Nice!!
Where you catching 14 inch perch.
Lake Simcoe. There are much bigger than 14” there.
Love dipsys. We run 100 foot lead behind them! They are deadly!!!
Another great video! Thanks Derek! I ironically talked to some friends from Manitoba earlier today. You guys are a long way from the Outer Banks of North Carolina but well worth the trip.
Derek, once I review the current track, is it necessary to mark various waypoints along the track or just "save current track"? And secondly, how do you access saved tracks?
Hey Kevin, Just save current track buddy. It will show as a cookie crumb trail on you graph. You can find them under saved but they will be right there on you unit to follow them. Super handy when there’s bad weather or bad lightning to see weed lines etc. I have dozens marked all over province.
@@derekstrub I was hoping you would say that! Thanks!
Are there certain drag settings on the tekotas that won't allow the reel to take up line? I've had issues with star drags needing to be tightened significantly in order to let me gain line when reeling. Thanks!
JW fishing. They operate exactly the same as a baitcasting reel. In order to reel in the drag must be tighter than force/weight on the other end. If it’s set correctly you will be able to reel when the fish isn’t fighting hard.
Look at all the meat on the rib cage you are throwing away. ua-cam.com/video/zxXKnXzPjXM/v-deo.html
Great job
Thanks Gary! If you ever have any requests let me know.
I can keep my kings from Lake Michigan alive before I release them in my bathtub!
With your knowledge, how would you compare it vs Vexus DVX22? I chase salmon on Lake Michigan with other googans on weekends and I’m leaning towards Rage
Do you feel a snubber is necessary for walleye?
Same question
No, not at all.
Just Found your channel Derek, Now I know what you have Been Doing, Take Care & Enjoy
Interesting about frying the eggs like the filets. Never heard of or tried that, but I'm curious now.
Looks like a really dry riding boat
It really is! I had a few people post about how wet I was but with a 30 mph wind blowing wave spray straight back in the boat that’s just a reality. I’ve been on 40’ boat on the ocean and been soaking wet
@@derekstrub Question Derek, I have not seen the boat in person. It doesn't appear to have as accentuated of a bow flare as a yar craft TXF, Ranger 612, warrior or... Is it just that all videos don't do it justice or is this a feature of the variable hull design? It "looks" on video more of a cigarette, Donzi type bow design (steep deadrise, limited >0 bow flare).
@@johng.9877 You are correct John, it doesn’t have the bass boat style bow flare from the butt seat forward. More of an ocean wave cutting bow.
I find these graph videos extremely helpful. This type of insight is invaluable. Thank you
Great video Derek Frying up the eggs is a must..so good especially with a little curry paste on them..mmmm
Thanks Mark! Definitely going to try the curry on them next time.
Do you know where I can get a chart for the 1-2-3 setting with 30lb power pro?
Sorry Paul, I didn’t see this. What size dipsey?
Nice!
Awesome video Derek gonna have to re watch this once I get some more Bellwood jumbos!
Great video Derek keep them coming !!!!
Thanks Mark
Great video Derek ! Thanks !
Thanks Bowdz
Sick video Derek
Thanks Cam
That’s a trout
Very Cool!
Thanks Bill. I’m going to get the Oxygen saturation levels done soon. I assume it may be the highest in the industry. Will post when I find out. Cheers
What motor did you go with?
I asked this in the other video, who did the install?
Hey Jamie, I did all the rigger set up and Front graphs.
Who ran the power through the boat?
I really like your setup and would like to get this done in the off season.
Who installed your riggers? I just bought a rage and I'm looking for an installer.
I did my own Jamie. Where are you located?
@@derekstrub Sudbury, Ontario.
@@derekstrub also, what motor you running?
@@jamieparent7863 I am running a 300 Merc and 70” - 112lb Terrova.
Thanks for sharing your many years of drop shot experience. I’m guessing a palomar knot to hook but what kind of knots do you use for the swivel? Would love to know what your hair jig setup is as well. Maybe next video. Thanks again Derek
Thanks Mike! I am a long time Pitzen Knot guy actually. I use it for Fluro and braid as well as heavy salt water applications. Easy and strong knot. I will try and put up a hair jig vid soon.
One of the best drop shot videos I have watched on UA-cam. The tip on using a color for a specific line weight on your boat is a GREAT idea. Can't tell you how many times I have guessed wrong about what lb test I had on a given reel. Subscribed to this channel and looking forward to future content.
Thanks Nick! If you have any ideas for vids let me know.
@@derekstrub It is clear that you have a ton of knowledge and experience chasing smallmouth. I would love to hear how you target and catch them in the summer months and in the fall, given that those are the time periods we are in or headed towards. Which techniques do you focus on, which areas in a given body of water do you concentrate your efforts in and anything you have learned on how to find them. Other topics would be gear and lure reviews for the stuff you have the ultimate confidence in when it comes to catching smallmouth. I know smallies are a narrow topic that not everyone watching your channel may flock to, but those are my suggestions on content that I would like to see. PS, really like the boat you are fishing from. That thing looks like a beast.
How far up the French river could I make it on a sea doo. From Georgian bay?
Not far if you don’t know how to miss the rocks Ryan. Guy I was with guided there for decades. If you make the two sets of rapids you can go a long way.
Looks like a pretty good riding boat there!!! Well done
Excellent tips appreciate it!
Thanks!
Just subbed to the perch king! 😂... love your giant vcr set up. Let’s go!!!
Ok wild man! Let’s share a boat soon buddy.
Definitely 2 things I like is the platform at back of the boat and that washing system...
Nice reels 😎
wow nice Boat....Oh Canada....
Thanks Paul! Campion RAGE R22.
Hey Derek, Thanks for the video. So you must have yours by now. What are you thinking after having fished in it for a while. Also, what motor did you put on it and what kind of speed are you seeing?
Sorry Ray, missed this. I put over 1000 miles on my rig last summer and loved it! Have a new one ready to pick up next week.
Great video Guys.
Thanks Jason!
Do you own a Camino Rage and if so let’s see more of it!
Hey Blake, there are 10 ish Rage videos on my channel. Is there something specific you would like to see?
That looks like a lot of fun using the pontoon to get around the river. Those steelhead are bigger than the average Ontario steelhead, and so nice looking with the red stripe on the side.Looked like an awesome time out there, Derek. Thanks for sharing some of the memories with us. Adrian
Hey Adrian, they are a special fish for sure! wait till you see the full shot of the last fish in the clip, giant. Will take a while to get all the footage together but I hope to get it up soon. Cheers
how were you running your trim tabs when you were making this video? how fast are you going?
Hey Alex, no tabs on that rig. Have them coming on the new rig. Curious to see how much of a difference they make. Speed was dependant on which part of the video was seen. At times I was over 30 mph in big waves. Boat like this shine when running in a following wave where bass boats swamp. Thanks
Nice fish!
Nice fish landing and handling technique.
That was a pretty steelhead, Derek. Nice catch.
Thank you sir! Fun day.
nice one :)
Good afternoon. That actually was great information. I have one question what mount is you have you Helix mounted to? I am in the market of for a new mount. thanks
GeigerTec, nothing built better. Heavy duty for big water.
@@derekstrub hey thanks
You're such a goofball, I'm surprised Campeon hasn't asked for their boat back. Nice fish!
Bahaha, in my defense I was focused on doing that video. Great fun!
Great stuff D!
Thanks Dave! Made good use of a slow tourney year.
