Gel Coat Restoration - HOW TO
In this video I explain and show you how to restore your gel coat on your boat. You'll see the before and after. I DO NOT take any responsibility if your results aren't the same as mine or if you ruin your gel coat or burn through it. Just take your time if you're going to do it and I cannot stress enough to do a test area first on a spot you don't mind getting wrecked.
*Please disregard the spelling mistake at the end of my Video for the word 'Favor". I spelled it Favore' and must have accidentally hit the 'E' that's right next to the 'R'. I'm not a dummy I promise!

Right Hand Vs. Left Hand Reels - Which should you be using?

    Looking for some expert opinion. I don't know much about reels so apologies if I am getting basics wrong. I am trying to purchase a reel for my father in law (lives in a different country) who uses a bait caster that is mounted on the bottom rather than the top of the rod and uses the right hand for retrieving. I purchased a right hand retrieve squall ii level wind PENN model just to realize it is meant for top mounting. FIL said this won't do since he is used to a bottom mounted right hand retrieve bait caster. I have searched a lot and can't find anything that fits the bill. It seems like whenever we are talking baitcaster or conventional, we are thinking it would be top mounted. Also, confirmed that he definitely doesn't use a spin caster. can someone help? Should I get a left handed bait caster and then mounting at the bottom would mean the handle reverses and becomes right handed retrieve. Would the handle and reel still work?

    Sorry but 99 percent of left hand retrieve reposition their hand once they've cast.I palm my reel after casting ,and you can't do it without using your left hand .never lost a fish and can reel faster with my right hand .I tried the Left hand retrieve doesn't work for me.

    The only thing i can think of as to why right hand reels are used among many is that you can reel faster vs reeling left handed.i notice all these pros is bringing in the fish fast as they can.

    The knot is good, but you never tie a grappling anchor at the top!! You tie it to the bottom, then use a false knot or zip tie at the top, so if the anchor gets snagged/stuck on the bottom of the lake/river, when you pull really hard, the knot at the top will come undone (or break the zip tie), and then you’ll be able to pull the anchor up from the bottom, so the hooks don’t snag.

    Im right handed and ride skateboard goofy foot. So me using a left handed reel makes sense. Id rather have that sensitivity of the rod in my right hand and forearm. Rt hand BC feels strange to me. So now i have a rt hand Shimano Curado MGL i dont want to use.

    Pfew... I'm right handed and got me a left handed reel. Since my spinning reel is with the handle on the left side, it felt completely natural to get me a baitcasting reel with the handle on the left side too. But suddenly I have started noticing people on youtube using the oposite side reels even though they were right hand dominant people. Good... I'm calm now. :D

    In the past, only hemp or sisal fibers were used for the anchor ropes, which swelled when wet and the loose end was certainly banded/additionally secured. Now the same type of knot is made with a cheaper, but "knot-weaker" polypopylene rope, which does not swell and is no longer banded/additionally secured. In the case of frequent load changes, the double anchor bend on a polypropylene rope tends to come loose prematurely. Perhaps the sailors, who are a little too traditional, should generally part with this knot and use a double constrictor knot instead? (Hope, the translator don´t butchered everything!)

  • @Misteribel
    @Misteribel 11 місяців тому

    Good knot. Were you using polypropylene on purpose, or was that just around? I think three stranded nylon is properly more common and secure for anchor rode. Anyway, i read your description, lol, I'm sure it was just demoing. It's a good knot, though, surprisingly, not the standard anchor hitch that's taught in schools afaik.

    I think the reason the early baitcasters were mostly right-hand crank is because baitcasters were initially used by saltwater fisherman. In deep waters with big fish and long landing times, you DO want to crank with your right hand (assuming you are right handed). Thus, the right-hand crank baitcaster was born. The design just carried over as baitcasters found popularity with bass fishermen as well.

IF YOU WAS TO INDIAN ARM WRESTLER WITH SOMEONE WILL YOU WRESTLER WITH YOUR WEAK SIDE , NO YOU WILL USE YOUR RIGHT ARM BECAUSE IT YOUR STRONGEST OF THE TWO AND WHAT YOUR LEFT HAND WILL BE DOING WHAT? I feel like the only reason anyone ever originally switched sides on baitcasters compared to their spinning gear is because the first baitcasters were made right hand only for the most part. It was a forced switch, now everyone thinks its part of the technique or something 😂😂 I just don't see the benefit at all. Why would I wanna have to cast with my dominant hand, switch hands, and then work the rod with my undominant hand and reel with my dominant? its completely uncomfortable and goofy.

    Great knot, poor location. Those are designed to be tied at the flanged bottom eye. I can testify to what happens if you dont. A) this setup works great if you have a rocky bottom however, you run the risk of losing it if you cant get it unstuck. B)you will drift away because you don't have correct scope. anchor>chain>rope or anchor>rope>chain>rope config - you will end up an unlucky bugger like myself spending half the day drifting away instead of fishing lol

    This is just a common sense video and well put. I don’t for the life of me understand why manufacturers don’t offer both sides for us fisherman who are right handed. Adding another step in the process of switching hands mid cast or when the bait hits the water is plain foolish and the explanation this is just how you do it makes no sense. Thanks for good solid view point !
