Thank you for this practice.
You're so welcome!
Found this as I was checking in with myself and wondering what it is I am running from or avoiding. Great short and will look for a longer one. 🙏
Thanks! I’m happy it was helpful. 🙏🏼
So helpful and practical. As always thank you for the insights! One comment: I am deeply connected to my own mother who certainly was a good example of someone with a natural, instinctive flow of compassion toward her children. But I also know many people who did not have this experience with their mothers. So I think that the reference to a mother as a prime example of compassion can create story in the mind which in a way is a distraction. I wonder if it could be helpful to refer to a parent in general and the deep well they so often can feel for a child? Men have been conditioned to exile so many parts of themselves, specifically the vulnerable and compassionate parts, so I share this as an aspiration to create more space for compassion and kindness in all of us.
Thanks very much 🙏🏼
Hello Scott and thank you for your compassion and wisdom! I have been really "leaning "on your instruction for a while now. It really helps one to grow in their own practice. Your instruction has helped me so much. In turn has helped my family and so on. I enjoyed your podcast with Andrew Holechek as well. Again your wisdom and compassion reaches farther than you can imagine. 😊
Thanks so much for sharing this! I’m really happy to hear it’s been helping 🙏🏼 🥳
Thank u Namsel-la 🙏💔🙏
You’re most welcome 🙏🏼
Very helpful not only from a personal aspect of trauma but for what is occurring on our planet. The overwhelm can quickly drag us/me down. I would definitely be interested in more of this as events become more and more difficult and painful. 🙏
What an incredible practice of the handshake practice. It takes my IFS therapy much deeper. 🙏
That’s so good to hear 🙏🏼 I will definitely plan on offering more on this in the future!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I appreciate the connection between compassion and wisdom that you share as insight/knowledge (eyes) and action (legs). It makes me wonder about how both of those attributes also work together in protecting ourselves and others from being deceived in situations when we are being asked to give of ourselves, our time, our resources. Thank you for these ideas.
Definitely! There is the possibility for them to always work together (with practice) in all experiences and corners of life 🍃
Did Andrew answer the question of what is right view?? I don't think so - he went around and around in circles and I did not "get" what right view is from Andrew? Or did I miss it? 🌺 per the Buddha, I suspect, he had the first of the 8 Noble Paths be right view... so that means to me, to understand that this reality is man made and is not real. So to me, the right view would be to realize and experience direct that there is a different, real and awake experience resulting in a shift in view of reality that is much more fulfilling and less threatening and more satisfying to work with and more enjoyable than this present view of life that we all have. this man-made existence that we are attached to. 🌺
Not sure!? I would have to go back to listen 😂
Many, many thanks!
You’re most welcome!
Scott, thanks kindly for this teaching!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you

Very helpful. Thank you both so much.

How do I join a monastery I live in the states?
I recommend starting by finding a Buddhist lineage and community you connect well with. Than you can explore monasticism within that lineage.
Very nice!💗
Thank you! 😊
I am wondering about the long term with diagnoses of cPTSD and ASD1. I have worked with the moderate path for sometime and find the deeper path very difficult. Can you recommend a teacher who perhaps has been through deep trauma or something else that might be helpful? Thank you
Sure, have you read any of the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh?
@@scott_tusa , yes many thanks
@@scott_tusa , I think there are many beautiful teachings. However, I felt I needed something deeper, if that makes sense. Thanks
Sure, I highly recommend Tsoknyi Rinpoche. Check out the book Why We Meditate if you haven’t already.
@@scott_tusa , thanks so much. I have not read anything by him. 🙏
Thanks for touching on this subtlety here...
My pleasure!
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Scott. Having lead a very goal oriented life I’ve struggled with this constantly in my meditation practice. Your suggestion of intention/aspiration and returning to that as needed sounds very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🏼
Great topic!!
Thanks! 🙏🏼

Thanks for the meditation. Found you in Apple Podcasts

So much insight and generosity here. As always, I found it very helpful to listen to your talk. Sending you gratitude!
You’re most welcome! Please share if you can 🙏🏼
Very nice!

