Happened to bump into this thread from years ago - any updates on what was the reason? I was just thinking that though you are able to get 29Watts on the other end of a dead string because there was not voltage drop since nothing was coursing thru it must be a transformer issue right?

Use another rele, like the one for brake light, a rele kost maks 10 dollar

Would have been good to actually put it back in that wrong position for clearity . It couldn't have been locked into the plastic tabs either in the wrong position .... So can that happen from being dropped on that side of the Bike .???? And the lever coming out of the plastic tabs .... humm . Maybe not a Factory mess up .

Thanks for the detailed video, hopefully mine has the same problem. Also Honda really screwed up by not designing the tank to avoid scratching those fairings when you lower it. Theres no chance your going to notice the first time you do it and then your just screwed.

Run a jumper at plugin and reverse the connection input and outputs. LED's can be only powered in one direction, seems they assembled the end on incorrectly.

Do you know what resistance it gives empty and full?

~12.7 is perfect, I have the same problem with my wife's CBR 125r. Exactly the same bike you have, but in Repsol painting. Try with the fuses, after winter they like to fail, so check them first. Or maybe you have a solution already?

On side their it two relays the one with 2 pins is for indicators and other (right next to it) is a power / voltage relay . I would say it's power relay that's buggerd . Mine went last year and caused loads of strange problems.

Thanks a lot for this detailed tutorial.I have a 2253BW display which has the same power supply . 4 capacitors had bulges. They were 820µF 25V, but as I didn't have those values, I replaced them by capacitors connected in parallel: 680µF+100µF which provides 780µF and 470µF+330µF=800µF. However I don't notice any changes: the backlight still shuts off after 1 second. Is it so much dependant on capacitor values? Or may I replace more capacitors even if they seem OK (no bulges)? I already fixed some displays by only replacing capacitors which looked defective. But this power supply seems to be more tricky.

What is your time worth? Cheaper, faster, easier to buy a new set....

1) Agree with Ernie on measuring AMPs ... measure in series. 2) Try plugging in your blue string lights directly into the power unit (i.e. remove the white string lights).

Just bought a 07 CBR 125. Guy couldn't get it started. It worked fine for a few months ago. I know it isnt major issues. ( I hope lol) but it makes the same sound. I hope it's the same issue and with a battery replacement it will work fine. Great video and glad it worked out for you.

This video was able to help me with my problem on my bike. It was the exact same thing. I bought a new battery and viola problem immediately solved. I'm so glad I didn't go to replace those relays first. Saved $20, though the battery was like $200

Thank you for this. Now I can see what to expect when the house we are in the process of buying, gets scoped this Friday. We are hoping orangeburg is not present but there are no city permits that indicate any work was done. The realtor says that doesn't mean it wasn't done and to wait and see what the scope shows. Hopefully, it's been replaced and was not noted.
