Redwood Rally 2024 - Coos Bay - Day 3
Welcome to Coos Bay Oregon for day 3 of the rally. After a challenging day in Somoa yesterday we're excited to right some of the wrongs and try to do better!
The sloped starting line was a challenge for the Nova but it was fixed with the help of a friend. The heat got to us a little bit, staying hydrated, relaxed and well rested is starting to be a challenge we didnt expect! The sights were stunning, and we managed to relax and create lasting memories along the coast despite our hectic schedule.

Redwood Rally 2024 - Somoa - Day 2

Welcome to the only race track I've ever been to thats on a beach! We had some issues at Somoa last year, so this year the plan was to show up, put in our one good run and get on the road. That way we could see the beautiful sites the coast of California has to offer... as usual things don't always go as planned. As long as you're able to drive away from Somoa at the end of the day and there's ...

Welcome to Medford Oregon on Day 0! We get everything unpacked, setup the cars, and calm our nerves on this much needed test and tune day. Last year we showed up very much untested the day of racing, so it was great this year that we had the time to feel the cars and our process' out. Before this event the Nova dyno'd at 665whp and it weighs right at 4000 lbs with me in it. Stephs car dyno'd at...

The moment has finally come! I've been thinking about this build for the last year or more and now we get to actually do it and put it in the car! I DEFINITELY had some challenges along the way. From hydrogen embrittlement, to ordering the wrong parts, getting parts that weren't up to the tasks and a time crunch it was quite the journey. But in the end we got the car running and driving and so ...

    Okay to start. Overall, not a bad day, bad licks are gonna happen, just gotta roll with the punches and keep after it. Couple thoughts: 1) I don't think the Mustang likes shifting up near the rev limiter or on the limiter. I'd target a bit lower shift point, (obviously take that with a grain of salt as it's based on what I can see in the video not reality). 2) The clutch on the Nova, probably bypassing internally (internal leak). This is the only thing that would explain not having a loss of fluid but loss of pedal pressure. My gut would lean towards the throughout bearing over the master because they tend to see more abuse. Lastly, you're both killing it. Looking forward to seeing what happens on Day 3.

    What does everyone think is going on with the clutch in this thing?? It’ll be fine one minute and before I get up to race it’s spongy! That is unless I sit and pump it forever

    • @giovanhagar

    Great video, the most entertaining moment is when Stephanie said I blacked out. Oh, the advantage of less weight. My old altered ran 6.36 @ 105 in the eighth, and the Nova ran basically the same mph. In the 1/4 mile, the altered ran 10.18 @ 125mph, and you had more mph, but higher et. You obviously have more horsepower in those cars. I had to build the engine to stay above 10 seconds because the old square tube chassis wouldn't certify for our NHRA track. It was a 468 bbc with the smallest Crower non roller solid cam I could order, PG, 12 bolt 4.10 and 14X32 slicks. I think Stephanie's first run may have been ruined by the burnout. I believe she was still in a wet area doing the burnout instead of pulling further past the water and doing it. I believe in doing a 3 second burnout at low rpm. Wish I would have flown out to watch.

    • @WompFilterProductions
      @WompFilterProductions 2 дні тому

      I've been reading this comment for a few weeks now, unsure of how to respond as there are a lot of variables in play. Ultimately it depends on where on the car you mount the camera. For example I mounted a camera on my mini cooper above the license plate and you can back into things where you'd swear its gonna hit and yet you have another foot of space.. mostly because the distance from the license plate area to the actual furthest point on the vehicle is different. Best thing I can say is that it will have to be adjusted to every install. Fortunately this mirror allows the lines to be adjusted, many dont. What I would do is install the backup camera where it makes sense and then get a yard stick and put it under the camera. Adjust the lines on the mirror to where you want a vehicle to be when you park and you're done and you know its exactly how you want... hope this helps!

    • @cowpunkability
      @cowpunkability 2 дні тому

      You just have to buy the ones that can zoom in not just adjust the camera lenses up and down. How far away are car is behind you is to me the most important thing, you can’t expect these mirrors to do everything so if you want peripheral in my example, I had a cargo van so I had to install cameras that would help me with blind spots on the size and then I cried most about how far away was the car behind me. Some of these are trying to do too much, I think that’s a little bit of the problem but also I have read people who have more technical knowledge describe that it’s almost impossible to get an accurate sense of how far a car is behind you other than the rearview mirrors we have in cars that we look at because of the digital feature and the fact that there’s a camera on the back of your car so there’s very little chance it will be that accurate. However, the new ones that they’re making that have a zoom feature, are what I prefer. Then I think you just have to practice over and over with your car till you really understand what the distance is.

    Great memories being made. My Dad and I did a rebuilt my first engine in a 64 Falcon it was 1974 and I was 14 years old. It wasn't a V8. 170 six cylinder three on the tree manual choke. It was in much better shape that your project. We spent the next 2 years fixing it up and it was my very first car. Enjoy your time with your Dad.

    Does the rear view camera work automatically when the gear is shifted to R or do we need to pull a cable from the gear?

    a question, does the wolfbox logo every time you start it it comes with the logo, or can you cancel it, as it is annoying ?

      I do believe it shows wolfbox everytime. To be honest it happens so fast and im usually fumbling with this or that i never notice it.

    Ugh, dang NW weather! The wife was just starting to get over the first time butterflies and ready to make a real lick. Better luck next time.

      I know it :( When I watched all the footage I was floored cause she was so close to breaking through that comfort barrier! Hopefully next time we can just start from there :P Thanks for watching!
