    I owned one of these back in the 90's when it was still somewhat new. I loved the car, but absolutely fell apart when it got like 90k miles on it. I would have been dollars ahead buying a nice, brand new one with a warranty. Lots of issues, it's just a complex car and I'm sure parts now are a nightmare.

    Very nice but certainly not the best looking SN95, Saleen, 03-04 Cobra, and to me a regular GT also looks better (all subjective of course) but the rigid mud flaps, no spoiler, fog light delete and scoop delete takes away from its look.. Also the colors are terrible except for the Black, again just a subjective honest opinion..

      @STRTayso that sounds like a good deal for a 95, they have Teflon coated rotors, and a physically larger inlet to the supercharger, definitely desirable, and they should have a better more reliable ignition setup than early model supercoupes.

    there is a fix and its none of this, not a relocated battery, not adding air bags, not stiffer sway bar bushings, besides converting to auto theres one thing. Works on Mustangs and stopped it 100% percent the suspension oscillation, cost about 100$

      @@PowershiftFactory lol 😁, quad shocks, beats me if anything else works. I just welded 90deg brackets on top of the upper arms and sandwiched the inner 1/4 panel sheet metal with steel plates on both sides for strength to hold the other side of the shocks. Positioned them so they dont rub the tires and all the hop was gone right away. This was on a factory suspension setup too. Did this about 20 years ago on a SC I converted to a 351W 393CI stroker.

    This is soemthign i need to do on my coupe. That is something i noticed also on my coupe is how "loose" the back end feels. When i punch it from a stop the car will squat the rear and always does a little kick to the left IRC it has been a few years since i drove the car. I feel like if i did a complete rear end overhaul and stiffened everything up with lowered springs and 18" rims on 245's the car would be a riot to rip around on windy roads.

      For a stock car, remove the air silencer in the fender well, get a cone intake/filter, and overdrive that blower at least 10% Mine has so much whine because the blower has a 15% overdrive and is a Magnum Powers MPX90 case without the noise silencers cut in the blower outlet. I also have a huge 85mm Throttle body and a 95mm MAF so i have huge air flow into the blower and out compared to a stock setup. Its running something like 18 PSI of boost or so.

      The biggest thing I learned was if something looked like it was in the way you need to remove it, there are little short cuts to be had and the faster and easier route is just more disassembly! Honestly the aftermarket charge piping just helps sooo much in making this easier! But for top end work you gotta take take the wiper assembly out for sure!

    Great video but the brake pad surface area on the disc looks around 60% they don't look big enough to make use of huge Disc upgrade???

    • @PowershiftFactory
      @PowershiftFactory 8 місяців тому

      That's a really good question and honestly I thought the same thing as you did when I upgraded my Dakota years ago but in practice it doesn't really matter. You have a greater / more even clamping force with more pistons, you still have the increased leverage due to the larger rotor diameter as well, and you still add substantial thermal capacity with the larger rotor which is ultimately more important. Even looking at the OEM 2 piston Cobra brake setup it only uses about 60% of the available rotor surface as well. You can quickly reach the point of diminishing returns where you could spend 4x the money on a bigger caliper but will not even see close to a few % of improvement.

      Can't say the same for any of the v8s stock. Those RL's are fucking terrorists. And I personally handed out the L's in one. For a rwd 194hp v6 truck to match it up to about 40 is insane.

      @PowershiftFactory 9 місяців тому

      The late model Magnum small blocks are good engines the biggest downside they have compared to say a SBF or SBC or the 80s and 90s really was the fact that Dodge only had trucks to put these engines into at the time so they got intakes and camshafts fully optimized for that use where as the SBF and SBC were used in Camaros and Mustangs as well so were a little more performance oriented but of course being a truck Mopar gave these engines all iron heads. But the little 3.9L is a great engine, but i might swap to a 5.2L in the future since I have one with some performance parts sitting around!

    • @undamagedpuppy4830
      @undamagedpuppy4830 9 місяців тому

      @PowershiftFactory hmmm I'll fs have to look into that. I'm prolly gonna keep the v6 only because when I do start building her, she's gonna be more prerunner/dune eater type shit. She's gonna be slow fs. But if I want a speed demon offroader, I'd go get an isuzu rodeo with the 3.2 🥰. Such a fucking demon on the trails. All in all the 3.9L gets my seal of approval as a lover of v6 engines.

    I have both a 90 sc auto, with motorcraft arc shocks, and an 89 sc 5sp, with original shocks. The 89 does ride stiffer than the 90, especially in firm mode.

    • @PowershiftFactory
      @PowershiftFactory 9 місяців тому

      For sure the 89 SC sway bar is stiffer, not a lot though but i was able to notice it. I think the '89 SC also had stiffer springs which would make it ride stiffer, I suspect ford probably changed thing sup either to save cost or maybe some people complained about the comfort of their flag ship sport luxury car so they softened it up. I need to get my rear Eibach springs installed in this car as well as a stiffer front sway bar.

    •  9 місяців тому

      @@PowershiftFactory I would think customer complaints on a slighty stiff a ride on their "luxury" car. Also the 89 with a 5spd got the most aggressive camshaft of all the SC's. In later years, the piston clearance was reduced to quiet engine noise down, especially cold.

    The notorious SC wheel hop, ouch! What bushing kits did you use on the rear upper knuckles? Look like 3 piece urethane?

    • @PowershiftFactory
      @PowershiftFactory 10 місяців тому

      I used Energy Suspension 43163G for the knuckles you can pick them up for $55 on rock auto. At the advice of Dave at Supercoupes Unlimited i did not use lube on the bushing to knuckles as he said the can pop out. I'll probably upgrade to UHMW at somepoint but the price was right on poly and its better than the beat up stock bushings!

    Nice work. Good to see you keeping yours nice. In the 90’s had an 89 ,white, 5 speed, grey leather. Eibachs 17” OZ Monte Carlo’s with 245’s all around, resonator delete with dynomax cat back. Smaller pulley, super chips chip. Really liked that car. Get nostalgic for another one but the cost and hassle to get one nice again is too much.

      I ordered them from Super coupe performance several years ago as one of the last runs that Bill got of them from Tokiko. I used a rebuilt alternator it took me a bit to find new brushes to repair the OEM alternator but I have since done that so I have a spare rebuilt one now as well.

      Yeah I was trying to figure out what to do with it, I'm glad it didn't damage the heater box or glove box. I think if i can get it shaped back together I could wrap the dash in some vinyl or something and get it looking better than it was originally. So probably a dash repair video is in my future. It makes perfect sense for a touring car to have one, and considering some SC have an extra cd player on top of the track player/ radio it’s possible to route those wires to power it without draining your battery But I’m in agreement, I think stock looks great already, I just want some mesquite accents to mix it up
