Hayden Peak, Hualapia, Arizona
Hayden peak is located in Hualapai, Arizona, near Kingman. There is a fee to hike this trail, since it is located inside of a county park. Most of the year the weather is reasonable too hike. There are a few weeks in the summer were it is to hot. Also a few weeks in the winter with to much snow.
This trail took me 7.6 miles round trip. There is a few different ways to hike this. Mileage may vary.
This is not my go to trail when hiking up in the Hualapias.
My trail rating is a 3, but don't choose this trail if you havent done the others trails first.
Dinosaur Rock is my favorite.
Trail Rating Guide:
1- Don't do
2- Maybe a nice walk but can skip
3- Worth doing once
4- Will do again, good trail
5- Must do, put on bucket list

Veit Spring Loop is located near Snow Bowl, Flagstaff, Arizona. There is a small parking lot. Maybe will fit 8 cars. It was completly full when I got there. Got creative to park. This trail is mostly shaded and easy terrain. Good for beginner hikers. According to all trails the loop is 1.6 miles long. I recorded 2.7 miles, but we did go the wrong way, and we hiked around exploring for a little ...

Nojoqui Falls, California. Closed? Still hikeable.

Nojoqui Falls, located in Santa Barbara County. This is a short hike to the falls. The fall is almost 100ft tall. On Alltrails, it says the trail is permanently closed. I read some reviews that stated to just walk around the posted signs. When we got there, the parking lot was almost full, and people were ignoring the signs. The reason the trail was closed was because a tree fell on the path. I...

It would really make things much easier for you if you were on the right trail to the springs. In the summer you cross the river at camp then the trail has you cross 2 more times. This is the shortest and easiest way to get there. Winter time, you follow a trail that leads you to the backside of the power plant. There you will find a dirt road that you follow until it is lowest to the river bottom and you can see an obvious trail leading off to the left. This takes you to a crossing knee to waist deep. Then you follow alongside the river downstream until you get to the tubs. The way you took is the way people who don't know how to get there go. There are so many people who don't know where they are going that they've actually beaten down a faux trail.

@@saracondit6031 to be honest with you, my first trip there was in 1998. My buddy that I went with had only been there 1 other time. Some friends of ours were already there so when we arrived we came to an empty camp. My buddy and I decided to head to the springs even though it was already dark. We followed the north bank of the river like you did bushwhacking our way through the dark. After a while thinking we were going to die in this river bottom, cut up and bruised, we came to a clearing to find a naked man looking at us as if we were the crazy ones. I was absolutely speechless seeing this so my buddy asked which direction the hot springs were. The naked man pointed across the river saying cross here and follow the trail. So we did and found the tubs. On our way back I grew angry at my buddy when I learned there was such a mellow trail to follow back to camp.

I live in Crystal Beach (aka Castle Rock), got my kayak in around 1991, it was the first kayak here, had to have it shipped in from a kayak company in North Carolina. My daughter and a couple of her friends pretty much grew up on my kayak. We were the first to go through the caves, so nice and cool in there we'd stop and eat our lunch, just have to get past those big brown spiders on the cave walls on the narrow ends. Each year there was something different living in there - great horned owls, barn owls, bat colonies, crows, and eventually pigeons took it over. The when we first went down river into the 'little canyon' there was always a pair of great horned owls in there, depending on the time of year they'd have a pair of owl chicks in there. I have some great photos of them. We named it Hootie Holler. Those owls eventually moved up river to holes in the cliffs above one of the caves. Just some tidbits for you from the past.

Hiked what we called “Dog Slide Canyon” back in the mid 60’s before they paved Route 95 from Havasu City to Parker Dam. Had to push our long haired doxy down the rocks and catch him at the bottom. This was well before the Bridge, which I watched them build. Watched an episode of Route 66 filmed at Site Six recently. Remembered hanging out with the outboard motor testing technicians at the shops by the launch ramp. Great times.
