Reimagining Nadia
Приєднався 9 бер 2011
Welcome to Reimiagining Nadia!
I'm Nadia De Ala, a 30-something, first-gen, US citizen, and daughter of Filipino immigrants who moved from Oakland/Bay Area 🤘🏽 to Oaxaca, Mexico. 🇲🇽
I'm a dreamer and creator. All my life, I've followed my heart and trusted my gut to take leaps and change shit up to be more values-aligned, liberated, and joyful.
I've been working remotely since 2017, when I left my 6-figure tech job to take a sabbatical and start my business, Real You Leadership, as a leadership & negotiation coach for BIPOC women & femmes, speaker, trainer, and creative.
Migrating to Mexico has been a longtime dream of mine to nurture a new pace of life, immerse fully in Spanish, bask in the sun, and know the heart of my partner's homeland more intimately.
Join me in my unfolding journey where I'll share content like:
✨ Growth mindset wisdom
💜 Life and leadership lessons
✊🏽 Personal liberation & activism
🤤 Hella delicious food
🎨 Play, art, and poetry

Solo Artist Date in Oaxaca w/ Me - Indigo Dye Workshop from Scratch!
In this video, I take you on a playful solo 'Artist Date,' inspired by the Artist's Way concept of an artist date. Even though I haven't read the book myself 😆, my coaching clients and artist homies swear by it to spark creativity and imagination--so I've been giving them a try while living in Oaxaca.
The idea of an artist date is simple: a weekly, festive solo outing to explore anything that interests you, play without the worry of becoming an expert, and ignite your inner artist.
Today, I'm exploring the beautiful "Taller de Añil," a natural indigo dyeing workshop at the hipster haven "MICHA" in Oaxaca (y'all should check it out).
Here, I learn the intricate process of making indigo dye from scratch-something I can't wait to try at home! This experience is part of my journey to reimagine my artist life and align with my childhood dream of being a creative soul.
Come with me as I reclaim my identity as an artist, find inspiration, and ignite my imagination. 🌟

👋🏽 Background: I'm a first-generation Filipina-American, daughter of immigrants, who just left the Bay Area to migrate to Oaxaca, the homeland of my partner. After visiting for years, we finally decided to go and call Oaxaca home. I'm sharing my process of learning the life, culture, and language here, and my vision to reimagine everything -- dreams, success, pace of life, and joy.

What you'll see: 🌈 Listen to some of the activists, organizers, and leaders...

Hola! We have been traveling central Mexico since late in 2022 in our old RV and currently parked in Santa Maria del Tule for a while. We roll slow so months in each spot. Love it and that mercado in Oaxaca (Merced) is a favorite of mine!
Yum!🤤
I love this!! looks like such a fun activity and amazing that you have pieces to take home at the end :D
Wow! What fun! Lovely art.
Two of my Favorite places, Mexico and the Bay Area!!! Love It!

Wow! So refresing to find videos made by a Bay Area mujer. I'm a Xicana living in Oakland and planning to move to Oaxaca early 2025. I'm an artist, writer and musician. I would love to connect with you when I get there! Do you have an email where I can contact you? I appreciate your heart-centered and honest approach to your videos. Gracias

WAKEUP MEXICO. GRINGOS ARE INVADING OUR COUNTRY!!! THEY WERE RACIST AGAINST MEXICANS N U.S.
happy anniversary, friend. <3 so much wisdom here. TY for sharing with us.
Thank you so much, friend! 💜
"i didnt know myself to know where to go next" THIS 1000000%!! I am feeling so much resonance right now. Im reading a book called "i survived capitalism and all i got was this lousy t shirt" and a big takeaway was that the narrator had this overbearing feeling that she had to "get out" of where she was out but never really knew where to go. Ive always felt the pressure to hussle and move fast but its hard to slow down and think "where am i actually going?" -angel (i have a goofy youtube handle 😂)
Angel, I love what you shared (and your goofy youtube handle full of love and pride!) -- thank you for the book rec, and for reflecting back what resonated with you most. I hope you find more ways to release the hustle culture pressure, slow down, and move in a direction that makes you happiest.
love seeing Oaxaca through your eyes! thanks for sharing with us

You are living the dream. I've been to Oaxaca and it is high on my list of favorite places in Mexico next to Guadalajara.
Ohhhh I’ve heard Guadalajara is an amazing city! Definitely will make a trip up there asap.
The vibes from your new home are giving me nostalgic memories of living in the Philippines. All the food looks sooooooooo good. I’m so hungry watching this vlog
😍 I love that this is bringing back the homeland to you. I haven't lived in the Philippines, but there are so many moments I'll be walking or sitting somewhere, and core memories of my childhood visits will come through. The food is seriously as good as it looks -- or better!
Dios mío! All of that food looks so good 😭💛🤤 lol @ building the spice tolerance 😂 can't wait to see more of your new life!!
They don't play here with the salsa spices, but I'm jumping right in! 😅
