So true Junior is driving a 65 mustang and the whiskey runners were doing it in 30s, 40s, and 50s. But when you watch it you forget about the historical facts. Whiskey made in a still is rotgut.

They must be using AI for the closed captions, because while the race cars are idling for a pit stop, with the exhaust note the only thing heard, the closed captions say "Music". Funny. But I can agree with the Prius driving programmers this time. lol

I'm going to have a time with the pukes in Hollywood and specially the producer of that movie Argo. If you can't find anybody to write that better. I loved to see that Confederate flag flying above the race track. This type of racing started in the south, and we should be proud of it and fly the Southern Flag at every NASCAR RACE TODAY !!!!!! NASCAR should never go woke!!! Stick to your Heritage!! NASCAR and ICE HOCKEY are the only sports left that Have a majority of White Americans in them. There is nothing wrong with that!! The NFL and NBA are both majority of black players. I know this is about Junior “Jackson” and not Junior Johnson, as in it’s not a biography, but it is still odd to me that at the end he decided to keep driving for the JD Stacy type owner instead of running his own car and team. I understand that Junior raced for many different teams, sometimes three different teams in one season, but he also raced for his own Jr. Johnson & Associates team. His career as an owner was equal to or better than him racing and I’d think showing him using the winnings from Darlington to revive his own car and team would better reflect Junior’s independent spirit. Just my thoughts.

I've watched this a few times over the years and I always wonder if it's based on any one drivers career or if it's just a conglomerate of the early racing days and the drivers that forged the way ahead?? No one that I've seen has said much on the matter so I tend to think it's just a general kind of over all telling of the early drivers and not one in particular. As the history tells that NASCAR was built up from the Moonshine runners of the 1930's - 1950's and even as late as the 1960's for some. SO seeing that I haven't heard otherwise I'm guessing this is that. GREAT MOVIE and well told for the most part! There were and still are a lot "JR's" in NASCAR and otherwise racing in general in the USA of course. After looking through the comments a bit more I see folks attributing the main character (Jeff Bridges) to quite a few racers. But I thought a lot of those names are not from the earlier days. But I'm not sure.

Alway's loved this old flix, solid actor's & Jim Croce's epic "I got a name" was a brilliant touch 💪 Some serious historical intertwining going on in it as well, such as Richard Petty's iconic STP 43 car being used as "The Villain" car on the track, when in real life both Richard & the car are universally beloved, hell Mr The King is a Icon & a Legend all over the world, but South of the Mason-Dixon line he's a God, both in 73 & in today's world as well! So strange choice there with that. Then further more, JC's " I got a name" was not only the song used in the movie, but TBS showed a collage of antiqued racing pic's & played that song going off air after The King's only son, Kyle Petty, won his first NASCAR race in 1985! The last piece of irony is of course, the sad fact that JC's fatal plane crash happened in Sept of 73, just about 2 month's after the movie debuted at my local drive-in theater. What a tragic loss that was for all who love great music. RIP JC & The Great Junior Johnson too 🙏
