      No, this is an old old inverter that definitely wouldn't of come under the g100 rules for today.

    Any updates on the cause of an internal Riso fault like this? I've just experienced the most amazing - and unfortunate - coincidence with a couple of these inverters. My Aurora One developed the common E031 fault, so I replaced all 4 relays. Refitted the inverter, and it immediately returned a Riso of 0.00 ohms, regardless of which of the two PV strings were connected - very strange. As a complete ZERO-ohm Riso on BOTH strings didn't make much sense, I assumed that I'd messed up my repair and caused this new issue myself, so I bought a professionally-refurbished Aur-One to replace it with. Fitted the new one, and it worked - for around 5-10 minutes! I'm sure I heard a wee 'zzzp' from inside it, my RCD was tripped, and when I reset the RCD, this new inverter ALSO gave a Riso of absolute zero! What the heck?! Ok, going a bit crazy, I checked the cabling of the panels, and replaced the original connectors with MC4s, even tho' they all looked ok, and the cables had no visible damage at all. Unsurprisingly, this made no difference - still a complete ZERO Riso! By now, I had to suspect the ridiculous - TWO Aur-Ones had developed an internal Riso fault, at pretty much the same time! I essentially proved this when I luckily found a new-old-stock Aur-One which I got for a good price, and fitted this. It worked perfectly - and still is, months later. That means that TWO Aur-Ones developed the SAME zero-Riso fault within minutes of each other - no wonder it drove me crazy. I opened my original inverter for a physical look of the boards, but could see nothing amiss. The refurbished one was returned under warranty, and they provided a full refund. I did ask if they'd let me know what the cause was, but they sadly haven't replied, so this remains a mystery. I'd love to know what the internal cause of this Riso fault is 🙂

    Thanks for the video and info. My system has failed at some point over the last month or so, within a few weeks of a smart meter being installed - coincidence? - but I can't get close enough to the unit to do anything myself (mobility and access issues). Installer went bust a couple of years ago (then reopened under new company) so looks like I've got some fun & games with the insurer/warranty, and I've got to find an electrician to do the work. Sheesh!

      A friend had the same issue and finally discovered that on grid side, it was lightning protection cartridge failing. It was no external sign of failure but immediatly after replaced, the system worked fine again.

      yes it did!! Strings were all fine. New inverter was needed.

    Those panel leads look like Amphonal H4 connections. They melt and fail all the time. MC4 is the way to go. Also don't plug Amphonal to MC4. Only MC4 to MC4

    Did you cable tie the box's and secure them to a joist?

    • @repsyltd
      @repsyltd 3 роки тому

      Extremely awkward access restricted us from fixing anything, the cable was deep in the eves. We were lucky we could even carry out the repair.

    I replaced a customer's Power One PVI-3.8 with a "Missing Grid" error about a month ago. The new inverter worked for the first few weeks, but after the first rain its been having a ground fault with RISO measuring 0.1 MOhm. Anyways, headed back today to check the panels and connectors like you did in this video. Cheers!

      Check the main string connections from inverter to the 1st panel(s) They maybe corroded. Try and keep all cables including mc4 plugs off of the roof. They are a sucker for picking up riso faults. Good luck.

    Don't forget to carry out an insulation resistance test with the circuit earth connected in the main earth bar and put one your test leads on the main earth bar ..

      Total luck to be fair... could of been anywhere. It was relatively close to the loft hatch as well.

    Great video, so I assume you cut out the piece with the nail in it and then the white flex joined the two wago boxes together?

    • @repsyltd

      The white flex was actually twin and earth.. all we had.. was a nightmare where it was..
