I'm 14 years old and have created this channel to promote my singing. I love a variety of music from stage musicals, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran and Josh Groban. I went to my music teacher Vicky Newman-Cornford to learn piano and guitar and she has also taught me to sing. I have only just began singing with the Midway Band. Previous to them I have been busking at Eaton Fair Shopping centre. I would be happy to sing at any events. Please contact my dad Rhys Standley on 0447 251 111 or email him on rhysstandley@gmail.com.

John...You have grown a lot, and colored your hair! :o) I almost didn't recognize you, but your stellar voice is better than ever.
Nice to see you again. I was a fan last year, but you ghosted me. Hope you're doing well and performing at the club or better.
So much talent 😄
Wow! Amazing John!! ❤
Potential.
Nice Cover of that great Classic Song! 🎼🎤🔥👍🏻⭐️
Thanks John, This Ben E King Classic from 1961 is a favourite of mine. You certainly did this number justice, I think Ben E King would have approved.
Amazing John.! Tha k you for sharing this .
Another Excellent Performance John. You certainly kept this audience entertained. I think it is not just your voice that is improving but also your confidence. Your stage presence is also showing a building in confidence. You didn't answer the question I posed on the Cruise Ship Karaoke video. The audience were calling for you to sing another song and the host agreed that you should sing again at the end. If you did give them another number what did you sing?
So so so amazing. You are brave having him sing with all that glass around. One really high note and it could all shatter😂 ❤️
Really John, What can I say? You know that I have followed your UA-cam Channel since you launched it and I have watched your performances emerge from your very good renditions before your voice broke, into the "Graceful Swan" that glides through the "waters" of musical genius - quite literally. I have drawn your attention to the fact that white socks should not be worn with Evening Dress, particularly with your glittery stage suits but judging from the way that you appear to be growing, they may not fit you for much longer. I had been missing your posts on YT because we haven' seen you for some time. You really are a tremendous singer John I really can't get enough of your videos - MORE PLEASE. Well Done. What did you sing when you did your encore at the end of the Karaoke competition? If it was recorded, do post it o YT. You are a quite remarkable young man, your parents must be very proud of you.
Well done one of my favourite songs you sing
Absolutely beautiful. John gets better everytime I hear him sing ❤
Thank you so much!!
Well Done John and a very happy 15th Birthday from those of us who watch you from way over in the United Kingdom. Of course, you have other versions of "O Holy Night" on your YT Channel but I think all the others were made before your voice broke. This version is the more adult baritone version but it shows that you can still hit those high notes and hold them. The audience obviously appreciated it towards the end when you really did get up there. Really loved watching and listening to you. You really ought to post more often.
Thanks John, A great pity that the video didn't come in until part way through the song. I would have loved to heard the whole thing. New stage suit I see, looks good and you seem to increase in confidence with each new posting. Well Done !!
Hey BT! Nice comment. :o) I never got a reply on my comment in the previous vid, which is frustrating as I specifically mentioned how important it is to respond to people who take the time and thought to leave one, especially like the ones you leave. So I'll let you carry the torch, Bob! BuhBye JS.😐
Oh how I wish I was 14 again. You have a great future my friend

Wow, what a pro!
Well done John you’re amazing 🤩
Well-done, John! A great opportunity for you to get some major exposure. I concur with Jonelle that it's a good idea to try out for "The Voice". As always, Bob's comments are spot -on! Be Well! 😀
Another awesome performance John. Up n up! ❤❤❤
You did an Amazing Job and they’re right you are Already a Superstar ⭐️🎤 I definitely think you should try out for The Voice 2024 you’d definitely get a Four Chair Turn, you’ve got Talent in Abundance John ⭐️🎤💕🫶🫶
Thanks Jenelle. You are too kind.
Well Done John, A TV career is obviously waiting for you. Even if TV is not ready for you just yet, an appearance on the Channel 7 Telethon should certainly put you in greater demand for functions on the Club circuit, earning you a bit of pocket money, before you become a worldwide star. It may have been how the video production appeared on my screen but it looked as if you could have been lip syncing. I would be happy if you told me you weren't.
