I made a gift for Inheritance Machining...
But what could it be? 👀
It's Christmas! And you know what that means? Gifts!
This time, I decided to make something rather special for my good friend Brandon of @InheritanceMachining . Stick around 'till the end to find out his thoughts. 😉

TITANIUM DAMASCUS! | Engineer Raised In Kingston
Переглядів 4,4 тис.Місяць тому
Inspired by @AlecSteele , I decided to join the cool kid's club and make something out of Titanium Damascus. Join me in finding out just how well that went! Featuring even more questionable humour, audio and visual gags, as well as a cameo from @InheritanceMachining , as well as a returning feature of my good friend Tim(Lotus Dub) doing some more incredible music! Liked what you saw? How about ...
The thing about chamfers... #ChamferIt | Engineer Raised In Kingston

So, we meet again! Chamfers are great. So great, in fact, that @InheritanceMachining effectively turned it into a feature of his channel. Well, I figured I'd share my appreciation of them with you! Special thanks to my friend Tim(Lotusdub) for the awesome soundtrack at the end. #ChamferIt #hobbymachining #EngineerRaisedInKingston Anodising by Recreational Machinist ua-cam.com/video/L2RKze7baJw/...
Dead-Blow Hammer Build | Engineer Raised In Kingston
Переглядів 2,3 тис.7 місяців тому
Hello once more! What's a UA-cam machining channel without a hammer building video? My thoughts exactly. Join me on a journey of making what is essentially a rite of passage for any machinist, but with a twist! In addition to this, there are also a few goodies for @rockupracing 😉 As promised, this time featuring at least 50% more terrible humour as well as better lighting! #machining #engineeri...
Milling Machine Vice Stop Build | Engineer Raised In Kingston
Переглядів 3 тис.9 місяців тому
Hello there! Welcome to my channel. I'm Erik, or Engineer Raised In Kingston. Whichever you prefer. I don't mind. Among an untold amount of machining projects, this one has been the focus of my attention for quite some time. So much so, that I decided to share my journey with the internet. A vice stop(or vise, depending on your location) is a very useful addition to any vice, especially one tha...
"Not everything needs a chamfer." So war it is then 🤣
I mean... He's mostly right.. 😁
Brilliant! Although it's sketchy as all hell, I'd totally stick my finger in the spinny mandrel of death to make rings like this. In fact, I think you might have inspired me to give it a go...
Do it! It's a really satisfying project, and you get something you can wear out of it! ...just don't get your fingers caught in the spinny mandrel of death 😁
#chamferit
The most labour intensive and complex keyring you could build - I love it 😁
Plus I get to spread chamfer awareness on a daily basis 😁 Thanks for watching!
For reasons I don't quite understand, it's taken until 2025 for the UA-cam algorithm to point me at your channel despite my voracious consumption of machining content and (certainly in comparison to some of your illustrious commenters, at least) my geographical proximity. I enjoyed this video very much indeed, look forward to exploring the rest of your films and hope to learn a thing or two! Charlotte
I'm so glad to have you here, Charlotte! Very happy to hear that you enjoyed it! More videos coming soon 😊
What an amazing idea and perfect present. Really well made with great attention to detail
I LOVE your content!! Like totally binged what you've uploaded! Have one thing I've noticed that would be curious what others think (alongside yourself). The Audio mix you use tends to have your voice quite a bit quieter than a lot of the other sounds and even with headphones it can be on the quiet side, compensated by upping the volume, but then making the other sounds too loud... might be worth upping the gain on the voice channel by a couple of dB? How that might be done depends on the editing tools used of course 😀
Thank you so much! My main goal is to make content that people can binge watch, so I'm super glad that this worked! Regarding audio - you're absolutely right, and this has been pointed out to me previously. I'm no audio engineer by any stretch of imagination, and editing is still very new to me, so I'm definitely going to work on improving this part! Thanks so much for the feedback, I truly appreciate it.
Pleased to subscribe. Best wishes for continued growth of this channel. Looking forward to future videos.
someday, I will be good enough to be able to stand in the presence of men like you and Brandon. Awesome work, and merry christmas!
You're far too kind 😁 Thanks so much for the kind words.
New to your channel and discovered by chance - I get the feeling that your sub count will start to go exponential very soon..
Here's to hoping!
The editing is top notch. I love these videos
I'm so glad the algorithm found this for me - instant subscribe.
That was superb. Happy new year
Great to watch. A lovely style and very well produced video. Thanks.
That is so amazing how the temper is such different colors in the metal. I look forward to seeing what els you have in mind.
