I worked in Dewhurst the Butchers in Nun Street. Just outside. From 1970 until 1973 as a Saturday boy. Sid Nichol was the manager. ( Fantastic Man ) Weekend it was packed. Even before Corvid 19 it's like a ghost town. Sad to see it like that. Best years of my life spent there.

What a lovely story Joan. I spent many happy boyhood hours trainspotting at Heaton station in the early 60s. Happy days indeed.

i loved the grainger market . it was a real market . great place . they may have cleaned it up and made it a lot more posh but its killed the atmosphere. so sad .
