Commencement of the 262nd Graduating Class of Central High School of Philadelphia
"And when at last we leave behind thy sheltering portals wide, thy honor still we'll cherish, whate'er may us betide..."
Captured from the VHS tape "262 Graduation and Senior Memories". The audio is a bit out of sync, sorry about that.

PBS Long Ago and Far Away - Svatohor (Program 26)
Переглядів 10 тис.10 років тому
This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros (unfortunately, the outro, closing credits, and even the last few seconds of the film are missing from this one; sorry for that). Svatohor is a 1984 film of Czechoslovakian origin, directed by Ivan Renc, with an English dub voiced by Tammy Grimes. I have no intention of monetizing this video, only to...

This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros (unfortunately, the outro and closing credits are missing from this one, as was the full intro; I have added the generic Long Ago and Far Away intro at the front). This version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin was made by Cosgrove Hall in 1980. I have no intention of monetizing this video, only to make i...

Переглядів 4,4 тис.10 років тому
This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros/outros. As Long As He Can Count the Cows is a 1985 Danish docudrama. Its Danish title appears to be "Når bare han kan tælle køerne", and googling this produces a handful of results, most of them (predictably) in Danish. It looks like it has only appeared in English on Long Ago and Far Away. I have no...

This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros/outros (the tape was missing some parts of them on this episode, so I added some pieces from other episodes on either end). The Talking Parcel is a 1978 adaptation by Cosgrove Hall of a 1974 book by Gerald Durrell. A DVD was made of this at some point, with a rather poor remaster if the comments are ...

This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros/outros (clipped a bit on the front of this one, though). The Talking Parcel is a 1978 adaptation by Cosgrove Hall of a 1974 book by Gerald Durrell. A DVD was made of this at some point, with a rather poor remaster if the comments are to be believed, but it appears to be out of print. Long Ago and Far...

This is an episode of WGBH's "Long Ago and Far Away" recorded around 1990, including the intros/outros (clipped a bit on the front of this one, though). The Sleeping Princess is an episode of a BBC series called Jackanory Playhouse. I have no intention of monetizing this video, only to make it available for fear it otherwise would be lost to time. Ownership of this material is (I assume) retain...
PBS WHYY Segment on Standard Time in the US
Переглядів 2,1 тис.10 років тому
This is a segment aired on Philadelphia's PBS station WHYY sometime in the early 90s about the introduction of time zones and standard time by the railroads in the US, and starring Marshall Efron. So far no luck finding any information on the series of which it was a part. (Thanks to John Lamb for identifying the actor, though!) I have no intention of monetizing this video, only to make it avai...
Godspeed James Earl Jones you will be Missed
@12:18- "CONCERT PARTY! GET ON PARADE!!!"
Ah, the memories. We still have our copy of Oregon Trail II.
R.I.P., James Earl Jones.
Rest In Peace James Earl Jones!
Rest In Peace James Earl Jones!
I hope PBS does a tribute to James regarding this series!
Thanks so much for posting this. When I was told about James Earl Jones's death today, I said, "Well, my favorite thing he did was a PBS series that my kids and I watched, called _Long Ago and Far Away_." Rest in Peace, Mr. Jones.
RIP James Earl Jones (1931 - 2024) 😢
Rest in Peace sir!! Thank you for being an amazing part of my childhood with this magical series.
RIP James Ear Jones the world misses you
I loved this series.
Legendary programming and I'm so glad I found this particular episode.
Long ago and far away, fromy my childhood, i taped the frog and toad episode,, as i was into vintage stop by stop captureing, and vintage1/4'' audio tape recordings/...
Thank you so much for posting this. PBS needs to show them again.
I remember this PBS show and this fairytale. This title reminds me of Sleeping Beauty with the same name.
I remember watching this in school. I think i was in 4th grade. Scared the crap out of me. This is still weird to watch. This weirdo kidnapped the kids
Thank you for posting this one too! I used to watch the show with my daughter.
Thank you for posting. This program had great stories and James Earl Jones!
Oscar the sea serpent strikes me as a friend of the Beatles, Beany & Cecil, and Dr. Seuss.
James Earl Jones is the best!
Does anyone in the UK remember a similar show where in each episode, live actors would do an introduction of the story by gazing in to a mirror. Each episode featured two stories, each animated but with varying styles. Though the first episode never had an epilogue for the actor featured.
My favorite tv series when I was little on pbs on Sunday mornings
LOL! I love this episode. The silly lies that Ethelred cooks up really make me laugh: "I'm a weretoad. Even more 'orrible and cunning!"
Penelope really enjoys walking barefoot :)
You just don’t see these kinds of shows anymore. What a blessing to see this again... thank you.
never break a promise
I'm lucky 14! what a gem out of the entire LA&FA series this one takes the cake of should I say the pie!
𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙢 💥
❤️ thank you for this...
I'm trying to locate a stop animation Beauty and the Beast from the late 70's or early 80's. The heroine is blonde in this version. Any ideas?
This is version is dark
If you think this one’s dark, watch the version by Jiri Barta It’s like The Pied Piper meets Junji Ito
James Earl Jones. Only he can exhibit how a thespian orders a pizza....... LOL
Long Ago and Far Away Funding
Ermagerd, the prince sexually assaulted the princess!
Who’s the actress playing the princess?
WHYY is this the only ident video from this channel?"
WHYY do I love this ident?
Because the animation is smooth in my opinion, that's WHYY!
@@JontyMaster The music also sounds nice.
I remember watching this every Sunday after church back in the day. It used to come on after Beezus and Ramona at 4:30 PM on PBS (WTTW Channel 11 here in Chicago). Good times.
It was during the tail end of the era where they let Nick produced their first game show Double Dare in their studios before moving to Nick Studios later the same year.
Fond memories.
Hey that sounds like George Carlin (The narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine). He is best known as Mr. Conductor of Shining TIme Station.
He's best known for his long-lived career as a stand-up comic, but his role as Mr. Conductor is certainly not overlooked. :)
I read in Stephen Morris’ ‘Record Play Pause’ that Bernard Sumner contributed the early synth parts to the background of this as part of his actual job whilst in Joy Division. Anyone care to confirm this?
Says on IMDb that he was trace and paint artist as Bernard Dickin and he was also artist in Jamie and The Magic Torch.
Yes he did.
@@martinquarton184 Ta!
You know he abused those kids. The lame one escaped.
Long ago and far away my favorites in the 80s Washington every afternoon at 5 in the 80s PBS this story in particular brings back very good memories one of those shows that are one of the best things that ever touched our lives in the 80s
OMG!!!!! from another lifetime ago...
saw this in 1978 Boxing day
Saw this 40 years ago
Love this old classic. Parrot reminds me of the second incarnation of the Doctor.
