I became a paper mache pro with this one. It tested all my skills and ingenuity.
This is more of an intermediate artist video. It begins in the middle of the Venetian mask making method, after I’ve learned a lot. You might want to check out previous videos about mold making, mask making and use of color along with watching this one.

      Holaaaa! Se llama yeso de París. In English, plaster of Paris, or casting plaster. O yeso para moldes. Mold plaster. No se dónde vives, pero se vende en home Depot o Lowe's o en tiendas de arte. ❤️

      Thank you! I love craft and figuring out how to make stuff. I have many mold making videos. The most recent series called Diane’s "Pride" has two, and these are older: ua-cam.com/video/kFX7ITV5SYQ/v-deo.htmlsi=9Iock1R2CiEXlbnW ua-cam.com/video/Nq0RWq7wPH0/v-deo.htmlsi=krWIFOQxoy_JtyW2 And I plan on making a video soon where I show all the materials. But now that I think about it, there is one from a while back. Take a look at my channel and you’ll find it. 🙂

    I love watching you work on your sculptures! I will absolutely be trying this recipe. Do you think it could be used in the molds alone, without any layers of paper and glue? If so what would you suggest for mold release? I am trying to capture more detailed textures and my sculptures are much smaller than yours. Thank you for sharing your techniques.

    • @atelierarenas
      @atelierarenas Місяць тому

      Thank you!!! The paper paste absolutely can be used in the molds but it's a different technique. It's more fragile and it shrinks, but working small, like you are, it will take the details of the mold. There's a video in my paper mache playlist where a man makes a tangerine using toilet paper. That might help you. Make sure to use wax and some kind of thinner as a mold release. Vaseline migrates and can discolor the final piece. ❤️😊

    • @atelierarenas

      Hi. Thank you! 😌 Newspaper is almost exactly the same weight as the craft paper that I'm using. If you can find tortilla paper, what they use to wrap the tortillas for sale, that should be the same weight. Other than that, PVA glue, a scalpel, threaded rod, USG casting plaster. Those should be easy to find. Plasticine, a harder one for sculptures, from an art store, and a softer one for mold beds and walls from a kids store? Mine is non toxic made for kids.

      Hi Kim. I don't know how long the paper will last, but I have a few sculptures that are several years old. I have the first one that I made and it looks like I just made it. The only problem I've had so far is that one got wet and got moldy. That's why I'm so careful to keep them dry.
