LMTV CTIS DOES NOT INFLATE OR DEFLATES TIRES (PART 1)
Переглядів 9452 роки тому
This is a video of myself trying to explain how the ctis system works. I hope it helps some other 91B’s out there. I’m not the best at public speaking, so if you have any questions or comments feel free to ask. If you want to see an explanation of another system please comment as well. Let’s make maintenance great again!

Thank you for this two part video. I learned a lot from you, and now I feel confident to diagnose my issue. Cheers

Another possible cause would be not getting a good ground to the ECU, since it feeds both the front, and rear axles. I have the same problem as you, if I disconnect the CTIS computer the one tire that leaks out will hold air for weeks. sometimes the 5 lights on the CTIS computer will all flash, I disconnect the Cannon Plug while running, then plug it back in, and that will sometimes clear the flashing lights. Anyways if I disconnect the CTIS just after I shut it down the tire holds air, another thing I have tried is disconnect the Banjo bolt on the wheel to the axle, and that will hold air through the wheel valve. I will try the GND wire tonight, and see if it makes any difference.

Got a truck contestant inflating and deflating. It will inflate the front and deflate the rears. Then inflate rears and deflate fronts. CTIS blinks normal slow green. Had a new pressure switch in the cab. Tires eventually got flat. But will hold air when you turn the CTIS off.

I’m a crusty old E-6 that has been around long enough to know the people that write TM’s don’t know a piston head from their sister’s titty. Keep fight the good fight man. 👍🏻

can you think of a reason why one tire would deflate after applying air to the tires with CTIS? I changed the wheel valve... but it still did it. holds air until I use CTIS

Was your issue when your truck is off or on ?

off. CTIS deflates the tires by pushing 5psi through the lines to open the wheel valves and deflate the tires, if a line is clogged it won't depressurize fast enough after inflating and the valve stays open @@miguelcamba6392

Currently having an issue with the middle purge valve always staying open and deflating all the tires. It seems to be in good shape...any suggestions on what/how to check?

First and easiest thing I would check are the hubs. With the fill plug facing up, take it out and feel if air is coming out of the fill hole, as well as check the quality of the oil to see if the hubs are overdue for service. Either condition would indicate leaking hub seals. If that checks out begin looking for blockages/leaks in the air lines and diaphragm valve on the wheels themselves, and the lines coming from the purge to the axles. You can check for blockages by simply pulling the lines off and blowing compressed air through them. Then if all that checks out the purge valve itself could be worn out, but first start your checks outwards and work your way in… Hope this helps. Good luck.

@@johnanderson2346 I found it. Apparently the new tires didn't come with banjo bolts, just regular ones. The new guy put them on but didn't notice the banjos.
