NASA-Rhodhiss Moon Flag
Many of the United States flags that were placed on the Moon durin ghte Apollo landings were woven in the small town of Rhodhiss, NC. The factory is closed now yet the history and the memories of the historic events are still on the mind of the people who worked at the factory when it was weaving and sewing the fabrics of the future and past. Jeff Smith tells the story with producer/photographer Greg Winters.

It’s interesting that they keep referring to the North Carolina as a ship…..submarines either attack subs or boomers are always referred to as boats.

I cant imagine the weight these men carried after the fact. However, as destructive as both bombs were, less lives were lost from both sides in comparison to the estimations made to the alternative of the Allies invading Tokyo.

My Grandma knew this man. She never mentioned him, until she was in the hospital after falling. She told us a story while gazing at the ceiling, that he flew her around in his plane while telling her of the day he dropped the bomb. It was almost like she was there again, the look on her face and the smile was so warming. I wished I would have asked her a few questions, but I didn't. She passed away not to long after that.

@@brandygriffiss I've noticed that Americans really justify the most horrific warcrimes in the history of mankind just by simply stating „They just did their job.“ I live in Germany and with your logic, no guard in any of the concentration camps could be held accountable, because they simply did what they were told to do by putting innocent people in gas chambers. The terrorists of 9/11 also did as they were told. I can go on and on if you really want me to. Stop lying to yourself and acknowledge that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were just testing grounds with free test subjects for Trumans new toys.

Very fitting to have the USS North Carolina named sub when the area off the coast is called the Graveyard of the Atlantic. #s very 2000-5000 sunk ships and the USS North Carolina battleship “Showboat” is a beautiful sight. My grandfather lived close to Wilmington at the coast and he was a ww2 vet. He first took me to the battleship in the early 80s. And I’ve been going since

All these Vietnam videos are basically BS. These veterans ( minus draftees) willingly chose to go to an unwinnable, illegal war. If they say otherwise they are promoting a falsehood. A lot of these people push the image that they could or did win the war, but the "politicians" and the "people back home" lost it. Vietnam was a national American disgrace, tragedy and defeat...and they share in the responsibility of it. The politicians and American people saw that the war was not being won, or was unwinnable. The US never really had the "hearts and minds" of the South Vietnamese people...who they supposedly were fighting for. They don't talk much about the war crimes they committed against the Vietnamese....OR even against their own personnel. Lastly, whether these guys won or lost...the Vietnam war had absolutely NO effect on American freedom, security, safety or way of life. They did NOT sacrifice anything for my...or your freedom. These veterans present themselves as victims and wrongly treated. They are big boys and went to a country to kill or be killed. They shared in the failure. Now they want to be recognized for their "sacrifice" through videos, Honor Flights, endless trips to the Wall in DC or to Vietnam itself. They never grew up and really moved on. They have made themselves an embarrassment to themselves and my generation.

I always say the hardest part of serving was coming home. Everyone looked at us like there was something wrong with us. I came from a small rural area and the government pretty much cleaned out our little area, so coming home was okay in our little community, however once you got out of our little community, we were looked on by most people as mentally disturbed.

Facts presented that are amazing. A non intrusive periscope that allows for the bridge to be located in a larger roomier combat center bridge. Vertically launched missiles are external to the pressurized hull where the crew resides. The Commanding officer holds the rank of captain which has more experience to in command.
