VHT is trash. It’s so picky. You have to really sand and prep properly and then clear coat well for it to work. Rustolem lense tint spray is much more forgiving. Since they were new heads we didn’t prep. Just gave it 10 little sprays all the way around. Let sit for 5 min. Repeat two more times or until desired smoke effect is achieved and then put 3 coats of clear to protect it. 👍 btw your lenses aren’t ruined all the way. Just gotta use acetone and then if the acetone damaged the lenses just sand with 2000 grit - 4000 and then clear coat. We’re gonna experiment with actual polish and buffing wheel. We have some lights we tinted a little too dark and are gonna try these techniques to save them.

@@evosolutionsllc.910 tried acetone to remove it and it caused the lenses to crack. Tried just spraying it on since they were new and then the other pair I tried a scuff pad so it would stick better but both ended up causing it to not go on right and then crack when removing it with acetone

@@bassemgirgis2199 I’m not sure if they updated it but the carbide should use a usb-a to micro usb cable. The usb a goes into the pc and micro usb into the amp.

@@bassemgirgis2199 if it’s not micro usb it’s mini usb. Grab an old phone charger plug. (That’s micro usb.) if it don’t fit it’s mini usb (garmin gps style plug)

It is secured to the hatch via riv nuts. We drilled holes and mounted the riv nuts and then threaded in the proper bolts. You can probably achieve the same effect with self tappers but we feel it’s a little bit more secure with the riv nuts. If you over torque a self tapper it will become loose. 👍

It’s a havis widebody 12.5” console with custom made brackets using havis’ original prints for it because they no longer make it. The console with floor plate and brackets is for sale. Email us if you’re interested.

Anytime! Most light heads from most manufacturers follow this similar set up for their wires. 👍

A set up like this would run around 15k in parts and labor depending on what else the customer would want on it because its name brand. The cost would be half if it was “off brand” like feniex and ram mounts. Brands like these are eager to prove themselves to be put in the “name brand” category and will offer quality products at a way lower price. This is one reason why we are a dealer for feniex. Prices for upfitting are way too expensive and safety out on the road should be an accessible option to ALL individuals who work from the roadway. Not just govt. as for what’s needed, a basic knowledge of interior parts/ electrical knowledge and all the tools you would find in a normal mechanics garage. I will say plastic trim pulling kits are a must when trying to pull stubborn plastic pieces without breaking them. 👍

@@thefoundationsblenderplace6778 the feniex hammer is the only self contained low frequency siren/speaker that can run by itself. Typical low frequency sirens are made to only listen for and then mimic the tones from an actual siren but the feniex hammer can run its own tones by itself.

@@thefoundationsblenderplace6778 a console? Not really. There would be a lot of custom metal fab that would need to be done in terms of welding and using a metal brake to bend some custom brackets. FHP has a bunch of mustangs and they don’t even bother putting consoles in. They just use handled controllers or remote faceplate controllers like this 21-slide controller that has a short backing to it and mount a bail bracket to the headliner or the console area. But mostly handheld siren controllers are the way to go if mounting in a smaller vehicle. Light brackets have ti be custom fab as well. The only vehicles that have “easy” bolt on parts made for them are police package vehicles and their retail counter parts.

Unlike feniex the amplifier is external. It’s not inside the howler speaker. It’s not even inside the cencom. It has a separate external amplifier that has to get tied to the cencom light siren controller. 👍

Sho-me/able 2 led flasher for the front. Sound off signal tail light flasher for the rear both on custom plug play wire harnesses.

Siren tones aren’t supposed to sound pretty. They are supposed to gain attention. Much like your imitation power call sirens, listening to a unique siren tone coming down the road when you’d typically expect the generic wail, yelp and priority gains better attention. This is why odd sounds like the power call is still a favorite and effective among fire departments. 👍

by that logic shuoldnt we all be using European sirens lol

@@flightstatic4662 they aren’t as effective being as there is just one tone. Just like light patterns, some are effective for long range and others are more effective at short range.

I agree. This is why the rotary dial is still popular. We used the 21 and slide for our demo vehicle because it could fit all the features on it. 😂 running the horn ring or having a rotary is still the best way to go 👍

Yea they are expensive. If you become a dealer you get special pricing though. On top of that You have to also consider as well, that govt goes to the lowest bidder. So most upfitters take hits sometimes just so they can say THEY were the ones that upfitted such and suchs cars. But yes. You might as well perfect the craft if you have the metal working tools and go for it. 1st in products (a division of 1075 emergency vehicles in northern nj) is doing just that with abs type plastics and is apparently doing it with much success. We use havis because their national HQ is 35 minutes away from us. But if the budget is tight we will do what other upfitters in south Jersey do and go to 1075. I say go for it. Our company is trying to do the same thing. Drive the cost of everything back down. Safety shouldn’t be outside everyone’s financial reach. Hell new Motorola uhf radios are anywhere from 5-10 thousand dollars. It’s nuts.

