Casual Night Out Carry (Not EDC)
Here's a video on what I would be carrying on a casual night out with friends or at a gathering. The intent here is having more than my every day carry, but less than if I was hired for the sole purpose of performing. Should the opportunity present itself, I am still prepared to perform some of my favorite magic.

    My daughter works for a global construction company. She told me that none of her coworkers wear luxury goods. They seem to focus on the kislux high-quality small boutique companies that make goods cheaper than the iconic luxury brands. There are lots of options. If you don't want to pay those high prices, there are a lot of great bags for just a few hundred dollars, not thousands.

    It's great to see the JOL wallet. Like you and many others, I have dozens of wallets, but I always return to my JOL small plus as my EDC. If I am performing a close-up gig and need to quickly reload a bonsalope, then my wallet is either the HOW or Harry Robsons, worker dream (I prefer the zip); it's the instant reset that makes these two wallets, in my opinion, the best workers' wallets. My EDC magic is Quiver with a CSB coin set, the professor's nightmare (great for children and adults). Add a bit of fibre optics) and a deck of cards, and that it.

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 12 днів тому

      Awesome!! Thanks for sharing! That all sounds great :) Yeah I don’t know how many wallets I have anymore but a good percentage of them do card to wallet, and none of them even come close in comparison to the JOL for me.

    Hi Chris. What’s your preferred peek from the stack of business cards?

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 12 днів тому

      Hey Graham! My favorite would be the Biz Peek by Phill Smith. He teaches it in his release “Humint” and also on his penguin live lecture. Other notable mentions are Peter Turners double lift method and a glide method that is used in Mana by Lewis LeVal. I think it’s okay that I say that.. I’m not exposing much there as far as the routines goes because realistically you can do whatever peek you like when it comes to a routine where you need to secretly obtain information. But these two methods allow you to place a dummy billet that they thing is theirs on the table or put it away somewhere while you still have the card they have written on in front of you. I feel like the handling and mechanics in the biz peek are the most convincing though because there is no dummy billet in play.

    • @jefftravilla
      @jefftravilla 3 дні тому

      The best I’ve come across for impromptu and gimmick-less is called Underlooked by Arthur. I don’t do the exact handling, but the concept is ridiculously simple yet massively deceptive. It fooled my closest magician friend, and he is never fooled by anything ever. However, you have to put the card back into the stack. Some might think that’s a weird thing to justify. I think it’s fine. “Hide it in here. Do you have room in your pocket? Put the whole stack in there.” In that short sentence, the peek is done.

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 3 дні тому

      @jefftravilla yeah you have to do the same with the Biz Peek. I’ll have to relook at underlooked. I believe I purchased it at some point.

    Hi Chris, I appreciate carrying a few small items but as Jeff McBride says "Imagine your were a 'Real' magician, you would be able to do magic with anything." Tony Slydini used to make everyday items 'Come Alive' with his magic. We must not forget the wonder of some of the oldest effects with the simplest of items. Magi tend to have drawers full of old stuff which is still good even today. Regards to everyone, Paul (U.K.)

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 16 днів тому

      Yeah i can appreciate and respect that. I do things with borrowed and everyday objects as well. But personally if someone asked me to do something, I’d prefer to do something great that they will remember rather than something mediocre they will forget by the next day. That’s not always the case.. but being somewhat prepared isn’t a bad thing. Especially if you make an income doing this sort of thing. When I show someone something, that’s often an opportunity for hire and I want to make it count.

  • @ColinUnderwood
    @ColinUnderwood 17 днів тому

    Chris! Thank you for your review! Appreciate it. I'm glad you like it. I use my own lock as well. I need the weight of the lock so that the spectator can hear something in the glass after the burning. Theres great moment there because they think the ring is burnt. Iv used this in kids show with signed coin. You can use a small envelope n add contact adhesive to seal it. The envelope as both as impossible object in box and a " tube" . Envelope seals as u do the business. Iv also used the music box as a back up gag. You pretend music isnt playing, bring out box. Gets a laugh. The person turns handle for awhile n u stop her. U then ask for another piece of music later on, repeating the need to use Box. If you ask for different music every time and spectator plays same song, u get another laugh. To speed up the reveal, I simply ask the spectator if that's her or his ring in the bag. After she verifies it, I let the person keep bag with the ring in it. " Gift wrapped." This bit of business allows for less music to be played n makes more of a feature. The music isnt sesigned to be loud, its genuine music mechanism. As u mention a mic can be used. I'm glad u like it n your audiences have too. Regards Colin Underwood

      Some people will harp on you for that, but not me!! I’ve always been of the thought that I’d rather have more than I need than not enough. If I expect to be performing I’ll carry way more. But my everyday carry if I don’t plan on really doing anything, or I’m not going anywhere that I’d likely have the opportunity to do some stuff I’d rather streamlined now. There’s people who will argue that you shouldn’t carry anything. You should borrow everything or use everyday objects.. but I disagree. Do what makes you happy! My next video later this week is titled “casual night out carry” and that’s what I’ll take on me if Im expecting to have an opportunity to do some magic. I also filmed a number of other videos today that go over my strolling material for all ages/kids, adults, and strictly mentalism.

      Thanks so much!! Yes absolutely still using cosmos. I carry it with me in my travel bag so I always have it, but I don’t carry it on my person daily wherever I go since it takes up a pocket and if I don’t use it that day it’s just extra baggage hahaha.

      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 17 днів тому

      That’s fair, I use next of wallets all the time when I’m working but I’m not going to carry those around with me in my pocket everyday. This was just an every day carry video.

    how do you make a ring appear in the spectators pocket?

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 17 днів тому

      I put it there, haha. It all depends on my interaction with the participant and what they are wearing. With misdirection it can be pretty easy to ditch an object in a participants pocket or purse. But if the person is really focused on watching my hands or trying to catch me then I won’t even attempt planting an object on them. I’ll just go to the wallet.

      @jonahberg9280 you can fold a business card.. besides, I don’t care for center tears, or peeks like acidus novus. If I’m using billets to peek I’ll use a full billet peek by preference.

    can the lock open using any 4 digits or does it HAVE TO be a year?? I am looking for something where any 4 numbers can be used to open a lock..

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 17 днів тому

      It doesn’t have to be a year. It can be set to any number. You will need to force one number, but you have the choice of whatever number you want 0-9, and the rest they have a completely free choice. That’s why most people typically use a date. With a date, you really aren’t having to force a number and it really is a completely free and fair choice. I hope that makes sense. Any more and I would be exposing too much.

    The design resembles Looches Blink 2, but I'm guessing it works similarly to Nexus or Viper. I have Blink 2, but I'm not keen on the peek.

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic

      Very similar minus a locking system, which I prefer. I don’t use the Shelby because I don’t like the “locking” aspect. But that’s just me.

    the problem with this is its obvious when your holding the wallet like that can cause suspicion its workable but shady imo

    • @ChrisEdwardsMagic
      @ChrisEdwardsMagic 23 дні тому

      Oh there are so many handlings with this wallet, you don’t have to hold it any specific way at all. You can life it up off the table. Turn it over. Put it away. So many natural actions and movements to get your peek.

  • @jonahberg9280
    @jonahberg9280 23 дні тому

    the viper wallet is the only peek wallet id ever use stealth assasin is good but viper wallet is simply better peeking a folded billet inside a closed wallet just seems impossible plus it has the suc feature like the assasin which you cn do a myriad of things with
