Longevity Stick Art with Master Dau
(This video's video's audio is mainly in English. English subtitles are displayed for the Vietnamese spoken at the beginning (first 5 minutes) and at the very end of the video (last 2 minutes).
The goal of Longevity Stick Art (LSA) is a good quality of life over a long lifetime. This is gained by the daily practice of the art form. This constant practice gradually builds for maintaining health and preventing diseases, especially those affecting seniors.
This instructional video presents two aspects of Longevity Stick Art:
1) The twelve (12) movements of Longevity Stick exercise with harmonious breathing for flexibility and strength; and
2) Self massage-reflex pressure for vitality adjustment.
The latter technique is the subtle approach to prepare or to restore the body and muscles thus enhancing the benefits of longevity stick exercise. Both parts are based on an insightful fusion of Eastern and Western methodologies.
For additional information about locations and schedules where you can attend an in-person practice session: www.longevitystick.org/
When you are looking for a stick to practice LSA, you have several choices depending on your needs. A one-inch wooden dowel is strong and less expensive than a painter's extension pole which can be adjusted. The length of the stick should be 2-3 inches longer than your height. Be sure to add rubber stoppers at each end so they won't slip on the floor.

Haha, so cool to see this pop up in my feed! I've been trying to incorporate using a staff into my personal yoga routine and it's crazy how much you can do with one. I learned myself how the old monks would use them as a tool for strengthening the body, not just as a walking aid or self-defense weapon like how they're portrayed in western media/games.

Healthy and beautiful! Thanks, indeed ♥ this is sooo good and practice whenever and wherever. I'm an aikidoka and in Aikido we use stick (called "jo") and it's soooo beautiful. I would like to thanks Master Dau for sharing with us (in those days it's so hot in Italy and I sincerely don't move a lot and stay indoor quite most of the time, plus it's a crucial moment since my 85 y.o. mom is in hospital, struggling after a surgery, so exercising is very good for me in this, let's say, peculiar period. It's a healthy and beautiful practice (I'm 52 and practice martial arts since 20 years now, starting with karate and discovering the "chi" o "ki" and its benefit when you practice breathing. And always improving practicing). I think we can create a better world starting from being humble and flow down fear and discomfort. P.S.: Anybody know how old is Master Dau? He could be from 60 to 80, I could not say. Bless him!

I’d usually agree, tho there’s virtually no selling going on here- and ANY movement benefits seniors. It’s clearly stated that “the stick just keeps you honest in your movements”. No one’s getting a workout here, but flexibility, yes. It’s stupefying how many US men over 60 cannot raise one or another arm over their heads -bc either bone spurs, pinched nerves, and/or lack of flex due to lack of range of motion! Classes at senior centers usually mostly benefit the Center; instructors pretty much *earn what they work-for, and no one’s getting rich on things like this because of lack of *SCALE. If they were selling an ideology on socials, maybe; DVDs, some; sticks, less so. UA-cam, HA! Take what works and leave the rest……

Everytime I see comments like this, it makes me realise how much people's comments say more about them than the subject they are opining on. This is an eastern school of calisthenics, which has been practiced in Western culture since at least the Ancient Greeks. Such exercises would have been excellent warmup exercises for anyone using pole arms such as staffs, spears, and pikes. The Infantry of the US and other large armies include calisthenic exercises with the rifle as warm up exercises to this day. And Master Lau was a South Vietnamese soldier. Culturally, in the East, communal exercise is still commonplace, at the beginning of the working day in factories, and may help prevent repetive strain injuries that can occur in assembly line work. This school uses simple equipment and a structured regimen to develop flexibility and muscle tone in the large muscle groups, using the body's own body weight. If you actually knew any Anatomy, you could follow the muscle groups being worked on. And if you actually knew about calisthenic exercise, you would realise that is the most fundamental form of exercise, because it forms the foundation of every other form of exercise. You can build on it, by increasing repetitions, adding weights (increase the weight of the pole, add weights on the pole itself or on the limbs), or by providing resistance (attaching or threading resistance bands to the pole). Weights and resistance builds strength. Even in its basic form, this regimen also promotes a meditative state, because of the deliberately slow speed, and focus on breathing and feedback from your body as you exercise. Plus, the reflexive massage techniques promote relaxation, and cool down after exercise. Exercise doesn't have to be flashy to be effective, nor do you need expensive equipment. Indeed, time and space to exercise, and some basic knowledge is more important. This regime is suitable for all ages to get moving, and to provide some self care. If all you did was to follow this method as provided for free in this video, you'd be better off than most people.

Thank You... "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house".(Acts 16:31) " He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him". (John 3:36) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" .(Romans 10:9) "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life". (1 John 5:23) "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death".(Revelation 21:8) John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved".(Romans 10:9)

Sorry bro, your Roman pagan church influence has changed The given Divine Name of YaHUShA The Messiah. "Truly, Truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name (and His Name is יהושע Yahusha) He will give you." (John 16:23). Your false teachers in the perverted religion of christianity has changed His Holy Set-Apart Name. He was a Hebrew man with a Hebrew Name given to Him by His Father, YaHUaH, in His Father's language. See Matt. 1:21. There was no name Jesus to them of The Messiah's day. Names have meanings. REPENT and come out of her, the Mother of Harlots. Time to return to YaH's pure language. (ZephaniYaH 3:9) "that they may all call on the name of YHWH (YaHUaH)..." The serpent and his seed even changed and hid The Divine Name of The Father. The Lord is an intentional "vain, meaningless, misuse" of His Divine Name. See Exodus 20:7. Yes, the translators have broken the 3rd Commandment written in stone by the very Hand (YUD) of YaH.

The name Jesus is a translation into the Greek language this is not some nefarious practice of the “Evil Roman Catholic Church”Like you’re alluding to. Do you think Jesus is really splitting hairs on whether you use his Hebrew name for the Greek pronunciation of it or is he more concerned with you accepting his gift of salvation? It would seem to me that would be the point in not the one you’re trying to make

@@TheSubwaysurfer What is your Greek name if you were to go to Greece? Does your given name change just because you go to another country? If your name is honored anywhere you go, WHY is the THE HOLY Name of YaHUShA Changed? This has SPIRITUAL implications whether you accept it or not. I will Proclaim His True Name! Hallu- YaH!