No lip sinking out there. It was live tv and I loved it so much. Thanks Bob for your follow ship.
@@johnstandleymusic Thanks John, I am really pleased that you weren't lip syncing but singing live. I think it must have been the way the video production came over on my screen. Great that you were asked to take part in the Telethon. I do hope some other introductions come from your appearance. Glad you enjoyed the experience, you should do, you are a very talented young man and your talents should be shared with others. Many Thanks for posting this.
Well-said, as usual, Bob. 😀 I never did get a comment from JS 😮💨
☝️ Promo-SM
Hey John, I believe this is your best performance yet, especially with the respectful background silence that you deserve. I agree with Bob that your voice is getting more powerful, although I do believe that your breath control on the second to the last notes was stellar. :o) BTW, not just for me, but if you want people to leave you meaningful comments, it behooves you to comment back, otherwise how do they/we know you've even read them (no a ❤ is not enough) 😀.
Thank You John, And extremely well done. This is a favourite of mine from Jekyll & Hyde. I am convinced that your voice is getting more powerful and you are managing to hold those final notes, albeit with an extra breath just before delivery but that is fine, that is how it is done. A Musical Theatre Boy Band called "Collabro" won the Britain's Got Talent TV show in 2014. They have a couple of videos on UA-cam, singing this number. It is worth a look and listen. They have some incredible harmonies. This was Great John and I love the new Stage Suit.
So Bob, what do you think about my comment "...if you want people to leave you meaningful comments, it behooves you to comment back, otherwise how do they/we know you've even read them (no a ❤is not enough) 😀."
@@KnowOneKnows Hi Ben, Yes, I do agree. It would be good if John did come back with some comments; acknowledging, agreeing, disagreeing, there are only a few of us who leave comments and we have broad shoulders. If John disagrees with anything we say, we are quite happy to receive his responses. We are all pretty constructive and I will continue to leave comments but hopefully John will reply.
Hey Bob, Thanks for your response. "A word to the wise..." Regarding continuing to leave comments, there's only so far I'll go without knowing my input is read and responded to. Hopefully, you have very-broad shoulders. ;o) @@bobtoastmaster5442
Ok got you we’ll done 😊
Very nice rendition, John. You hit those notes perfectly. Awesome sparkly jacket too!
How did bro leave the Hornet nest 4 years too early.
Hey John, thanks for this posting! I'm glad that you had a good experience performing it! 😀 But, TBH, I just couldn't deal with the background noise. I think it was (Buddhist) chanting, but it was too distracting. It was like the Buddhist and Christian sing-off. :o) No fault of yours; you just did your best with what you had, and I give you major props for having the courage to give it a go!👏
When viewing the other other Vietnam video I commented that I couldn't wait to hear "Pointless" but "Some You Love" by Lewis Capaldi was equally acceptable. Another great performance John, many thanks and you certainly went down well with the crowds. What free entertainment the were getting.
REALLY TREMENDOUS JOHN, Many thanks for posting this. What a crowd and how well you entertained them. I am keen to view the other Ho Chi Minh City video of Lewis Capaldi's Pointless. Really loved this.
Epic
AWESOME!
Looks much different than when I was there. You sure do get to see the world. Enjoy your stay in SE Asia. Oh, and great job on Some One You Loved!
Great performance, as usual, John! Music IS the universal language, loved and understood all over the world. Most of the people probably didn't understand your words, but they still loved your singing. You gathered and held a huge crowd. It is of note that everyone was so polite and respectful of your singing. Too bad about the strange background noise. :o( Nice that they had the "Someone You Loved" song track available for you.. :o) .I hope you get to visit Thailand while you're in Southeast Asia> :o) Try the coconut milk soup (Tom Kha). Are you getting taller? :o) Oh, and about the socks....they don't match your very-formal suit. (LOL!)
Go John your such a great singer and cousin love you sooooo much🤩
Wow 👌
Keep going ....practise makes perfect
Thank You John, I couldn't agree more with @KnowOneKnows in the comments. I really do believe that your voice is settling down, after having broken, with the power to reach challenging notes. Many believe that Lewis Capaldi wrote the lyrics about a girlfriend but this is really about a Mother and Son relationship, which of course is very special. Listen carefully to the words. By the way, if that is your new stage suit, you don't need to wear black socks with it !!!??!! Well Done John, Loved this, absolutely more please.
