    Fun fact: there seems to be a reason why a handful of the 200 existing Darthlimiters were labeled on the front panel not as "Darthlimiters" but as mastering limiters, but were specified as Rev B.

    Hello! Help me understand! I bought Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0. I work in Cubase. Why is it that when I turn the output volume down to , the peaks still pass through and a red peak lights up on the channel in Cubase? In software limiters, by reducing the output volume, we protect ourselves from peaks, but in Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0, when we reduce the output level, peaks still pass through?! Is this how it should be or am I missing something? And, another question - does it matter where to install the Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 control plugin itself, on the master channel or on the channel of the track being processed? And, also, when the input and output level knobs are moved to the far left position, the sound, although quiet, still passes through, is it really supposed to be like that? I changed the firmware, read the instructions, but it hasn’t helped yet, the peaks are passing! Thank you in advance!

      Thanks for the help! I did everything as you advised, but unfortunately the peaks continue the same way. I've already tried recording between two computers via analog connections and the peaks appear again on the recording computer. But it shouldn’t be, on software limiters, when the output level is reduced even by -05 db, the peaks do not pass, but in Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 they do. And, in general, is it necessary to connect the sound card via analog inputs and outputs with a cable, or does this processor also work via a USB plug-in? Or maybe some kind of calibration is required? Help me please!

    • @SuperSerapont
      @SuperSerapont 5 місяців тому

      Yes, this is exactly the problem. Even when I reduce the output level by -05 or -1.5, the peaks still pass. I don’t use an external mixer; all connections are direct to RME UCX.@@SuperIZL

    • @Mike-vr7mb
      @Mike-vr7mb 4 місяці тому

      @@SuperSerapontYou must’ve figured this out or maybe not but this is an analog unit, digital limiting is different from analog. Analog will not brickwall your peaks, it will surely limit but it won’t clamp all your peaks at the Output setting and this is why you need a digital limiter at the end JUST to create a brick wall to stop the peaks from going through! Hope this helps!

  • @RJ1J

    It definitely retains more dynamics than the first version. It seems like they learned a lot about attack and release. I don't agree with you about the saturation, I think odd is too much even at low levels for this track, pushes the base way too loud. When you went to the sides, it was distorting. I really hope Access Analog gets one of these. I messaged them and asked them to get one, and they said they'd consider it. They used to have version one of the BM. But either it broke or they had to sell it for some reason. They only have one dedicated limiter, the Pye limiter. Any good? Or can you use the new Neve Master Bus Transformer as a limiter by pushing the output really high? They have an MBC, but you have to pay £40 an hour for it.

    I prefer a pure analogue signal path ..DSP for me sounds unnatural. I also found it a massive relief to hear a conventional stereo mix after listening to surround sound mixes which again sounded synthetic.

    Have you compared the noise floor of the different units on an analyzer? I’m wondering if moving from an internal power supply to an external 12v wall-wart has had any effect? Either negative or positive.

    I must admit that I first passed over this video because of the electronic music. But I gave it another go and realized the synths provided a consistent reference. However, a wider tonal frequency would have been nice. Regardless, a great review that sold me on the limiter. Thanks.

    Are you really sure they work better for mix and mastering work with the Extension in your room? When I tested the Extension System they were of course amazing but also felt like a huge wall of sound and very wide, even in the lows. That might be too much for some rooms. Even tho at lower volumes they naturally compensated more for the fletcher munson curve. But I tested them in a big room. And I have to add I was hugely impressed by the Kii Seven Awesome Channel bwt! Cheers Tom
