First Chair in wind ensemble: I hate my life whenever I play this piece

is french horn pretty much a brass saxophone

That rhythm is pathetic, scary, and weird all at the same time. The fact that for almost the entire song, you play on the “and” counts is HORRIBLE, but also it’s rlly boring… I’ll need to play this my sophomore, junior, and senior year. I’m a freshman.

When I was in high school I played alto sax. One small problem-so did about 6 other kids. My teacher put me on this part because we have no horns and he knew I could transpose. The next year I was sax section leader and played alto 1, then I took up clarinet and have played clarinet 1 on sleigh ride every year since

Very nice. You should apply for the Disneyland All-American College Band program. I really am enjoying these Sleigh Ride videos that UA-cam keeps suggesting to me. I know nothing about brass or woodwinds, but I liked your fingering and lips (breath control?) in the Sleigh Ride vid.
