Chris Guest shmoozes about Joel McCrea
Переглядів 4,6 тис.16 років тому
CHRISTOPHER GUEST SAID: "Joel McCrea is the quintessential Everyman. And really was always a hero to me. He didn't really attain the stature maybe of Gary Cooper or Jimmy Stewart in the community. But to me he was always one of my favorites. And he just seemed absolutely to be telling the truth. And was never winking at anything."
Chris Guest shmoozes about Joel McCrea's pants

Joel McCrea's sternum-high pants are an absolute scream. Also featured are the semi-mellifluous voices of Michael McKean & Noah Baumbach & Ken Bowser.

Chris Guest shmoozes about Peter Sellers

CHRISTOPHER GUEST SAID: "In comedies, in films, you either have people that are not really in their roles or you have people that just aren't funny. And he was so deeply invested in these people, that even if the film itself wasn't good, I was just obsessed with this incredible talent and ability to disappear into these people."
Chris Guest shmoozes about Fred Willard

CHRISTOPHER GUEST SAID: "Over 30 years ago, Fred & I were in a play at The Circle In The Square Theater called Little Murders. It was the first play I ever did. It was a Jules Feiffer play that Alan Arkin directed. I knew something was off when Fred actually started doing lines that weren't in the play. To me."
Chris Guest shmoozes about improvisation

CHRISTOPHER GUEST SAID: "It also should be pointed out by me, because I'm speaking, I guess that as opposed to what you see in a club, where you go to see improv in a club they're heading for a joke, basically. And the energy's a little more unreal. And that this is separate. Because it's more real-time behavior, perhaps. In the sense of: it's more realistic as far as energy goes."

CHRISTOPHER GUEST ON THE FOLKSMEN: "We've opened for Spinal Tap. We've opened for ourselves on occasion. We actually once got booed off. So that people could actually see us in different outfits. Which was a very surreal moment." [Christopher Guest]
Charly Rose was always such an annoying half-witted interrupting git. Its pretty clear CG isn't a fan.
Notice the hand to chin freemason gesture here. These elite bloodline secret society ghouls are actually signalling to each other.
I never knew why Charlie Rose was considered a great interviewer. Creepy bastard.
Everybody dance!
Hmm, conflation between mock, meaning fake and mock, meaning to look down on. It’s a fake documentary, not a documentary of people mocking.
Always thought Rose was a buffoon, this revealing and their portrayal of him in For Your Considerations, are EXACTLY the way I saw him. Has asks question with seven questions and then answers it…
Charlie Rose is so bad at this.
Everyone who sees him should walk up and slap Balabban on the head and say 'stagecraft 101' and glare at him and then furiously stalk away.😂
I don’t think Christopher Guest is capable of shmoozing
The end of this clip is amazing. Guest has a way of making silly people look silly and there’s no one more suited for that treatment than Charlie Rose.
Charlie Rose is such a dork.
another bad interviewer. it must be hellish for people to have to do these shows
RIP Fred Willard ... I've been a fan since Fernwood Tonight1
I remember "Waiting for Guffman." I fell in love with Christopher Guest films -- and Fred, Catherine, Eugene, Michael, Bob and . . .
Not exactly Charlie's finest interview. Didn't seem to connect with Chris at all.
I love it. Christopher Guest is like “Wow” at the things Rose is saying at the end of this. Hilarious.
Guests films are my favorite comedies..omg.
lt's all falling into place. Huge plywood banjo. Stonehenge 18" model in Spinal Tap. Hmmm.
Cmon...give it a multilateral feeling ...
Christopher Guest is serious about funny.
The last 30 seconds of this interview 😂
This interview annoyed Christopher Guest so much that he made a spoof of a public television chat show with a pompous, interjecting interviewer in his next film, For Your Consideration.
Is Charlie Rose drunk?
Fred says even the ladies and whispers into the guys ear, everyone is thinking wet tee shirt contest, brilliant!
Fred was a genius
Maybe Charlie was searching for the word “endearing” to describe the passionate people in the films. At least that’s the thought that’s always come to my mind when I watch them. I feel like most of the characters have always come across with a certain endearing quality where you’re still rooting for them..but I don’t think Guest can get away with smoothing over that they are poking fun even if it’s good spirited. That’s what most of comedy is. Laughing at ourselves and reflections of ourselves.
Too bad Rob Reiner turned out to be one of the most hate-mongering Communists ever seen. Who knew he wasn’t acting in “All in the Family”?
Why did Fred leave?! WAH HOPPEN!!
Charlie seems not to "get it."
He's one of the most underappreciated comedic minds of our time.
Truth! My EBS bass amp goes to 11 on the drive and master volume controls! 🙂🙂
meaning of "shmooze" verb: talk with someone in a lively and friendly way, typically in order to impress or manipulate them. "it's a good time to put yourself forward, to network and to schmooze"
I think you need to lookup the meaning of "shmooze"
❤
Guest just quickly workshopping “A Multi-Lateral Feeling” as the title of a follow-up film
Two word review of Charlie Rose. Shit Sandwich.
LOVE Christ Guest and crew!!!
Don’t drag Jesus into this.
I didn't realize how much I love Christopher Guest until I saw this interview. One of the funniest people ever.
I didn't recognize Guest without his English accent. How did he learn to speak Americanese so well? Not one trace of an English accent, as if he was born in the U.S.. He must sing everything in his head before he says it. All brits sound American when singing.
Fred is the best.
RIP.
jesus Charlie.... what's your problem "take" off.

Charlie Rose is a terrible interviewer
If you’re in the mood to laugh, cringe & cry all at once, find the Synchronized Swimming sketch with Guest & Short on SNL. Mockumentary classic that’s probably not aged well with the PC crowd but still kills me every time.
Synchronized Swimming was a great short film directed by Guest. It still holds up well. ☺
Rose is just about the worst to ever do this
Charlie Rose administers yet another thorny interview.
I loved this, except for the Charlie Rose parts. And it's not because of what he did to lose this gig. It's because he's completely cringe worthy.
Charlie Rose occasionally does good interviews, but he's annoying in this one. He didn't give Guest the time to be thoughtful in his answers. You could tell Guest was thinking a lot about the questions. Whenever he paused, Rose would interrupt and try and guide the answer. It thus shortened what Guest was going to say and too often took him in a different direction.
Charlie Rose is a terrible interviewer.
Thank you for everything Chris! Here’s something for you: ua-cam.com/video/Epm1AKFshWw/v-deo.html
