Hello people! I am Charles Harriott.
My whole life the only thing that has never changed is my love and practice of Martial Arts. From a young boy, to breakdancing physics major, to software developer, Martial Arts was always part of my life.
At the age of 30, 8.5 years into a professional career I made a change: I left the office behind to embark on a journey making martial arts the main focus of my life. I had always traveled within Florida to train. Over the coming years the journeys got longer as I met more amazing people in the Jiu Jitsu community. In 2018 this allowed me to travel to 90+ schools in 26 countries.
After I got home I decided I wasn't done and have made this my life. I can't think of a better job, as a lifelong teacher there are few things that give me as much joy as watching students gain proficiency and fall in love with their Jiu Jitsu.

So just like that I have been offered a sponsorship by Xmartial. They found my UA-cam, liked it and reached out. I had never worn their gear and so they sent me some stuff to try. Here is me unpacking it. I actually wore the green set for the first time today here in London at Wave BJJ for open mat and absolutely loved it. So I am now going to be a partner so if you want the discount code drop ...

a short clip showing how to effortlessly sweep and leglock from a seated guard and half butterfly in nogi Jiu Jitsu. This was from the first time I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing people Bendy and Katie from King Kneebar in Las Vegas at the last ADCC. www.patreon.com/charlesharriott bjjfanatics.com/collections/dvd/fighter_charles-harriott #bjj #charlesharriottjiujitsu #charlesharriott #...

Am I the problem or is it so hard to remember?
Beautiful advice
Great drill! I was actually just thinking of something fairly similar conceptually. Great to see this!
Love how u say.. nothing scientific 😂❤
Happy you enjoyed it🤣
I find myself doing this with my instructor because I realize right when I’ve went past the point of saving myself but not against lower belts. What he is saying is great advise that I’m going to start heeding. Thx!
Happy to help
If they then start smashing you towards your head can you still tuck your head forward to roll on?
Thanks for the seminar!
Happy you liked it
i really like the details here, thank you. 0:55
Brillant
Thanks
Amazing. Could even do this as a defense to a standing single leg
Too many severe accidents with this one… not worth it
While I agree if done poorly, ie jumping into the side of the knee it can be very dangerous. However, if you look at capoeira and sambo they both do it without injury . If you look I put my rear leg into place first and put weight in my hand so that the takedown is done hitting the waist and back of the knee so that there is no impact on the lateral knee. This variant I have done for a long time with no injuries. Just my 2 cents
i like your teaching style
Thanks feel free to shoot me a message and request a video.
thanks charles
Thanks for watching 😃
This is great. Thanks for sharing!

Don’t miss an opportunity to train with Charla Harriet. Excellent coach and one of the coolest people I’ve met.

my gym in new jersey , bodega jiu jitsu trains the ecological approach as well. I hope to this become the new style of teaching in the future, its only my third month of training , but the instincts I have currently show that its almost like ive been training for years when reality ive not. When i travel to other gyms and train at my university and go against people who are purple belts or even brown belts they are surprised that im able to wrestle them or pass them in ways they haven't seen before and even submit them a good amount of them. I really do hope this becomes the new style of training as it totally blows technique drilling out of the water which just gives you moves that you end up forgetting.
I follow them on Instagram and would love to visit some time. I can't claim to be any expert at the ecological approach. I teach in many ways enjoy letting people discover and work with progressive resistance and constraints. So I think it's really about having the right teaching tool for the right time and task. I definitely had a bit of prescriptive instructions towards the end.
Awesome
Thanks
This is awesome instruction. I’m really trying to learn how to teach like this. Thank you
Thanks for taking the time to watch. Happy I could help.
Yay, a new video with Charles. Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom!

This elbow frame is amazing. Charles is a great teacher
Thanks let me know any success or struggles you run into.
Got to do a seminar with Rinaldo about a month ago. Lunch with him was a blast. Funny dude. Flew in, did a seminar, flew out.
There's definitely only one Rinaldo always with the jokes and stories. Happy you enjoyed the seminar with him.
Well said!! 🎉
Thanks man
charles you are one of my fav instructors i have been annoying my teammates with the elbow frame and dog leash you have also got me to invert, thinking i would never have the coordination to do so! cheers from the UK🇬🇧
Thanks so much for all the love. It has been my pleasure.
Hi I hope you're well and i hope you don't mind me messaging you? I read your comment about Charles Harriot.I like his videos and teaching also Priit and Chris Paines vids and teaching. I am from UK but living in the Philippines and learning Jiu-jitsu unfortunately no one has heard of those instructor's here or their methods. So may I ask, did you train using the video's on partners ? I'm thinking of joining Priit Mihkelson website but not sure ? Hope I was too intrusive but I was happy someone from the UK was on the same page as me. Mark
@@PhilDiaz-y7n hey man , no worries. I started just with the videos on the globetrotters channel and anything on youtube to study pretty much i.e. eduardo telles, priit, craig jones, charles & chris, etc. instructionals I study: unstoppable standups, inversion 101 and just stand up hope this helps
AWESOME!!!!
Thanks!! Try it on an unsuspecting training partner lol.
Lol "Butt Judo"
Wrestlers can wrestle up so I can butt judo 🤣
this is immensely great
Thanks man
I don't get why these instructors use women as their partner during these examples. And then talking about nuts. Like, bro -- use a dude as a partner.
Simply put, she is my partner and assistant, and a great one at that. She often assists by sharing what the technique feels like and how to be a better partner for it. I literally meant peanuts, chips, or any snack you can hold in your hand. Yes, the word 'nuts' got some giggles, which I appreciate because laughter aids in learning retention. If that offends you, then my style of teaching might not suit you. I use larger, stronger guys when I need to illustrate how something would work on a tall or heavy person, but for most things, I use Natasha. She is the person with whom I have taught the most, and teaching seminars with her is a pleasure. I hope this clarifies why I have a female uke in my seminars. I can't speak for anyone else.
Are women not allowed to hear the word nuts or something lmao
Smooth!
Thanks man
Amazing video Charles! Thank you
Thanks man
Love this,I have elbow frame vid and this is a nice addition to that
Happy you like it feel free to message me with any problems or successes

I love this! Thank you, Charles
You are so welcome!
fucking awesome!!!!!
Happy you liked it
Awesome video 😁
Thanks 😁
I want to improve my game with more of this Gahngam style.
Hands down the best, most straightforward tutorial I've seen. I was able to do a cartwheel almost immediately going through these steps.
Thanks so much. Happy to help
Pinoy pride 🤟
Good luck tryna keep your aggressor still in order for you to do this 💀 Boxing is the best thing you can learn, and that’s coming from a HARDCORE UFC Fan since I was a kid
Leglocks are a thing that sometimes work and sometimes don't. This technique has an application for when the opponent doesn't fall on the initial imanari and seeks to entangle both of their legs to bring them into a position where standing back up is difficult. Leg locks in striking situations will always be high risk but this video was made for a grappling match application. That being said I still think Dukaru and other backside 50 style pins are powerful in a striking context as illustrated by the Ryan Hall roll in the link I am providing. Have a good one. ua-cam.com/users/shortswBI8cJ_W9Vc?si=DOGy8LqmfCIfnfcq
