Broken?! Strange noise coming from Align T-Rex 550X 6S Helicopter after 3D flight
Переглядів 207Рік тому
Having some fun trying new stuff the other day, when I noticed a weird new sound coming from the helicopter. I've since stripped it down and found nothing obvious, but replaced the main shaft, main shaft bearings, and the OWB for good measure. I don't think the OWB has been replaced since new (this helicopter was second hand to me as well) so hopefully that'll be the issue fixed next time I fly...

Gutted though, the model fail went in to fail safe and crashed. • @mikesmiscellanea

      That's a tough question to answer. It really depends on the attitude of the diver and the quality of training. I guess it's feasible that someone could dive this wreck towards the end of their first year of diving, and do it safely.

      @@mikesmiscellanea Yeah, bigger flies better. But bigger is also much scarier. The first time I saw a Logo 800 start turning those big blades, I backed up at least 5 meters. That thing scared the crap outta me. The biggest heli I had seen at the time was my own Blade 360CFX 3S. Lol

    The nice thing about the Brain FBL, with the PC config it is really hard to screw up so that it is not flyable. (BeastX, not so much... ask me how I know) "Gentle Giant" is how I think of my TREX-800 that I'm getting used to. Mikado makes some sweet looking birds. I'd like to get one someday.

    • @mikesmiscellanea
      @mikesmiscellanea 2 роки тому

      Absolutely, while a lot of people are fond of the BeastX, I find it a bit old hat now. Brain/Ikon and Spirit are much better units IMHO. I've just switched my own Trex 550X to a Spirit GT and it flies so much better! I don't think I'd ever buy a Mikado myself. Although the 800 flies beautifully, the kit quality wasn't great (one or two screws missing, one end of the boom was crushed/out of round and the manual isn't the most detailed) BUT! You can tell that there was no design consideration for cl an wiring or maintenance. I've heard they don't crash too well either.

    • @yzScott
      @yzScott 2 роки тому

      @@mikesmiscellanea A lot of people are fond of "cheap." I am now flying the Futaba 760R. They feel amazing. However, I still strongly prefer the PC based configuration of Brain/Ikon. Also, they can report HobbyWing telemetry with nothing more than a wire. As to kit quality, my TREX 800 kit had some issues. Threads weren't rolled out to the tips of the linkage rods between swash and rotor head. They could not be threaded into the ball links, no way. Also, the build went better when I quit looking at the book. The directions were sooo bad. 1) It references parts that are not included and should not be. (this caused the biggest confusion and slow downs) 2) The entire tail boom mount and gear set is entirely different than pictured 3) The tail servo mounting directions are entirely wrong. Shows mounting direct to carbon, but there is really an aluminum bracket. 4) Screw diagrams don't match what is used in step 5) Bag labels? LOL 6) Measurement diagrams not pointing to correct measure points on parts. 7) Probably more, but I quit looking at it... The new 2021 model is back to conventional head (no longer DFC). The boxes still show DFC. And canopy is a vintage Trekker unit (and paper thin). LOL

    • @yzScott
      @yzScott 2 роки тому

      @@Gsxrtrix Pros: The value of the combo with servos, motor, and ESC. Cons: Minor QC issues in kit and the manual was a joke. It's a "Chevy" as far 3D helis go. Parts are widely available and decent cost. If you compare the cost of other brand kits plus the electronics that come in the Align combos, it is essentially impossible to come close without use garbage parts. My previously largest heli was the 550X. I asked Alan Szabo, if he as was going to have just one of the big ones, which would it be? He said the 800, so that is what I bought. But, I'm sure I would love the 700 or even the 650 too. They are plenty big to have a log of presence in the air. But they are more powered up. I think the 700 and 800 share exactly same motor, but the 800 is a good bit heavier. The 800 still has plenty of power, the 700 would be a monster.

Conscendo Conscendo Conscendo. It's absolutely brilliant. Have a look at it. 3s learner friendly, 4s fully aerobatic. You're landing comment made me laugh, especially in light winds they really do glide forever meaning you have to start landing way downwind. Enter problem 2, a really narrow front profile 😁 Great fun though.
