Stuck fan clutch?
2006 Trailblazer with a possibly stuck fan clutch. It was roaring like a jet engine. I reved it to about 2200rpm for a minute and the clutch finally let loose.

      @coffeefish so what am asking is. What size of fuel lines did you use to replace the rusted ones that were leaking, I have the same leak from the same spot yours was leaking from. Am going to attempt to make some i just need the size for the supply, return, and evaporation that you used. What brand did you use and material?

    If you live where it's cold this isnt going to be the fix. The channels that flow coolant are supposed to inhibit heat so in the winter you wont crack that super fragile 500 dollar piece of garbage they call a tbi unit. This is literally the only drawback to my z24 first gen d21 (86-90ish) and that CAN be done in southern Florida no doubt. But if you had actual cold starts youd basically be handing that tb unit an asswhooping. Anyone below the Mason dixon probably has this to their advantage. But I do live where it gets cold and this more than likely wouldnt work worth a fuck in the winter where I'm at. I'm 100 miles away from death valley and I'll see 110 all summer and 20 degrees all winter. Glad it worked for you tho. Lucky guy

    Never was a fan for clutch fans. I am a fan for electrical (temperature controlled) fans. That fan is stuck, and I suspect your vortec will not be happy especially in the winter like that. If you just bought it, return it for another. If still the same result, go to a electric fan.

      I just put a bunch of money into it. New battery, idler puller, water pump, fan, serpentine belt, a couple transmission lines, gallons of Dexron6 and also some Dexcool. Not looking forward to buying any more parts. A guy on gmtnation suggested that I rev it to about 2200 for a minute. I did that and the clutch released. If I changedto a thermo clutch, it would mess up the computer.

    LOL just gets in the truck and starts cranking! You just turn the key on and off a few times first to run the fuel pump to fill the line up before you crank lol. I was told you are only suppose to run a foot maximum of rubber fuel line, rest should be steel. If you noticed all factory rubber fuel line on your nissan was in areas that are protected, such as the engine bay or on top of tank. Thats why rubber is ok there. I know you just wanted a quick easy fix, but just keep an eye on that line and try and protect it under your truck from rocks and such. Love my nissan!

      +TheMrRuger I'll wrap this series up with part 3. So far the repair looks good. All the lines are replaced from the tank to the throttle body. What could go wrong, right? The pressure regulator is probably due to be replaced, but right now it's a new pump, new lines, and new injectors. Something is still wrong with the truck, but not sure what. I might check the timing soon, but I don't really want to buy a timing light.

  • @piewolfe
    @piewolfe 9 років тому

    You might have to lift off the bed to get leaky section repaired. If the area was thoroughly dry, the leak could be narrowed down if you watched the area while someone turned the key fuel pump on. Wear eye protection, gasoline burns. I've seen hard fuel lines rubbed through where the frame contacts them and in some cases where a rubber line crosses them. Sand/grit cuts the steel and the rubber is uneffected. A flaring tool and a few fittings could make a lasting repair.

    • @coffeefish
      @coffeefish 9 років тому

      +piewolfe Wow! If I have to pull the bed, this will turn into a major restoration project. :) Not sure if I'm ready for that right now. Would have to locate many new parts first. :)

    • @piewolfe
      @piewolfe 9 років тому

      +coffeefish The camper does make it extra work. I took of my f350 bed myself (8 bolts) but had help putting it back on. It might not be necessary, depends on where you find the leak and how accessible it is. Fuel hose line and clamps might work if you cut out the hole section. Good Luck.

  • @TheMrRuger

    • @coffeefish
      @coffeefish 9 років тому

      +TheMrRuger Yo! You're right about that. Just checked on the truck 2 minutes ago, and the leaking has stopped. Shit, I hope it's not the tank because I'm just not in the mood to replace it right now. My theory is this; the lines were disconnected, and the leak stopped, so it must have been a bad line. If it was the tank, it would still be dripping. Who knows. The plan right now is cobble together a couple new fuel lines and then see what happens.

    • @coffeefish

  • @iceman22st
    @iceman22st 9 років тому

    had one of those lines leak on my sons hard body. you need to determine if it's the pressure or return line. I blocked off the return under the hood and briefly turned the key. lots of gas, pressure line. none, return. My sons was the return. (more on that in a second) then I traced the one it was to both ends where it disappeared at both ends, cut and replaced the entire hidden length with a proper strength and sized rubber hose, pulling it through and leaving the dead line in place. Now, 5 months later, the other one blew, and being the pressure line almost burned the truck down as he was driving to work. I'd change both.the same way. the WD40 straw needs to be all the way up or all the way down. you had it not quite down. you can spray with it up for general lubricating without the precision of the straw. it's made to do that good luck.

    • @coffeefish
      @coffeefish 9 років тому

      +iceman22st I've tried that WD-40 nozzle in every configuration. Maybe I got a bad one, I think I pulled it off a discount rack. What kind of high pressure line would you suggest? I'm planning to replace both the supply and the return, no need to track down the exact location of the leak, like you said, all the lines are probably due for replacement. Best case, I can find all the right line at my local parts store.

    • @iceman22st
      @iceman22st 9 років тому

      Find out what pressure the pump puts out (I don't recall) and buy fuel injection hose with a PSI rating higher than it needs. Regular gas line for the return. Most parts stores will sell the line by the foot. I double clamped each end of the pressure hose too, and good clamps, not dollar store ones.

      +Rusty “rustyglovebox” Glovebox Buster was just waking up when I sprung the truck ride idea on him. Took a minute to register. The boat was stored, leaning against the house, and the bottom soaked up too much sun. The plastic probably became brittle. Other than that, the hull cracked under the weight of the occupant. The cracks are right under the feet of the kayak's seat.