The euros need some updating. The uk has finally gone with whelen and it’s working to much success. We’ll be making a video soon explaining why there are so many different siren tones and per California training standards as to what tone works best at what distance and why. ✌️

Yep! But You have to use quality zip ties though So it never fails. For some grilles on these newer cars, upfitters have to use hot glue or a similar substance to hold them in place. I’ve seen many methods. If you want a true grille light with bracket placement on this model explorer you have to get something smaller like the T3/Q3 light head with L brackets and then use a 90 degree drill bit extension to screw the bracket backwards in place and then the light head so it’s recessed from the bumper. The downside is that it’s smaller so not as bright down range as the qsm.

Yea head and tails are a completely different story. Even then. Let’s say you had really bright heads and tails. A smoke would be fine. But everyone wants it as black as their paint AND have it bright and that’s not possible lol same with emergency lights.

@@evosolutionsllc.910 to me. I’m sleep the front door windows and of course front windshield stock and clear. Rear door windows and rear trunk window limousine tint. Well for trunk door window, maybe not too dark because I’d rather still have a good visible.

@@toyotabronythey upgraded the head and tails exclusively so they can be tinted and still be seen. They are trying to balance brightness with looks. It’s hard to do properly and for safety you always have to sacrifice one for the other. I don’t believe in headlight taillight tint. I don’t like putting emergency lights behind tint but that’s the way it is for undercover units and they need to respond accordingly given the fact the lighting power is now diminished.

Because they never had actual first responder experience running calls. Nor do they care to go out with these departments they serve and examine real life responses like we do. Departments waste sooooo much money trying to improve visibility with more lights when you can gain the same level of visibility if not more with the right pattern/light head placement. It may not look cool but where not here to be whack jobs. We are here to keep everyone safe. 👍

We couldn’t. We had 10 gauge which could go through the driver side grommet no problem but we also had a wire harness for the front lights and speakers. So we always try grommets first. If that doesn’t work we try our own hole in the fire wall. If that doesn’t work than our last resort is making a pass though behind the kick panel at the floor where there’s enough room. (Most pickups used to have their rear harness run into the cab like that)

It runs out the corner on the passenger side below the fire wall and runs up behind the pass. Fender following the factory harness.

It’s called ultimate hi-low on Whelen command. It’s a spin off of the old federal signal unitrol touchmaster delta siren. 👍

We were gonna make a custom shroud for it but at night it actually has a bit of visibility to it. These optics they make nowadays are crazy. 😅

This is called the Whelen Cencom Carbide system. They have a newer cheaper one called the Whelen Core system that produces the same tones and has added light control features and vehicle control features. 💪

@@evosolutionsllc.910 Yeah the are phasing out the carbide for the core as it has sync features. It's not a radical improvement so get a carbide on a killer deal!

Negative! All you need to do is play a little bit of Tetris with the bracket to fit in the slots in the gap of the bumper. 👍

@@evosolutionsllc.910 ok cause I checked earlier and the gap between the bumper and the painted section under the grill had like something in the back of the gap like to stop air or water from going through mins a raptor

@@MrMister1227it’s probably different on the raptor. You can cut if you need too. I believe go rhino made that suggestion in the instructions with the bar but on our XL we just had to shimmy it in place

Thank you! I agree 100% flash patterns make the difference! A lot of people in this industry don’t pay attention to how things look down range vs up close in the shop. I hate when I see a faint purple in the distance or just one solid color like you said because the pattern isn’t set for long range. Brightness is only part of the equation. There are patterns that are good for up close and others good for distance. Every pattern has an advantage. 💪

It comes with the vehicle specific bracket system for the 20-24 FPIU when you order the hammer. The only problem is that you have to use your own nuts and bolts to secure this piece on a retail model vs the interceptor. The interceptor has a cross brace that goes across the engine bay towards the back half of the bracket and you just utilize the existing bolt. 👍

Agitated you enough to comment which means I got your attention which means the tones did its job. Lights and sirens are about safety and getting people's attention. Not "looking cool" I can be a whacker all day but safety for first responders is more important. Anything weird and out of the ordinary grabs people's attention better. 👍

Yes sir. For installs like this we always leave enough extra harness to move the electronics board out of the way so the spare is still accessible even with the lights still running for safety. 👍

Tails and reverse use conventional wiring on the explorer. The only thing you can flash with the front is the fogs and low beams. The high beams are controlled via data wire. But the lows are still conventionally wired so you can tap into them. We installed a cutoff wire for night time operation.

We will be uploading an indepth video soon that explains that we changed the bulbs out for led. We do this to all vehicles that use a tail light flasher but have this strange half led and half halogen set up to their tail lights. 👍

They are both pretty much equally as loud. The difference is where you mount it. Some vehicle specific brackets place the rumbler or howler behind the front bumper where there is no room for the sound to escape. They do this with siren speakers as well which is why some departments mount their speakers to the push bar.

Depends where you are going to mount it. Your best bet is to order it through a 3rd party supplier like strobesnmore.com and have them give you just blank filler plates to box it off. You still need a bracket to bolt it down. If it's going in something like a crown Victoria or older dodge charger for example you will at least need to buy an old console off eBay and remove the vehicle specific brackets from it. That or bend and form your own. We managed to get havis to give us the original prints for the vehicle this went into and we made them up ourselves using the prints. 👍
