To have to go off into a sideline out of necessity, is criminal of the powers that just keep being. Anyway CHRIS, as always, and maybe even more,I love what you possess, and hope you find peace in your style, and talent, if the two intersect, thats a real gift, to you and all who share in same. One of my favorite songs on the record

When my youngest son was a baby, I would sing this song to him as I rocked him to sleep. He's a grown man now but to this day when I hear this song I think about all those times and how he would smile and gently drift off to dreams in my arms. Love you son!

I'm a huge Garth Brooks fan and have been since his first album dropped, and i believe this is his best work. Too bad no one was willing to accept Garth as a rock star.

Them Nashville people would never let Garth Brooks have a Wurlitzer electric piano solo, dry as a bone, panned hard left, for a good portion of the song…but Chris Gaines could get away with it! In hindsight, the 90s were way more experimental than they seemed at the time. I mean, just the fact that this album exists is a testament to that! One could argue that the old “music industry” peaked in the mid-90s. Garth was larger than life…it seems that image was suffocating to him in ways and he needed to do this! I’m so glad he did. More artists should dare to be so bold!

Sometime in the early 2000s. Not sure the exact year, probably 2001-2003. I was having an identity crisis, I dont know where my life is going. (At the age of 22) One day i was just the usual me, going out of the house without any exact destination. I found myself in a mall. I always go to the music store to have a listen to any music genre. Then i came across of this album. Didnt know Garth Brooks, specially Chris Gaines. But the music in this album really struck me. Its like my world stops and it made me think of whats happening in my life. Bought this album and every night in my bed playing this entire album crying. 😅😅😅

It took guts to do this album, and I, for one, am over the moon thankful he did it. Fantastic piece of work.

Best Garth Brooks song that nobody knows about because he sang it under a different name. Still hoping someone will cover it, so it will be rescued from obscurity.

I am one of the few that actually liked this album. I really think people did not understand, and refused to understand, that this album was supposed to be a soundtrack to a movie. It was NOT an alter-ego of Garth. It was actually a unique and creative concept. But anyway...that argument is for another day. This has always been my favorite track on the album. Loved it since the first time I heard the opening drums. I really hope that the Brooks organization does not remove this from UA-cam. I specifically pay for Amazon Music, despite the fact that it sucks (terrible UI on mobile and desktop), to get Garth's music. This album is NOT available on Amazon Music. I bought the album in 1999, but I couldn't tell you where the CD is at this point. And frankly, easily playing a CD is not terribly convenient at this point for most people. I don't have a CD player set up to easily play it. I always look for this album at used stores when I am browsing and it is never available. No vinyl release yet. Garth...help us out here. Lots of us love this album. Make it available or please don't remove it from YT. I'm not trying to steal from you, my guy! I bought the album. And I would buy it again if that is the only way to hear it. I don't get removing things from YT when there is no other option to obtain the material. Yes, this was a long comment. If anybody is still reading, sorry. :)

Hey! Erst einmal danke für dieses ausführliche Video! Ich finde es schön, dass auch im deutschsprachigen UA-cam-Raum langsam mehr zum ESC gemacht wird. Bei einigen Jury-Merkmalen würde ich gerne widersprechen. Vor allem was den Punkt mit der Landessprache und den ausgefallenen Beiträgen angeht. Vielleicht betrifft dies nicht gerade dieses Jahr, aber in der Vergangenheit wurden ausgefallene Beiträge, die meist in Landessprache präsentiert wurden, von den Jurys übelst abgestraft (Moldawien 2022) bzw. sogar um den Sieg gebracht (Finnland 2023). Schweden ist ja gerade ein Land, welches in den vergangenen zehn Jahren fast immer höher von den Jurys eingeschätzt wurde, als vom Publikum. Schweden ist zugleich das einzige Land seit dem Wegfall der Landessprachen-Regelung im Jahr 1999, welches seit jenem Jahr nicht mal mehr eine Zeile in seiner eigenen Sprache sang. Eventuell hat der Jurywertungsskandal aus dem Vorjahr, als der klare Publikumssieger Käärijä aus Finnland als Sieger verhindert wurde dafür gesorgt, dass jetzt langsam aber sicher ein Umdenken bei den Jurys und deren Besetzung stattfindet. Zu den Fanwertung: Beziehst du dich hierbei auf das OGAE-Clubvoting von den offiziellen Eurovision-Fanclubs? Diese sind ja gerade berühmt berüchtigt dafür, bei vielen Beiträgen krass daneben zu liegen. Da war 2023 auch eher ne Ausnahme als die Regel. Der Grund: Um dort werten zu dürfen, muss man Mitglied in dem Verein sein, weshalb da in der Regel 5.000 Stimmen erfasst werden. Und Leute, die in einem ESC-Fanclub Mitglied sind spiegeln in den meisten Fällen nur bestimmte Demografien wieder und können nicht mit dem allgemeinen Fußvolk verglichen werden. Bei den ESC-Fans kann man übrigens generell sagen, dass sie gegenüber bestimmten Acts und Genres voreingenommen sind. Die sogenannten Girlbops (Uptempolieder mit tanzenden Frauen) sind dort sehr, sehr beliebt. Diese Beliebtheit spiegelt sich beim allgemeinen Fußvolk jedoch nicht zwingend wieder. Manchmal klappt es (Spanien 2022), manchmal überhaupt nicht (jetzt Österreich 2024). Zudem ändert sich der Ton gegenüber manchen Beiträgen mit der Live-Performance beim ESC. Irland in diesem Jahr ist ein Musterbeispiel. Ein Beitrag, der in der irischen "Vorentscheidung" mit einem Niedrigbudget inszeniert wurde und dann beim ESC selbst optisch ordentlich aufgewertet wurde. Dies konnte man zum Zeitpunkt der Wertungsabgabe bei der OGAE-Poll halt noch nicht vorhersehen.

Wo hast du das nachgeschlagen, wenn ich fragen darf? Ich denke, dass da etwas nicht ganz stimmt. Alle Beiträge werden von Juroren mit einem Punktewert versehen, nur, dass es hier zu einer exponentiell absteigenden Kurve kommt. So bekommt Platz 1 die 12 Punkte und der letzte Platz 1 Punkt. Die Punkte werden dann zusammengezählt und die zehn Beiträge mit den meisten Punkten bekommen dann richtige ESC-Jurypunkte. Das ist seit 2018 die Regel.
