T Gauge Model Train Layout Set in Bavaria
I've been building some T-gauge buildings and having fun with that. No trains yet. i don't know if that's my goal or not.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Good colour tones on the scenery. Very realistic Great train speeds as well
Thank you!
Very cool. I do N-gauge and Z-gauge ... and I'm thinking about making a small T-gauge layout next.
Thank you for the nice comment! I also have N and Z scales. Yes, give T Gauge a try - it’s fun and refreshing to try a new scale.
Nice job!
Thank you!
Impressive! How did they get the trains to run so smoothly?
Thank you.
Great layout. I would love to have one . I have money but not the space. Oops, I mean I have the space, not money.
Thank you!
Lovely, well done. Would be nice to see how the long trains traverse across those switches.
Thank you! I”ll have to send them through the switches in a future video.
Lovely ,aye. great job and it's not that different from where my wife and I live in Portsmouth UK. Tiny little terraced house with a train line at the bottom of our garden. I was telling my wife how tiny everything is. Each rail car is about the same size as my big toe nail lol. Put your GOD's hand in view for perspective. Anyway, looks amazing, well done indeed !
Thank you!
If the trains weren't running on a loop one could be fooled into thinking they are looking at full size trains, because the top-down view makes it look life-like.
Thank you.
Your layout is quite beautiful. You have definitely captured the British 'feel' with the squalid terrace houses right out of Monty Pythons sketch, "every sperm is sacred.😂 However, the wagons appear somewhat jerky and seem to derail easily. Would adding some weight improve this; possibly small fishing tackle lead beads? Also, is the track width proportional to the trains at that scale?
Thank you! I was having some trouble with the passenger train that derailed even prior to the video and found (or thought)it was due to two track joints not lining up correctly. Upon correcting this, the train ran good so I went ahead with the video, but as you saw, the train derailed again in the video. I need to run other trains over this spot now to see if it is the track still causing the problem or the train itself. The other two trains were fine. You’re right, maybe adding some weight will help. I know some cars (if not most) come weighted as purchased. I also have some that are solid bodied and can’t have weight added unless maybe they are drilled out from the bottom to make room for added weight. Overall though, what I have experienced on my T Gauge layouts is that derailments have usually happened because of track issues, couplers not lined up, and/or trucks attached too tight inhibiting free movement. Thanks again for watching!
Great layout. Lots of fun!
Thank you!
Wow !
Thank you.
That’s really cool! Greetings from Sweden👏
Hello, and thank you!
Very nice, it might be worth blending the road surface sections at the joints, but overall impressive. I am considering building topography using 3D printing (FDM type). What is the overall size of this layout?
Thank you! The layout is 2’ x 4’.
Love the videos Dave, I was wondering if you were gonna show a direct overhead of any of your layouts so a newer hobbist might be able to replicate the track layout for their own display? As some one who splits his time between the North Eastern Penn- North Western NewYork area, and the Savannah Georgia area I love seeing Penn state displays.
Thank you! I do have videos almost ready for release that have overhead views of this layout and also my T Gauge U.K. Layout - should be fairly soon.
Take the lid off of a small box with support arms and attach it hinge side down to the side of the layout. Then when you want to use it as a shelf fold it down. Make sure that it has 2 support arms. Just a thought. It could be built but finding a small box in a hobby store or online would save time and probably be cheaper than the materials. You could get jewelry box support arms, a small piano hinge, and a small piece of plywood. Amazon for everything but the plywood. Then again Amazon has hobby wood that may work. I only suggested Amazon because time and cost over running to different stores. A fold down shelf that stops when level seems better than a detachable shelf. With sides on the shelf done to the right dimensions it would fold up against the layout with no air gaps. A small hook and loop to hold in place could also be installed so it doesn’t fall down when not in use or moving the layout. Just an idea to get the brain gears moving in a different direction.
Thank you! Always good to get different ideas!
Great idea ❤
Thank you!
Trains are moving abit too fast for the scale.
You’re right, they are moving quite fast. I’ve slowed them significantly in the video after this one (U.K. Video 3). Thanks for watching!
Nice! Amazing and ingenious custom work and detailing. May I suggest for your next build that you can use hiddenly reinforced barns, water towers, or transmission towers as finger hold points to lift tunnel cover sections straight up.
Thank you! Yes, your ideas for finger hold points would be helpful to lift up the tunnel section.
Dave, wish I could get out there to see all your projects. ANT
Thanks Ant, I wish you could too!
I like it goobs. I live in a small apartment so thinking of Tscale as my learner layout.
Thank you. Yes, you can fit a lot of railroad in a small space with T gauge. This, as well as my other T gauge layouts are only 2’x4’.
Nice train!
Thank you!
