Very talented guy who DOES rant too much and Richard E Grant has him to a tee and I love him for telling the truth and not being Bruce's sychophant. You ARE a Champagne Socialist Bruce and this makes you a hypocrite . Sorry but the reality is like most of these Fabians you want nice things for yourself but not for us Plebs👌🏿

In his Esquire Withnail and I watchalong commentary he compared the rise of Hitler with Brexit implying the nation had lost it's mind. Bruce did a cockney accent " WE WON DA WAAWW" and conflated wanting to leave the tin pot wretch of the EU to English people being delusional about Britain's power. One got the sense of the sneering middle class liberal over the common man essentially.

Vintage sports car. A large, beautiful, old, converted farmhouse in the countryside with a grand piano, and two or three horses in the stables looked after by the wife and daughters. He definitely hit the right spot in his life! Feels like contentment! And why not, eh?! 🤔 ✌🏼😉👌🏼

hes not very politically astute if he thinks Labour is good, unemployment has been higher after every Labour government ever,,,and they are the only party to be found guilty of racism,,,and they bankrupted the country twice

Love her . In the beginning she tells you who and how she deals with life , her Sheila is mocking humor as if to say “ it doesn’t matter “ but it matters GRets greatly. When the interviewer remarks about his favorite Bacall film about her playing a woman where love is not just the only main goal in life Bacall asls “ what is that “ she reveals tha love , the love she had for Bogie - was her time in the sun in this life but she won’t say it because the absurdity of losing the love of her life way too soon cuts so deep it hurts as much presently as it did when it happened . She’s not about to be the target of receiving pity and best way to prevent that is to build a wall of humor of indifference . Wishes a study of contradictions in which her defense system is endearing and I found myself deeply moved by her heart , the vey one that she makes light of . She loves men and accepts them for who they were 100 recent . When totally relaxed and answering questions , she gives her true honest reaction ( Marlene Dietrich) . No wonder she got along with strong women in Hepburn Wayne , bogart, ( who she says cried at all his weddings ) - too sentimental for her .

Great interview, feels like sitting in on a conversation between two people. She's frank and funny and she and the interviewer seem to enjoy each other's company.

"I was brought up like vomit". Damn, Mr Robinson can write a page with a phrase when he wants, such a joy to listen to. I get the sense of an inner torment when he speaks... a burbling boiling rage just beneath the skin, that makes me want to throw a packet of Cheese & Onion crisps at him and then share a couple of beers under the dappled shade of a weeping willow of an English country pub garden somewhere. I cannot imagine more stimulating worthwhile company. Any time Bruce... the drinks are on me.

To watch Robinson actually write, to see him BECOMING the characters he creates, is breathtaking... (It's interesting that he USES alcohol to 'unclip' his rational mind as he does that, though he writes most rationally...) The man is a fucking genius and a poet. xx SF

I started reading Penman on a coach journey to an important meeting sixteen years ago, inevitably bailing out of said meeting and shut myself away to finish it and re - read it many times in the hotel room then joining the local library purely so that I could borrow Withnail on DVD. I really hope that Penman makes it to the screen because his story would be so important to adolescents today and what happened in some of his most crucial formative years, if I had the money I would fund it. I hope that Bruce is still well and creating.