Really appreciate this topic! I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak about "home" quite in this way, which is refreshing. It's something I've contemplated a lot and I'm inspired to think about 'taking refuge' in a whole new way. Thanks! 🙏
🤩🤩🤩 really happy to hear that!
Thanks, Scott. This resonates and is a topic for me to ponder. There are terms for this in (Gaician) Spanish (morriña) and Portuguese/Cape Verdean saudade/sodade... These have always resonated with me, though I am a native speaker of English. I appreciate your practice and your generous sharing. I feel connected.
Thanks so much Elizabeth 🙏🏼 yes! I want to learn these words in other languages! Saudade is like a kind of longing, yes?
Yes... it does help! Great topic!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Scott

I always enjoy your talks Scott. The way you referenced FLUIDITY really resonated with me. This is a helpful and practical way for me to relate to the inevitable difficulties that will arise in my life. Thank you!
PS - I also love the image of a camera lens as a model for an open receptive mind!
Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏼
Happy to hear that resonated! 👍🏼🙏🏼
Scott, Thank you, your talk was very helpful. Merritt Ireland
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🏼
Thank you ! When we focus on the process rather than who we want to be one day yields better results than wishing to be someone than we are not . If this is what we want to be is not living in the present moments and overly wishing to be someone better more kind, more loving is like anxiety thinking pattern . This is my understanding 😊 .
👍🏼🙏🏼
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
By thinking we get more into thinking especially when some disturbing emotions comes up and I end up more fighting with my enemy in my head who is right who is wrong 😅 and it triggered more emotion and complicated . What practise do you suggest when I am so caught with my thinking instead of observing or BEING ? I am more doing ( thinking , changing , fixing etc ) than Being.
Any practice that cultivates awareness. Traditionally we call this shamatha or calm abiding meditation in Buddhism.
@scott_tusa Noted and Thank you
contraction is a reaction to suffering and it perpetually suffering . Yes , it sure does throughout the years I like to be control of certain things but this in control action in fact control me .May I know where I can find the teaching on how to open up gradually from you
There are many Buddhist teachings on this, as “opening up” is what happens as we journey on our path of learning, contemplating, and meditating. Maybe you can start by checking out my guided meditations on this channel. I also have more content at scotttusa.com 🙏🏼
@@scott_tusa Noted , Thanks 😊
Are you saying why worry about something which is not happening now but stay present what is happening now like sensation , breathe etc ?
Yes, and over time learning to be more present also with uncomfortable experiences as well that are happening right now.
Thank you🙏🙏. Yes..Commitment to the path and continuing in spite of repeated failures.
You are so welcome 🙏🏼
Judgement and got stuck vs being curious .Thank you!
Curiosity is so helpful on our path! 🙏🏼
Thank you🙏🙏
You're welcome 😊

Hi, this hit home to realize how my mind gets overwhelmed with a hunger to master something or do more, be a better person, more loving, supportive whatever. It's not that great! But to stop and drop. I can stop the momentum and cheer up on the spot with what I've learned so far. Thanks Scott for what you offer out. It is truly amazing to have these teachings.
Really happy to hear that this one hit home for you too! It’s amazing what happens when we let be.
Thanks Scott🙏🙏
My pleasure!
@scott_tusa In fairness , I didn't listen to the rest of the video. When I hear someone say to keep your eyes open or closed, it leaves too much room for ambiguity as a person is left guessing as to what "feels" most right to them. I have to say that after listening to the rest, the experience made more sense.
Cool. Happy to hear you gave it a second chance! 👍🏼🙏🏼
So, vague.
Can you say more? I thought Sharon gave us an excellent resource for settling down in such a short time! Of course, not all approaches/practices work for everyone, so perhaps this one didn’t speak to you so much. And that’s OK!
Thanks Scott. I think this will inspire one to start a day. That we can change by remembering Buddha. 🙏🙏
Absolutely!
