Hi, thank you very much for taking time to stop by my channel.
Living not too far from the Lake District National Park I have the wonderful opportunity to take the short drive to enjoy everything this beautiful area of the country has to offer.
I use my Garmin watch together with the Relive application to track my walks around the stunning lakes, tarns, mountains, hills and valleys of the area. As I travel I take lovely photos and include them in my videos.
I hope you enjoy them enough to give them a like, and maybe even a comment. I would also be thrilled if you subscribed to the channel.
Thank you so much in advance.

The Lake District | Brandreth Wild Camp Pt 2 with @Walkingwildcampinguk
Hi Everyone
Welcome back to the channel and welcome back to the second part of mine and @Walkingwildcampinguk 's camp on Brandreth in the Lake District's Western fells.
After a pretty windy night in the tents we woke around 6am to much calmer conditions and a relatively chilly but fine morning. There was plenty of cloud around but this made for some spectacular views.
After a couple of brews, we broke camp, leaving no trace as always we headed off for the second Wainwright of our adventure and the first one of the morning. It's only a short walk from Brandreth to the summit of Grey Knotts.
The descent from Grey Knotts follows the fence line for a while, enough to skirt round the back of Raven Crag on to the flatter ground heading back in to Gillercomb.
We headed back to the top of Sourmilk Gill, but just to mix things up a bit and makes things a little easier on the descent we took the path to the left rather than go on the same path we came up on the previous evening.
If you are interested in doing this route, either as a camp or as a day walk then the route for the first half and this half are below on the links in OS maps

Can you post less dramatic scenery from now on please, you're showing us up! 😅 Great video mate 😊
Really good video, Dave. An original way to lead the viewer through the walk. Only just realised this is part 2 - doh!
Hi Mal, thank you for the lovely comment. Haha, yeah when I do a wild camp I have to split my videos in to two parts, it's just the way the Relive app works. This was a cracking spot for a camp, but there is only a very small area for pitches. It's a two tent pitch only they have to be right next to each other. Because it's in an area of old quarry building there is plenty of slate under the grass. All the best mate Dave

@@tubbatravels Hi Niall, it was one of those morning that just improved all the time. When I first opened the tent it was like meh…..but then the clouds started to break and we got a decent sunrise and then on the way back down it just kept getting brighter and brighter. 😀🥾⛰🏕️🌅
Who doesn't love a good cascade? I think I could cope with the initial scrambles. Keep shutting those gates Dave. There are a couple of famous ISH ones like on the cwt. This one is up there. The views from Brandreth, wow. So you camped pretty high up? Looks wonderful.
@@tubbatravels Hi Niall, yeah the scrambles weren’t too bad, they look worse on the camera than what they actually are. Haha, yeah I do love a gate without a fence, there is always something amusing about them. And you just have to go through them! 🤣 Yeah we were probably camped around the 700m mark, but we had some shelter from the side of the hill behind us. The plan was to camp on Great Gable but it was much too windy for that. But in the end we were very pleased with our spot. Thanks for taking the time to watch as always, it really does mean a lot All the best Dave 😀⛰🏕️🥾

Morning Kev. Yes mate, the over night wind had died down and it was a beautiful morning. Sunshine and moody clouds. All the best mate. 👍🏕️🏴🏴
Our favourite time of a wild Camp has to be the morning 🌄. What a morning it was! The colours catching the clouds were spectacular! All rounded off with a lovely scenic walk back down. Lucky sod 😂🤩👌 Nice one Dave, All the best, Pete and Shell
Yeah definitely, I’m a morning person too so I always enjoy opening the door of the tent and it was a lovely morning too and it just got better and better and really warm when the sun got out. The view up to the right and Raven Crag and ahead in to Gillercomb was stunning. We chose the path down the left hand side of Sourmilk Gill to come down and it was much easier than the one we went up the night before, especially with the heavy packs on. All the best guys and have a great week. Dave 😃🏕️🥾⛰
Hi Dave, Brilliant, off on another wild Camp 🏕👏. Sour milk ghyll looked very impressive! It looked a bit nippy up there at camp, but a cuppa and a tea cake will soon sort that out 😋🫖🍰. Gorgeous views from your pitch down to Buttermere 🤗⛰️. Not too shabby! Looks like a great catch up with your pal. Thanks for taking us along, All the best, Pete and Shell 😊👊👍
Hi Pete, Hi Shell, This was a cracking adventure. The path up by Sourmilk Gill is very steep with a couple hills of scrambly sections but was great fun with some amazing views. The plan was originally to camp on Great Gable but it was far too windy so we made the decision to just head to Brandreth and camp low behind some rocks for a bit of shelter. In the end it worked out brilliantly because as you say the views down Buttermere and Ennerdale were epic. The brew and tunnocks tea cake went down a treat. Fortunately the wind did drop and I was able to get some decent sleep. All the best guys and thanks as always for supporting my channel. 😃👍⛰🥾🏕️
Hi Dave, We caught up with your adventures on the telly at the weekend 🤩👊. Blimey, you must live on weather apps recently😂. Every video has been clear skies and beautiful summits! This one looked like another belter ⛰️🤗. Steep climbs, but always worth it for those views! Lovely stuff, and another round for our list too 👍 Cheers Pete and Shell 😊👊👍
Hi Guys, haha, yes I have been deliberately selecting days when the forecast has been good, and fair play they actually have been getting it correct. I’d done Grasmoor before it was blowing a hoolie, lashing it down with rain and I saw naff all so it was nice to get the full 360 from the summit. The last time I walked down the valley of Gasgale Gill, which I could highly recommend but it was nice to be able to look down in to it. It seems your list of routes is getting longer and longer. 🤣🤣 All the best guys and as always, thank you so much for taking time to watch. Cheers 😃🏕️⛰🥾

