love your videos - so informative and easy to follow. We have been full-time RVing over in Lakeland for 14 months now. We love saving money by doing our own maintenance and your videos have helped us achieve that. Thank you so much.
Hey neighbor! I’m so glad to hear that my videos have been helpful for you! Are there any video topics that you would find helpful?
Your lifestyle is much like ours - we work during the week and do some traveling in our RV on the weekends. There are not a lot of videos on UA-cam about that lifestyle. Also, you had previously said you would do a video tour of your rig. Would love to see what upgrades and changes you have made. In the meantime, keep up the great work and stay safe in your job.
@@ChrisElrodPastorI completely agree. There isn’t enough content out there for people that do full timing while also working during the week. But there are so many of us! Keep an eye out for some new vids this next week. I’ve got some tropical storm Debbie clean up content and then a walk through in the works! Stay safe!
Now RV parks won't let in any RV that is older than 10 years old. Apparently, people pull them in and abandon them because it's cheaper to do that than to dispose of the RV themselves. Or they are not maintained and now the people can't pull them out. This is expensive... This is why my rig can be parked in a parking lot, and go stealth. I'm in a cargo van.
Yep! Some RVers definitely ruined it for the rest of us. The age rule is a very unfortunate rule, but there are definitely parks who will still accept older rigs. And, I am glad you found a way that works for you! I have heard from a bunch of people love going stealth and almost never go to RV parks. That's why this lifestyle is great. You can do it whichever way works best for you!
RV parks are 🤢
As she said it's more of a challenge in the east or the south. I'm from Florida trying to move older 5th wheel back there but I can't afford what some senior RV resort park wants to charge. I had also never heard about lot rent that goes sky high during snowbird season. But it is do-able just takes more effort and don't expect alot you can feel awesome especially if your craving g the disconnect, it can for some be easier especially if you're independant or more spiritual ... feels nearly "Totally Freeing" not for everyone but if u like it 👍🏞👩🏻🇺🇲🌠❤️🔥
@@boy777jc97 I think you are totally right. It takes more effort, but is great if it is right for you. I hope you have better luck relocating down here. Especially with the rising lot rents.
Thank you for this video. Simple and to the point. You saved me $$$.

YOU ~ ROCK ! ! 🤛

Is this inability to lower the water pressure a function of static pressure vs dynamic pressure? In other words,, if you open the sink faucet while the water is on, does the pressure change? Can you then lower the pressure? I thought you needed a faucet open to properly adjust the pressure, but I don't know if this is correct or not.
Once you've hit a pressure limit, you cannot reduce it without releasing the pressure first. When I set these up, I leave a faucet running inside to get an accurate pressure read. With this particular regulator, I had to shut the water down and release all the pressure to be able to lower the pressure.
Thank you. ✌️🙂, Awesome information. I really appreciate your honesty. I'm like you as for being an introvert. I'm feeling that I'm into being an rv person. I've been in a sticks and bricks life and I'm retired now. This has really given me the right stuff to be concerning. Thanks again ✌️😏 🌈🎶
I hope this was helpful! I think RVing is a great opportunity! Especially for retirees! Congrats on the retirement. What are so other topics that I could cover that you would find helpful?
Cool thx
Anytime! Let me know if there are any topics you would find helpful for me to cover!
Back in 1992, wanting to move out of my parent's house, I found a leftover "Shasta" 25RK 5th Wheel that was marked down from $18,000 to $10,000! I decided to live in it at my state's oldest (and nicest) mobile home park. Normal, non-moveable trailer homeowners paid $300 per month for rent, but had to cut their own grass, rake leaves, and shovel snow. RV owners paid $315 per month but all yard care was done for us by the maintenance staff. And le$$ than $100 paid for my electric bill, land line phone bill, and propane gas. It became almost everybody's favorite place to hang out. And my neighbors knew how to roll up my awning during a wind storm, plus knew where my spare key was located un case rhey ran out of food or beverages. Because I didn't want to but a lousy gas mileage vehicle to tow it, I traded it in on a leftover "Itasca Micro Spirit" reduced from $33,000 down to $25,000. Unfortunately, a fall off a ladder prevented me from returning to the park. Have since owned a "Winnebago LeSharo", an "Airstream 22CCD" and an "Airstream Parkway". Can't even afford to, um, "pay attention*!!! 😮
Well done