This is absolutely stunning. So much detail for such a small scale, and you've captured some of the UK countryside perfectly
Thank you for the nice comment! If you are interested in seeing this layout as it progressed to a more finished state, please look at the (part 3) video. Thanks again.
Fantastic layout , you really have caught the British Countryside , well done.
Thank you!
Hi very nice😊
Thanks!
As a Brit ,i think you,ve done a great job of replicating the countryside. I heard some American tourists one day on the train from Stratford upon Avon ,they were fascinated by looking out of the window at how many sheep were about looking like cotton wool.😂.
Thank you for the nice comment! Some of those sheep appear in a field in the next video….(T Gauge Model Train Layout Set in the U.K. Part 3). Thanks for watching.
have you visited the UK before? you've done an excellent job capturing the landscape and town
I have not visited the UK yet, but it is on my travel list. Thank you for the nice comment!
@@daveb.trains7019 no worries! i work for a company called scalemodelscenery and i do the newsletter video section each week, going to feature your video in it :)
Hi Sam, I checked out the Scalemodelscenery website and was impressed with the quality items available and the website itself - very interesting! I look forward to you featuring my video and thanks again for watching! Dave B.
Does the t-gauge only have that one speed, fast!? Can you slow in down any?
Hi, yes the trains will go slower. I slowed them down on the U.K. Video after this one (part 3). Thanks for watching!
Great details! Love seeing US railways being modeled in T
Thank you!
Hi babe good job
Thanks!
Great job hun
Thanks!
Beautiful work. Definitely wins a contest here for T Scale!
Thank you!
Fine job on there! TGauge is so tiny I don't think anyone will really notice any discrepancies. 🙂
Thanks, that’s what I’m thinking too, especially from a “normal” viewing distance.
enjoying your vids, thanks :)
Thank you!
Wow great job hubby dave
Thank you!
Sweet job
Thank you!
Amazing layout! Love the big open scenery. Made practically possible with such a small scale!
Thank you!
Tomo nota de tu técnica para mis maquetas, muy buen trabajo. Un saludo
Thank you!
Love your layout. Each area has its own story and so much detail. Brilliant. Liked and Subbed! Cheers, Andy
Thank you for the nice comment and subscribing, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! More to come soon.
I wonder if the Copenhagen Fields N guage London Model Railway Club layout members have any ideas for using this scale for any future projects. This Copenhagen Fields N guage layout is a master of reduced scale in the background to make a model railway look a lot bigger than it is. Look it up if you haven't seen it.
I just watched a video of the Copenhagen Fields layout you suggested. Wow, it is a work of art - very realistic!
Why don't you build a train around a ski resort?
That’s a future possibility.
Did you create this with a magnifying glas. Unbelievable stuff. Cheers Jef
Sometimes I needed a magnifying glass. Thanks for the comment!
@@daveb.trains7019 I would have to have new eyes inserted from an Eagle. 😂😂😂 Lots of fun with this amazing layout.
Did anyone here me yell; dont touch the water with your bare finger!! Its ruined, thanks shines gone now... im kidding but you know what i mean. You are a great 3d artest, thank you
Thank you for the nice comment!
Where did you get the background?
Scalology/Modelmasters websites. The shipping package has both Scalology and Modelmasters names on but I think it was ordered through Scalology. They both have websites. Thanks for watching!
what radius track have you used for these trains. thx
Hi, I used 3 different radii available through T Gauge.com; 132.5mm, 145mm, and 157.5mm. I used the larger 2 radii as much as possible because I liked the look of the less severe curves. Also, some of the curves have transition from a larger radius to a sharper radius.
appreciate the replies, look forward to updates@@daveb.trains7019
hi great layout how is two trains running? I`m new to dc / dcc. Ah I see in the comments you have answered this and look forward to any videos on switching, power, points etc. Appreciate the work and channel :)
Thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoy the videos! I am planning to do a video (hopefully soon) that will show the track plan along with the trains running through the switches/points.
You should get into 3D printing make your own stuff
Good idea!
Beautiful! 🤩
Thank you!
This is a really nice looking layout and probably the cleanest I've seen T Gauge run
Thank you!
Your layout answered a basic question I had... how many cars can a T-Gauge engine pull? I counted eight. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! The 8 unit red and white passenger train actually has three powered units - a locomotive on each end and a third powered unit disguised as a passenger car near the middle. If you watch my part 3 video of this layout you will see a freight train with 2 powered engines up front and a powered unit about midways disguised as a tan freight car. This train is pulling 16 unpowered cars. I’m not sure exactly how many cars 1 engine can pull effectively (may depend on track grade also)- for example, the 2 freight engines weren’t quite enough to pull the 16 cars smoothly and up the few grades on the layout, but once the third unit was added it all worked well.