Well done, Dave, looked like you had another great wild camp. Some lovely sunrise photos and views . I don't think the OS maps has a path marked for the way you came down but it looked like for most part it was very good. Hope you slept well!! Regards, Ashley
@@ashleyjarnold Hi Ashley, I slept very well once the wind calmed down around 1am…..slept right through until 6am. There’s a path down the fence of Grey Knotts, but then we branched off that once we skirted round Raven Crag on to the flatter ground. Once you get to the large boulders by the wall under Raven Crag there’s a path on the ground. That goes for our route down the left hand side of Sourmilk Gill. Hi Dave, Well, you certainly decided to make the most of that gorgeous weather with another epic route! We were tired just watching😂. Days like this in the lakes just don't get any better, and you were out long enough to see the light change in the late afternoon sun over the fells, spectacular! Views from the tops were something else👌. Need to add this one to our list. Great stuff. Hope you have a great weekend, Shell and Pete0😊👊👍
Hi guys. As always thank you so much for taking time to watch. This was a long old day as you say, but I loved it. Hardly saw a sole until the last part along side Haweswater when I had all the Coast to Coastes coming the other way. I can definitely recommend this route although the drop down from Low Kop was hard. According to the OS map there is a traverse path. Hi Steven, hope you’re enjoying Ullapool and bagging all those Munro’s. How many is that you are on now? Gosh. mountains can be so dangerous, we saw the rescue helicopter the day we did the 7 sevens and heard later a guy fell and broke both legs. I think i'm more risk adverse the older I get or maybe its just Andrea in my ear, though funnily enough, she loves heights and will go places I won't go!! Regards, Ashley
Hello Dave. Really enjoyed that mate. It makes more sense to me now having just gone up that way. Funny gate with no fence😂 Perhaps it's just my eyes. Nice seeing you point out the two mountains the other side I did with Butchy recently. You had great views all the way there. Your pitch was amazing though looking out over Buttermere👌 Awesome!
@@Jamie-H5 Morning Jamie, thank you mate. Yeah it’s an area to do a few mountains but a very busy one. If you want a feee road spot then you have to be there very early or arrive mid afternoon like we did. Haha, no mate, there’s definitely no fence, that has long since gone, but the gate is a novelty. I remembered it from last time I was up there. It’s always nice to look at mountains you have been on from another angle. That walk from Glaramara to Allen Crags, you wouldn’t believe the crags and gully’s that are underneath you. It was a great pitch mate, being able to look up Ennerdale and Buttermere and slightly down Honister was amazing. All the best mate. 😀🥾⛰🏕️🏴🏴
Beautiful cascades along the way to the falls😁 The scrambles looked like fun😀 Was there even a fence connecting to that gate you went through 5:00? Some really nice views out there😊 Great camping spot!
Hi Age, yeah the scrambles are always good fun, although with a heavy overnight pack on they are a little tougher. Haha no, there’s no fence. There are posts all the way along the hill but no fence. Don’t think it’s been there for a long old time. But, if there’s a gate you must use it, and always close it behind you. 🤣 All the best mate. 😃🏕️⛰🥾🇨🇦🏴
@@DAoutdoors yes, always leave the gate as you saw it😁
Looks like a decent adventure Dave! And a cracking place to pitch. Is that a Helm? I’ve got the Helm 2 and I love it.
Hi mate. It certainly is a Helm. It’s the Helm 1. They are superb tents aren’t they. So easy to pitch. I was thinking of getting the two for the extra space but then it’s more weight so I thought I’ll stick with the one but you never know I might change my mind. Haha Thanks for watching mate, take care.
Nice one Dave, looks like an awesome walk up and camp. 🏕️. Sourmilk Gill is a real feature. I was in Borrowdale valley at the weekend. Wainwright’s favourite square mile of Lakeland. Enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️
Hi Tony. It was mate. My first venture in to Gillercomb and it’s stunning. The plan was to camp on Great Gable but the wind was far too strong. But we were well pleased with our view from Brandreth. I’ve still a couple to do in Borrowdale, Eagle Crag and Sergeants Crag still need ticking off. Hope you had a nice walk, I’ll look forward to the video. All the best mate. 😃🥾🏕️⛰
That Whin Ben looks like a hill in Glenshee. Another fine day Dave. Mr Lake District you are eh. 😉
Ey up Kevlar. Yes mate, but be been picking my days very strategically lately. 🤣🤣
I do like the music on this one brother 👍 cracker of a walk n wild camp ⛺️
I believe that I've said it before, but I find those rock walls so fascinating...nothing like that here. Those views really take one's breathe away...amazing!! Oh I bet it does get a tad chilly up there! Can imagine it was a great time though!
They are Bruce and there is no mortar involved. The art of stonewalling has unfortunately started to decline, there aren’t many left to repair them if needed. It can get very cold, although it wasn’t the other night. It was a tad windy though. 🤣 Thank you for taking time to watch as always mate. 😃⛰🏕️🥾🇨🇦🏴
smashing Dave. cracking pitch pal
Hi Donny, it was mate. The wind really picked up for a few hours but by the early hours it had calmed down and was a lovely morning. Thanks for watching mate. 👍🏴🏴
Looks good Dave😀👌🫡⛰️🏴🏴🥾👋
@@Jamie-H5 Hi mate. It was a belter, out tonight at 5pm. 😃🥾🏕️⛰🏴🏴
@@DAoutdoors I'll be waiting 😀👍
