American Bass Kayak Series - Lake Perris BIGGIN!!
Fished the third stop of the American Bass Kayak Series at Lake Perris. I had high hopes going into this one since Lake Perris is my home lake. Didn't do as well as I had hoped but this biggin saved the day. She measured almost 21 inches and about 5 pounds. I was fishing out of my Hobie Pro Angler 14 360 with a MotorGuide Xi3 Kayak Trolling Motor mounted up front on the bow.

Kicking off the 2021 tournament season with the American Bass Association (ABA) Kayak Series at El Capitan Reservoir! It was nice to get out on the water and explore a new lake despite not doing so well in the tournament. The tournament was a kayak bass fishing derby - longest 5 fish over 12" wins. This was my first time trout fishing since I was a kid! Headed to Lake Gregory in Crestline, California and got skunked on day 1, but made some adjustments and hooked up with several rainbow trout the next day! Decided to keep the trout and cook them (also a first). All fish were caught on Berkley Power Nuggets, cheese scent on a Carolina Rig with varying leader lengths. Follow me on Instagram ...

Went kayak bass fishing for a few hours on Thanksgiving morning! Caught a couple of Largemouth Bass both from the bank and from my Hobie Pro Angler 14 Kayak. Both were caught on a drop shot. Motor Guide looks like the fresh water version…do you ever fish in salt water?
You gotta remember what everyone here is watching. “A” rig method is not considered a sportsmanlike. It’s banned in many tournaments. Tossing out multiple lures at once ? Really ? It’s not rock cod deep sea fishing.
How did you secure Anderson connector bolts or just screws
Wow sweet rig how’s the 360 drive still a lot of problems what’s your experience
In the 80's we could fish off the marina dock after 5pm. There is a giant flat out in front of the dock that comes up from 20' plus on all sides to roughly 8'-10' depending on water levels. I would always catch at least one bass on that flat and sometimes several.
Nice $20000 canoe !!!
What size eye screw is that for the live-scope bracket? Also, what kit did you use for the mod of the release pedal line, inserts, knobs?
cool vid man, hope to see you in puddingstone some day out there kayak fishing
That's a beauty! Lake Perris is a nice place to go kayak fishing, Anglers seem to have the best success on the backside of the island. Looks cold!
How shallow can you go with that trolling motor setup?
Do you remove the trolling motor during transport or is it sturdy enough to leave it on without damaging the kayak?
Why not buy a small boat? It would be cheaper and roomier
What’s up! Nice fish let’s get out there soon maybe do a little friendly challenge
Is the hobie pro angler 14 with a 360 drive is it good in saltwater or is the Old Town 136 autopilot better
It would be super-helpful to provide a link to the parts, like the thru-hull fittings or the part you used to allow the cord connected to the trolling motor to swivel... or at least what they are called. Having a hard time tracking them down.
Hey Jake, I was planning on taking out my kayak to Perris Lake next week for the first time. How stringent is the quagga mussel inspection? Thanks.
Thanks for the action Jake through the Lens. Just started yak fishing and Perris is on my list this year. How heavy/light of line do you use?
Hello, other than fishing license did you need anything else to go kayak fishing there?
How tf do u steer it
I stuck an Xi3 on the Bow of my Predator PDL last year. I am now addicted to that TM. However, mounting all that weight on the bow really affected the kayak's handling in adverse conditions. I am curious how the PA handles all that bow weight. Have you noticed changes in how it handles since the install?
Where to get the pieces to pull the lever part?
Finally tested this out. Kayak Fishing supplies did a great job. Thanks again for the recommendation.
at 3:09 where to get that?
this is a beautiful kayak and how its set up. But what is the part name for the cable coming out of the kayak floor for the trolling motor?
where did you get the clamp that was attached to the shaft of the trolling motor.
following this question also
Nice video. Are you using it in saltwater too? I noticed on their site the saltwater version is coming in 2022. Curious if you are using yours in saltwater anyway and how it is holding up.

Sweet set up man
I don’t understand why people buy a kayak and put a motor on it. Kayak paddles, exercise, solitude…all things to consider. Next week I’m buying a glider and putting an engine in it. Oh, wait,… that’s an airplane.
Nice setup ,where can I buy clamp for raising the motor
Jake, how did they accomplish running the pull cable for the xi3 release lever?
Can you show how the cable is ran through the hull for the cord that locks and unlocks the pedal on the Xi3 please. Sick set up. I have pretty much same setup. Just trying to figure out how I can get my cable ran right.
Did you ever figure it out I’m looking to do the same
@@ronniecaldwell5944 yeah buddy I sure did. I can't add pictures on here unfortunately
@@ronniecaldwell5944 ua-cam.com/video/GwlMuEcPsTQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Flukemaster this could help a bit
whats that location called where you kept getting bit. . where you lost that 3 pounder?
for someone just going there for the first time. how do you get there to that spot. where all those bushes coming outta ghe water. where the bass an gils are at??
Hello.. What is the price of that set up, as is of July/August 2021?...Regards..
Is this a $8K kayak?
Nice 👍 I’m a bout to head out there for the first time .. I’m also dreading that long paddle 🥲
I think I’m gonna sell my PA12 One Objective Bow Mount and get a On The Water bow mount instead due to it being lifted an inch and a half allowing to install a pulley on the mount itself for the motor release instead of drilling. Also it comes with red/green lights already
What size wire are you running? And what are your Anderson connectors rated at? All I see is 50amp connectors
Thank you for this awesome video! ^_^
That’s awesome I’m local to it! That’s awesome !
Placed an order with KFS, thanks for sharing the build.
Awesome, you’ll love it!
Lot of salty comments in here. 🤣 Awesome build man. I'll be doing mine as close to yours as possible. 👍👍
Lol for real. To each their own. You’ll love it 👊
Sweet setup
Appreciate it!
Love it! Can this be used in saltwater?
The kayak yes, the motor is rated for freshwater but they sell saltwater versions 👍
@@jakethroughthelens2512 thanks Jake. I ordered the saltwater version.
Keep us informed if you have any problems with cracking around that front handle from all that weight.
No issues yet but I will keep you all posted 👍
Would you please be able to tell me the name of that pulley mounting plate? Thanks!
Sorry I’m not sure I think it was custom from the shop. Let me see if I can find out from them 👍
Garmin 0101278401 is on the shaft, and One Objective sells the through hull for the rope to deploy
@@steveparker7763 Thank you!!!! I've been looking for the right clamp to attach my deploy rope and I think I finally found it... sincere thanks for sharing! 👍
@@BrianParkerson can you share the info with me Brian I’m also looking for it.
That’s a Nice pulley set up for deploying the motor.
Yup works great! Thanks for watching
I love $10,000 kayaks 😂
Me too 😍
What did they use to hook to your pedal to release the trolling motor? What are specific parts?
Garmin 0101278401 is on the shaft, and One Objective sells the through hull for the rope to deploy
