Obscene illegality and Risk to Life ! East Riding of Yorkshire Council's - "Dirty Little Secret"
Highway Code Rule 145 states:
You MUST NOT drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway except to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency.
Westgate is so narrow (as narrow as 4.7 Meters), it Cannot Legally Function, as it cannot accommodate large and wide vehicles which force drivers in to having no alternative than to drive on the pavement, not only is this illegal, it is a clear Risk to Life !
Despite it being an offence to drive on the pavement and an unacceptable danger to pedestrians, East Riding of Yorkshire Council refuse to take measures to prevent or reduce the pavements on Westgate being used as an extension of the carriageway, or restrict Westgate being used by large vehicles, infact East Riding of Yorkshire Council is actively increasing vehicle numbers through Westgate (which will result in yet further increases of the occurence of vehicles having to be driven on the pavement) in East Riding of Yorkshire Council 's relentless approving of further housing and caravan/holiday sites.
To add insult to injury, East Riding of Yorkshire Council had the nerve to reclassify this road, the former "B1244" (which Westgate is a part) to an "A Road" when it had no right to do so as it does not meet clearly laid out Central Government Road Reclassificaton Criteria.

Vehicles have struck the bollards erected outside this house numerous times prior to these crashes. This road was reclasified to an "A Road" by East Riding Council even though this road has seen no upgrades, it remains the narrow bendy "B Road" it always was, and there...

Local-Transport-Projects (LTP) undertook a Transport Assessment (TA) for a proposed housing development in Hornsea on behalf of Keepmoat Homes, but despite the fact that Westgate in Hornsea is so narrow (as narrow as 4.5 metres) that it cannot LEGALLY or SAFELY function, LTP which describes itself as "Expert solutions for the highway environment" made absolutely no mention of this vital and cri...
