Here at Forest Wonders Pets we love educating the Public in how to raise a pet baby bird.
Will share the importance, short and long term commitments, ups, downs and the rewards.
We have over 32 years of experience in caring, hand-feeding and fostering baby hook-bills.
Please keep in mind that raising a baby bird is a huge responsibility and must be done by experience hand-feeders.
Our technics might be different from other professionals and we understand that not everyone will agree with us.
Important: If a wild baby bird is found, please contact your States Fish and Wildlife Agency.

Bird Toys
While taking the video my fears re-emerged when I didn’t properly secure a toy.
For many years I’ve had doubts regarding bird toys.
Many years back I had a bad experience when my bird nail gotten caught on a nylon rope, luckily I was home and the bird wasn’t severely hurt.
I also had doubts about bacteria buildup and ingesting toy particles.
The idea of loosing my bird lingered in my mind for many years, so 15 years ago I stopped using bird toys.
Since today I’m able to spend more time with my birds, I will once again try it out.
But while taking the video my fears re-emerged when I didn’t secure a toy properly and a baby and the toy dropped to the bottom.
“The baby wasn’t hurt”
This was another learning experience.

Where do you live
These are wild South African birds. Using long grass, they weave beautiful nests in reeds/trees. They will NOT breed in a cage. Please let these birds be happy and stay in the wild.
Tyr Loki I couldn’t agree with you more. But these birds are actually an invasive species in Puerto Rico and we hold special permits to export. As you may know, invasive species compete for natural resources with other native species and destroy crops that otherwise wouldn’t be destroy by native species. Another factor is that they will breed in captivity with the proper space and caring. It’s a 100% proven fact . Our birds are kept in large aviaries where they could exercise their natural behavior.
