I guess it depends on the condition and whether it’s a Leyland 804 or a Marshall 804. The Leyland 804 there was not a lot of them produced before they were rebranded to Marshall. If yours is a Leyalnd or a Marshall it will be worth restoring. I paid £4,550.00 + vat for a very poor condition Leyland. I have seen none restored but working 804’s sell for over £9,000 + vat These old tractors are collectors tractor now so if you got one it would be worth restoring or simply dry store the tractor for when you ready to sell.

@@kieranjones2021 You have a tractor worth keeping - I have replaced pipes, cables, cab, brakes slave and master cylinders, crown and pinion, hydrulic arm internal ram, the list goes on spent over 9,000 in parts (old stock new) classic tractor mag did a write up on the old girl. If you don’t need to sell them hold on it.

@@simongleed I've got the Leylands with q cab on my channel. You can winge about cab but position of the gear levers are excellent. Got a case also and that's 13years newer and still not as good on the gearbox.

770 is less horse power than that of the 780 Engine displacement (cm3) 770 = 2400 780 = 2695

Thank you Armourgeddon :) We spent many hours restoring this old Vickers Chieftain tank and very happy with the end result. We still have the engine bay to do although its in excellent condition for the year.

I also have great memories which caused me to purchase this gorgeous old girl and spend many many thousands of pounds restoring her. Lovely sounding engine and the turbo whistling happy away :) yes quite a tractor in their time. 👍

@@rabmurphy7089 Not a problem, anytime :) Are you talking about the hydrulic lift arms? I didn't replace anything to do with the lift arm hydrulics. Try Charnleys and Son this company seems have alot of Marshall and Leyland aparts. www.charnleys.com/parts

I didnt know that re Chieftain MK11 and Challenger MK1 at Aldershot! when i'm in the area again i'll drop in and take a look but what a shame, even retired tanks need care and attention if they are going to stand the test of time. Applougies for not replying back to your privous email over the weekend. I have fond memories of helping my uncle work on his Foden 290L artic lorries back in the early eighties, greasing, fueling and cleaning them over a weekend and the highlight of the day was to drive them around the yard to hook up to a trailer loaded with british steel it was great fun - Happy Days.

@@simongleed don’t be silly! I play the trumpet for a living, takes me weeks sometimes to get back. the poor old chally one has the rear suspension sagging, and they for some reason removed all the vision blocks in both, so I hate to think about the insides 😬

@@mrtankalotrctankschannel 🤣👍 please don’t tell me they are left outside! If that’s the case the inside of the turret will be in poor condition! I feel a purchase coming on 🤣🤣 Chieftain Hatch put out a walk round video of a challenger 1 recently. This guy explains the IFCS, laser ranging and targeting, it’s the same system that’s in my Chieftain.

@@simongleed yep outside, really heart breaking, the prototype chally has its chobham armour packs removed (or never fitted, you tap it and it’s hollow)and no togs, very early tank. it’s amazing the tech they had in the 80.

That’s saddens me to think these old British Vickers tanks are left outside to deteriorate as time passes by. All the more to go and visit the Museum this summer.

To treat the rust on your Leyland try a product called Jenolite Rust Converter, its in a spray tin and when in contact with rust the Jenolite has a chemical reaction and seals the rust - excellent product you can purchase it from amazone. Agree crap music. I will find some time to remove the music - re the engine correct on earlier L60 engines but the L60 engine came reliable on the 13a red top and 14a red top painted lime green. This tank fitted with 13a and I have reconditioned 14a. The engine howls out and most amazing sounding engine .

Evening I have removed the crappy music - enjoy the howling L60 :)

@@simongleed thankyou very much, especially interested if the gunsight symbology / aided laying function still works on the IFCS.

It certainly did take a some time to do but it was enjoyable. We have the engine area to clean and repaint so engine, transmission and GUE out. Will post some videos once we make a start. Thanks for your comment - much appreciated.