I absolutely love working with titanium for this exact reason. It's undoubtedly my favourite material for this exact reason, and that's before you take into account the incredible material properties.
Your channel was a UA-cam recommendation, I've been watching AVE, Click Spring, This Old Tony and InheritanceMachining every time they post something, You are on that list as well now! Fantastic content!
So glad to have you here! You've definitely listed a few of my favourites there 😁
Loved it. A cross between ClickSpring and ToT. Thank you.
I’m a student ventriloquist, so I’m not sure how I ended up watching lathe videos. But I greatly enjoyed this one and hope to add you to my IM/BH/TOT/NAE et all rotation! Great work ❤
How in the heck did you get that to go with the music. Very Impressed. Must have been a lot of editing. Thank you.
It certainly was 🥲 but I'm really happy with the result. Definitely going to incorporate more music in the future videos.
@@EngineerRaisedInKingston I think only Christmas music works.
Oh wow, mad scientist at work @7:20 mark.
It sure feels that way sometimes 😁
Only at 2 minutes and I like this already. New Sub.
Loved this!! Now a subscriber after finding you today on UA-cam
Cracking video, ta bud, my own tag line "lube, because that's what separates us from the animals" maybe leads us to another type of video 😂
😂 That's brilliant
Either you've got Andre the Giant's hands, or you're working with some small bench top tools making big parts. Either way, I'm here for it. Inheritance Machining, ToT, Blondie Hacks, and AvE references. Can see where you get your inspiration.
I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations... 😂 You've got the inspirations spot on!
We need a workshop tour video next. I love seeing how people make small workshops work.
It could definitely happen! Although it would be a very short video 😁 My workshop is absolutely tiny.
I came for the gift for Brandon, I subscribed for Erik’s quality content. Nice to see that entertaining machinists aren’t all Yanks!
🥰 CUTE! 🎄
This video has the same feeling as Inheritance Machining when i first started watching at a couple thousand subscribers, i bet that you are going to 3nd 2025 with well over 100K subscribers
You're far too kind sir! Here's to hoping you're right!
Pleasure to watch 👏👏👏👏
Great video of a great project 👍 🇬🇧
Holy sh.. I am not worthy! Mr Recreational - you're singlehandedly the biggest influence to me doing anodising at all. I've watched your video on it countless times. Thank you so much!
@@EngineerRaisedInKingston Your anodising looks great! Which dye did you use?
I used Gateros Plating dye. I’ve been very impressed with it so far, and it’s really inexpensive too, plus they have a good selection of colours.
That was very delightful. Merry Christmas.
Fantastic, love the content and production, found my way here from tweeds garage and inheritance machining via cutting edge, having got back into bikes after a 20yr gap with a couple 70yr old bikes I now have a strong urge for lathe and mill 😂
Be careful.. That's how it starts.. 😂
Much like a lot of people in the comments here, I showed up because I saw Inheritance Machining in the title. I've not finished watching the video - in fact, I'm only about two and a half minutes in - but I wanted to take the time to thank you for having subtitles. Because I have severe hearing impairment, a video having subtitles (and not automatic CC, because somehow, that's *still* garbage after all this time) makes it possible for me to ACTUALLY watch it, and so few maker / machinist channels do (edited to add that Inheritance Machining is one of the ones that does). So, again, THANK YOU. Those subtitles make a difference.
I'm so happy to know this, and I'm extremely happy to have you here! It was Brandon's suggestion to have proper subtitles, and I'm so glad that I included them!
I'm also here from IM. I loved the lathe work playing the Christmas music, very nice touch. Subbed!
Listen, I'm not saying This Old Tony has messed with the temporal settings on his lathe so much that the multiverse has spawned a British doppelganger but...
Some strange did start happening when I borrowed Tony's chuck swap attachment... 🤔
what band lathe is that??
It's an Axminster SC4(A version of the Sieg SC4 lathe, but in a different colour)
Absolutely wonderful content, sir, Best of everything in the New Year. Never thought I'd see a This Old Tony with such a different accent, but you can break steel bare-handed just like him.
I'm not quite at Tony's level just yet - I have to settle for brass 😁 Thank you so much!
Beautiful work. Good Friend !
Now you need a smaller diorama to go inside the diorama.
Now there's a thought... 🤔
Thank you to Inhertance Machining for recommend this chanel. I like it a lot, how the video is made. Subscribed.
machining youtube is a favorite niche of mine, and this just scratches all those itches for me
So glad to hear it!