I am so glad you found the video helpful! I agree! DIY projects are so much easier with videos that show the steps. Are there any other projects that you have that I can help with?
That install is SO WRONG. Without the plenum duct installed your loosing all the airflow
Thanks for your concern, Mark. But, I have a ducted system, and my ducts are above the plenum duct. Installing the duct you are talking about would result in no airflow in my ducts. And, even with some of the airflow going out other ducts, I still get plenty from the plenum. Do you have a ductless or ducted system?
@@DustyTrailRV I'm tracking you're logic, but it looks like those added foam blocks put a big restriction on the return airflow, increasing static pressure on the intake side which reduces cooling air and compounds loss due to the turbulence on the output side. As a test, and content idea, get a Anemometer ($25-$40) and run your numbers on all the outputs as currently installed. Then install it as designed and run the airflow numbers again. Might be a wash or it could be a big difference. Since you spent the time and money on it, making sure you get the maximum performance from the upgrade is worth the effort. I did my rig before and after an RV Airflow upgrade and it was such a big improvement I bought them for the other ACs.
@@TC-nn7xkthe foam blocks are in place because my previous AC needed a larger hole. Because my goal was to still use my other ducts, this additional space would have allowed for a reduction in air flow to the ducted area. If I installed this exactly as designed, I wouldn’t be able to use it the way I wanted to. I think it would be cool to test the change in air flow for content. But regardless, this upgrade has significantly improved my life in the RV. Are you an AC tech? I worked with one on this install.
Nice! but why you don't use the air intake duct? that could help a lot with efficiency.
Are you talking about the foam ducting? I have a ducted system and wanted to see if I still got decent airflow in the ducts. This unit is a ductless one, and I may add different ducting in the future, but it works very well the way it is. Great question! Do you have a ducted or a ductless system?
@@DustyTrailRV sorry I am talking about the air return, when I saw other installations they all use the black insulated form to separate the air return. I have a duct system and on the fence of deciding ducted or free flow like yours to go with.
Well, it sort of depends on the set up you have. I have a 34-foot TT and I have this main AC unit and then a second one in the bedroom area. Because of this, I don't really mind having reduced airflow through the ducts. But, if you rely on your ductwork, I would get a ducted one. Eco-Cool has a ducted one, it just looks different than this one and you would also have to replace the thermostat. Do you have two ACs? And, how big is your rig?
@@DustyTrailRV my rig is only 25 feet, spinter chasis with 1 AC. however the AC is very close to the bed which I think it's not ideal to have free flow since the vents are pointing to our bed.
Yeah. Smart thinking. I would stick with a ducted system in your rig. Take a look at the plenum on the ducted version. It looks a lot different than the one I installed. And, it would require another step with the thermostat replacement. But, I definitely think you are headed the right direction. This AC blows my previous one (coleman mach 15k) out of the water. Check out the pics at this link so you can see the different look of the ducted one: ecocool.premierproducts.net/products/eco-cool-white-version
It sounds like it could be this that is causing the leak. It could also be from your ac freezing up from a refrigerant leak, or even an issue with a poor seal. The only way to find out is to get up there and take a look. Do you have a way to access your roof?
Wow, you made it look so easy and mine is so high I am afraid to go all the way up. And I mine started leaking water and then stopped and still leaks water when it’s not even on. Has to be this.
Thanks for the oven pilot light video. You were spot on about the thermocoupler not being close enough to the pilot light. Saved me a bunch of money. Thanks again