Hey Bob, Thanks for the props! :o) Hope you don't mind my teasing about the socks. :oP Thanks for the info on the meaning of the song; it makes it more relevant. :o)
Haha no this jumper is not what I wear at performances. I was just wearing my comfortable casual clothes at home. Thanks for your support everyone I really do appreciate it. I have bought some more suits with the money I have earned.
@@johnstandleymusic I know I'm looking forward to seeing you in your new suits. I guess your main gigs are at the Country Club; anything else coming up? :o) I'd love to see you try out for BGT! :o) Whaddya think, Bob?
@@KnowOneKnows No problem at all with your comments over John's socks. His stage suits are really great, can't wait to see the new attire. I really do agree that a "...........Got Talent" show, be that Australia or Britain or whatever, would be good. However, I do know, from my connections with a young talented pianist in the UK (Cole Lam see his YT channel) that the contracts that you have to sign are really tight and not what every talented person want to tie into. Cole and his Dad have already declined what at first view looks attractive.
@@bobtoastmaster5442 Hey Bob, Thanks for your response. I'd love to see John get wider exposure. What do you think about "The Voice" shows for John? Simon Scowl is not involved with them. Too bad, John is too old for "The Voice Kids" (the perils of old age ;o)] Thanks for the referral to Cole. I have had several exchanges with him. I am happy to see that Cole has "blossomed" into revealing his true love for other musical styles. I am sus that his father has had a strong influence on him, although Cole denies it.
Hey John, Very-nice! You have achieved good control in the lower register notes (been practicing it?) Your power in the chorus is really-good! The build up at :38 was well-done and the power at :50 was impressive! I like the level of the music; present, but not overpowering. Not sure what color socks were appropriate here, but I like the ones you chose. ;o) What inspired the jacket? Is it an ethnic design or ?
Excellent job John! It sounded awesome!
John Standley and The Grand Parents. Say bye to the grand-parents, John. Keep up with your singing lessons - you will be fine.
Not "Jailhouse Rock"..."John Standley Rock!" I believe Bob's sock advice is accurate, but IMHO, I doubt few, if any, people noticed the white socks. Then again, Bob's comment on the audience liking your performance is accurate. Bob's a great fan of yours. :o) Love the little kick at 2:02
Another number from well before your time John, Keep them coming. Very entertaining. (Don't forget the dark socks)
Back with your favourite Elvis again I see John, And why not, as it seems to be going down well with the audience. Regrettably, you have not stuck to my advice and chosen a sock colour that is more in keeping. That is a very smart stage suit. Black socks would be the normal colour of choice with a Dinner Jacket and Bow tie but dark blue would also be appropriate to wear with that suit. Once again, I loved this video, do keep posting more.
Thank You John, It looks to me as if a number of the people in that audience, are old enough to remember the original Chubby Checker "Let's Twist Again". Well Done, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves
I spoke too soon last night.
Nice job, John! it was funny watching that woman in front doing the twist to a song from 1957. Cubby Checker invented the twist in 1960.
Quiz question, Frank: who inspired Chubby Checker's name?
@@KnowOneKnows He was born Ernest Evans and it was his boss at the Produce Market, "Tony A.", who gave Evans the nickname "Chubby". Dick Clark's wife tabbed the name "checker" and he started using it.
@@frankpassero6229 All hail Google! :o) But my point was that she used "checker" as a play on the last name of rock & roll legend Fats Domino.
@@KnowOneKnows At this recording session Evans got his stage name from Clark's wife, who asked Evans what his name was. "Well," he replied, "my friends call me 'Chubby'." As he had just completed a Fats Domino impression, she smiled and said, "As in Checker?" That little play on words ("chubby" describing a degree of fatness and "checkers" being, like "dominoes," a tabletop game) got an instant laugh, and stuck: from then on, Evans would use the name "Chubby Checker".
@@frankpassero6229 Spot on, Frank. :o)
